This paper introduces an analysis of the non-axisymmetric mode due to in-plane vibration of an annular type piezoelectric actuator using FEM(Finite Element Method). The actuator is used as stator of ultrasonec motor. The freqrency charecterisrics and non-axisymmetric mode of the annular piezoelectric acruator are considered at a steady-state condition. The non-axisymmetric mode is occured by two sinusodial voltage sources with $\pi$/2 phase difference on the time domain. The resonant frequency of non-axisymmetric of non-axisymmetric mode is 60.358 kHz and 59.880 kHz for calculation and measurement, respectivly. The error was 0.8% between calculation and measurement. The revolution of the non-axisymmetric mode for actuator is analized at a period of exciting voltage sources using annimation. It is confirmed that the actuator has an usefulness as the stator of ultrasonic motor and the preposed method has a properity.
The proposed dual-output DC-DC converter that bases on flyback converter can obtain two output voltage with non-isolated main-output and isolated sub-output at the same time using single-winding high frequency transformer. It can solve problems in multi-winding converter that use one main-switch, and also control quality of isolated sub-output voltage can be improved by additional sub-switch to the second. For analysis and design of the proposed converter system, converters are classified as operation mode from switching state and are become modeling by applying state space averaging method. Steady-state characteristics and dynamic characteristics are analyzed by DC component and perturbation component from state space averaging model. From experiment converter, validity of analysis and design for the propose converter system is confirm.
Free vibration characteristics of a curved pipe conveying fluid is studied when the pipe is clamped at both ends. Using the perturbation method, the non-linear governing equations divided into two parts; the steady state non-linear equilibrium equations and the linearized equations of motion in the neighborhood of the equilibrium position. The natural frequencies are computed from the linearized equations of motion. In this study, the equilibrium positions are determined by two types of equations, i.e., (1) the non-linear equations, and (2) the equations obtained by neglecting the non-linear terms. The natural frequencies obtained from the non-linear equilibrium equations are compared to those obtained from the linearized equilibrium equations. From the results, as the fluid velocity increases, the equilibrium position should be determined from the nonlinear equations for the vibration analysis of the curved pipe conveying fluid.

In order to optimize the performance of a Wells turbine with fixed guide vanes, the designs of an end plate and a ring on the tip of the turbine rotor are proposed as penetrating blade tip treatments. In this study, numerical investigations are made using computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based ANSYS Fluent software, and validated by corresponding experimental data. The flow fields are analyzed and non-dimensional coefficients $C_A$, $C_T$ and ${\eta}$ are calculated under steady-state conditions. Numerical results show that the stalling phenomenon on a ring-type Wells turbine occurs at a flow coefficient of ${\phi}=0.36$, and its peak efficiency can reach 0.54, which is 16% higher than that of an unmodified turbine and 9% higher than in the case of an endplate-type turbine. In addition, quasi-steady analysis is used to calculate the mean efficiency and output work of a wave cycle under sinusoidal flow conditions. As a result, it has been found that the ring-type turbine is superior to other types of Wells turbines.
An analysis on the steady-state has been made of flow of a compressible fluid rapidly-rotating in a pipe. The flow is induced by an small arbitrary azimuthally-varying thermal forcing added on the basic state of rigid body isothermal rotation. The system Ekman number is assumed to be very small value. Analytic solutions have been obtained for axisymmetric and non-axisymmetric types, in which the axisymmetric solution comes from the azimuthally-averaged wall boundary condition and the non-axisymmetric solution from fluctuating wall boundary condition.
Electromagnetic Suspension(EMS) System produces no noise, friction and heat through non-contacting operation Therefore, the applicable device using EMS system has a lot of attraction in case of the high-speed and non-contacting transmission EMS with nonlinear properties requires a precise airgap position control and stable kinematics characteristics under the disturbances, In this study, the nonlinear system was linearized by a Nonlinear Feedback Lineariztion(NFL) method. The NFL method requires that the modelling should be exact, and the state variables should be measured and a rapidly operating controller be necessary on account of a heavy data calculating In the experiments. the ideal control characteristics of the NFL was acquired through simulation at first. then the characteristics of the actual system were compared with those of simulation. In addition, the results by NFL were examined and analysed considering the characteristics of the PID control. The Control by NFL shows much stable control characteristics than the PID control. Whereas, the steady state errors occur for various disturbances. hence a robust control design is remained for a further study.

This paper investigates a mathematical model of a system composed of two non-identical unit parallel system with common-cause failure, critical human error, non-critical human error, preventive maintenance and two type of repair, i.e. cheaper and costlier. This system goes for preventive maintenance at random epochs. We assume that the failure, repair and maintenance times are independent random variables. The failure rates, repair rates and preventive maintenance rate are constant for each unit. The system is analyzed by using the graphical evaluation and review technique (GERT) to obtain various related measures and we study the effect of the preventive maintenance preventive maintenance on the system performance. Certain important results have been derived as special cases. The plots for the mean time to system failure and the steady-state availability A(${\infty}$) of the system are drawn for different parametric values.
The non-linear torsional vibrations of the propulsion shafting system with viscous damper are considered. The motion is modeled by non-linear differential equations of second order. the equivalent system is modeled by two mass softening system with Duffing's oscillator. The steady state response of a equivalent system is analyzed for primary resonance only. Harmonic balance method as a non-linear vibration analysis technique is used. Jump phenomena are explained. The primary unstable region obtained by the Mathieu equation is investigated. Both theoretical and measured results of the propulsion shafting system are compared with and evaluated. As a result of comparisons with both data, it was confirmed that Duffing's oscillator can be used as a analysis method in the modeling of the propulsion shafting system attached viscous damper with non-linear stiffness.
The build-up of the heat field in shallow coastal water due to a point source has been investigated using an analytical solution of a time-integral form derived by extending the solutions by Holley(1969) and also presented in Harleman (1971). The uniform water depth is assumed with non-isotropic turbulent dispersion. The alongshore-flow is assumed to be uni-directional, spatially uniform and oscillatory. Due to the presence of the oscillatory alongshore-flow, the heat build-up occurs in an oscillatory manner, and the excess temperature thereby fluctuates in that course and even in the quasi-steady state. A series of calculations reveal that proper choices of the decay coefficient as well as dispersion coefficients are critical to the reliable prediction of the excess temperature field. The dispersion coefficients determine the absolute values of the excess temperature and characterize the shoreline profile, particularly within the tidal excursion distance, while the decay coefficient determines the absolute value of the excess temperature and the convergence rate to that of the quasi-steady state. Within the e-folding time scale $1/k_d$ (where $k_d$ is the heat decay coefficient), heat build-up occurs more than 90% of the quasi-steady state values in a region within a tidal excursion distance (L), while occurs increasingly less the farther we go to the downstream direction (about 80% at 1.25L, and 70% at 1.5L). Calculations with onshore and offshore discharges indicate that thermal spreading in the direction of the shoreline is reduced as the shoreline constraint which controls the lateral mixing is reduced. The importance of collecting long-term records of in situ meteorological conditions and clarifying the definition of the heat loss coefficient is addressed. Interactive use of analytical and numerical modeling is recommended as a desirable way to obtain a reliable estimate of the far-field excess temperature along with extensive field measurements.
