  • We investigate an internal flow pattern of an evaporating droplet where the contact line non-uniformly recedes. By using tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry, we observe a three-dimensional azimuthal vortex pair that is maintained until the droplet is completely dried. The non-uniformly receding contact line motion breaks the flow symmetry. Finally, a simplified scaling model presents that the mechanical stress along the contact line is proportional to the vorticity magnitude, which is validated by the experimental results.

  • From the ordinary notion of uniformly strong mixing for a sequence of random variables, a new concept called conditionally uniformly strong mixing is proposed and the relation between uniformly strong mixing and conditionally uniformly strong mixing is answered by examples, that is, uniformly strong mixing neither implies nor is implied by conditionally uniformly strong mixing. A couple of equivalent definitions and some of basic properties of conditionally uniformly strong mixing random variables are derived, and several conditional covariance inequalities are obtained. By means of these properties and conditional covariance inequalities, a conditional central limit theorem stated in terms of conditional characteristic functions is established, which is a conditional version of the earlier result under the non-conditional case.

  • A uniformly sampled digital pulse-width modulation adopting a pre-compensation filter scheme for applications in high-resolution digital-to-analog data conversion is described. It is shown that linearization of the intrinsic distortion resulting in uniformly sampled pulse-width modulation can be achieved by using a non-integer delay digital filter embedded within a noise shaping re-quantizer.

  • We consider the boundary value problem with a Dirichlet condition for a second order linear uniformly elliptic operator in a non-divergence form. We study some properties of a barrier at infinity which was introduced by Meyers and Serrin to investigate a solution in an exterior domains. Also, we construct a modified barrier for more general domain than an exterior domain.

  • In this paper, we introduce a new class of uniformly point-wise R-subweakly commuting self-mappings and prove several common fixed point theorems and best approximation results for uniformly point-wise R-subweakly commuting asymptotically I-nonexpansive mappings in normed linear spaces. We also establish some results concerning strong convergence of nearest common fixed points of asymptotically I-non-expansive mappings in reflexive Banach spaces with a uniformly G$\^{a}$teaux differentiable norm. Our results unify and generalize various known results given by some authors to a more general class of noncommuting mappings.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a model for the grinding process for predicting the temperature, thermal stress and thermal deformation. The thermal load during grinding is modeled as uniformly distributed, 2D heat source moving across the surface of elastic half space, which is insulated or subjected to convective cooling. That non-dimensional temperature distribution, non-dimensional longitudinal stress distribution and non-dimensional thermal deformation distribution are calculated with non-dimensional heat source half width and non-dimensional heat transfer coefficient. Finite element models are developed to simulate moving heat source, which is modeled as uniformly or triangularly distributed, the FEM simulation is compared with numerical solution.

  • This paper is devoted to solving a multidimensional backward stochastic differential equation with a general time interval, where the generator is uniformly continuous in (y, z) non-uniformly with respect to t. By establishing some results on deterministic backward differential equations with general time intervals, and by virtue of Girsanov's theorem and convolution technique, we prove a new existence and uniqueness result for solutions of this kind of backward stochastic differential equations, which extends the results of [8] and [6] to the general time interval case.

  • In this paper, we study a new one-step iterative scheme with error for approximating common fixed points of non-self asymptotically nonexpansive in the intermediate sense mappings in uniformly convex Banach spaces. Also we have proved weak and strong convergence theorems for above said scheme. The results obtained in this paper extend and improve the recent ones, announced by Zhou et al. [27] and many others.

  • When thermal diffusivity is measured by laser flash method, the thermal diffusivity call be calculated front the assumption of the uniformly heated whole surface of the specimen. It has been known that the approximate 5% error is made by the non-uniform energy distribution on the specimen surface of laser pulse heat source. In this study, to obtain the highly-uniformed laser beam, which has both the low non-uniform heating error from non-uniform laser beam and the energy loss, research was carried out on no transmitting loss by optical fiber and high repetitions. In addition, heating error and thermal diffusivity were measured as the measuring positions were varied and compared with the results using the uniform and the non-uniform laser beams. In addition, dole to using the uniformalized laser beam, the whole surface of the specimen was heated uniformly and as a result, it was the thought that this was very effective to reduce the variations of the errors of the thermal diffusivity as the measuring positions were varied. It can be obtained that when the thermal diffusivity of POCO-AXM-5Q1 of SRM in NBS was measured with both the uniform and the non-uniform laser beams, the dispersion error of the former was from 2 to 2.5%, which was more improved than that of the latter.
