  • The first function of occlusion is mastication. Therefore the functional restoration of occlusal surface is very important. The restoration of occlusal surface is three method as wax bite technique, F.G.P. technique, cone technique. Many dental technician is using compound method. I am using compound method of wax bite technique and cone technique. I have knew common point on each teeth during I have waxing up wax pattern. So I studied on the design waxup technique for mandible molar occlusion. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The dam wax up method can restore axial contour of teeth very easy and make short working time of wax pattern. 2. The height of dam must be same with cusp of adjacent teeth. 3. Automatically the contour of tooth is appeared if the contour of dam is relationship with cuspid line of adjacent teeth. 4. The height of contour of buccal, lingual surface is formed natural curve to add fluid wax by gravitation. 5. The development groove of mandible first premolar is appeared V form. 6. The development groove of mandible second premolar is appeared Y form. 7, The development groove of mandible first molar is appeared M form. 8. The development groove of mandible second molar is W form. 9. The embrasure is formed to carve around contact point area as round convex. It affects to axial form of tooth. 10. The buccal, lingual groove of molar is formed parallel with direction of teeth arrangement.

  • The purpose of this study was to observe bone apposition and marginal bone loss and to check the possibility of success on titanium implant, HA coated implant and the implant with natural coral that were place immediately after teeth extraction in dogs. Experimental subjects were divided into 4 groups ; the 1st group is the titanium implant, second the HA coated implant, third the implant with natural coral, and the last the control group that was prepared in the extraction sockets. After 12 weeks, the dogs were sacrificed for visual observation and microscopic examination approaching histologic and histomorphometric analysis. The results were as follows : 1. Neither the infection nor the exposure of implant was found at the sites of all implant. 2. In a histomorphometric analysis, mean percentage of direct bone contact with the titanium implant was 80.7% and the HA coated implant showed 81.5% apposition, but the implant with natural coral showed 64.9% apposition(P<0.05). 3. In a microscopic examination, mature lamellated bone was found around the immediate implants and control group, while unabsorbed natural coral around the immediate implants with natural coral was found. 4. All immediate implant groups showed the loss of marginal bone in order from implant with natural coral, titanium implant, and HA coated implant. 5. Implant with natural coral that was placed by the type I interface of the Barzilay's classification immediately after teeth extraction showed low percentage of direct bone contact area, low success rate and a lot of marginal bone loss. Above results suggested that the immediate implants are osseointegrated successfully, although slightly marginal bone was loss.

  • The digestive apparatus and food of the Korean bitterling, Acheilognathus signifer, from the upper reaches of the Hongcheon River were investigated by examining their gill rakers, pharyngeal teeth, and digestive-tube contents. Gill rakers of the first arch were relatively few (17 to 21, mean = 19) and short (mean = 0.36 mm, SD = 0.035). The 2nd to 5th pharyngeal teeth were well developed, while the first tooth was poorly developed. Gill rakers and pharyngeal teeth were completely formed early in life. The digestive tube was long and arranged in many coils. The digestive-tube contents of Korean bitterling mainly consisted of phytoplankton and detrital microorganisms.

  • In Korea, there has been a rapid increase in the number and proportion of elderly people, especially in rural areas, due to improvements in the standard of living and medical technology. One of the main health problems for the elderly people is dental health, which can cause nutritional and health problems. Thus, in this study, the dental health status and health status in relation to nutritional intake were analyzed. A total of 155 rural-dwelling elderly people (68 males, 87 females) over the ages of 65 participated in this study. The subjects were classified into three groups; the no denture no teeth group, denture user group, and natural teeth group. The dietary intake, biochemical health status, and anthropometry were evaluated. Can-pro 3.0 was used to assess dietary intakes and the SPSS 12.0 program was used for statistical analysis. The results showed that the natural teeth group had better nutritional and dietary intake status than the no denture no teeth group. The dietary assessment showed that there were differences in food intakes among the groups, which depended on their dental health status. In conclusion, dietary management is required for the elderly since each group has a different ability to chew food depending on their dental health status. In addition, the elderly will need different therapeutic diets because of the high prevalence of chronic degenerative diseases.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the oral health education and oral health care in the implant wearers. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire was conducted by 253 patients in 14 different dental hospitals and clinics in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do from July 1 to September 30, 2012. The instrument was adapted from Kang and Lee, Yu and Shim, and Ko and Jang on the basis of the previous study. The questionnaire consisted of 12 questions including general characteristics of the subjects(4 questions), oral health education(3 questions), behavior and attitude of tooth brushing(3 questions), and use of auxiliary supplies(2 questions). Results: 1. 38.3% of the patients received the dental care education for the first time. The most common education method was demonstration by dental hygienists(28.9%). 26.2% of the patients wanted to know the right toothbrushing method. 2. The best toothbrushing methods were rolling method(28.9%) and Leonard's method(28.9%). 19.4% of the patients changed the toothbrushing method after education. 22.5 percent brushed their natural teeth and implant teeth by a different maneuver. 3. The interdental brush was the most commonly used product(35.8%) and most of the patients the interdental brush once a day(36.6%). 4. There was a significant difference between the frequency of toothbrushing and method(p<0.05). 5. There was a significant difference between the separate brushing of implant and natural teeth by the frequency of toothbrushing and method of education(p<0.05). 6. Use of interdental brush had an influenced on education method(p<0.05). Conclusions: Regular dental checkup and use of interdental brush can improve the oral care for the implant wearers. Regular use of interdental brush can prolong the life span of implant tooth and keep the patients' teeth in good condition.

  • The recognition of the esthetics as well as their function of the teeth in the dental field is growing. Evaluating the esthetics of a tooth concerns shape, texture, and color. And among these, color has been the most difficult element to make natural expression. Color is a very subjective element affected by many different factor like light source, object, observer. Numerous efforts to quantifying color has been made. Currently the use of colorimeter and spectrophotometercolor that the color measuring device has been suggested. In this study, the normal range of the tooth color in canines, lateral incisors and central incisors for Koreans was evaluated with a modified spectrophotometer for intraoral use. The color differences in terms of teeth positions, age and area within the tooth was evaluated and comparatively analyzed. Results were as follow ; 1. In all age groups, the central incisors are most bright and least yellowish opposit to the canines are most dark and yellowish. The central incisors and lateral incisors showed the similar color patterns. 2. In the comparison between gender, it showed that in the 10' s group male have more yellowish, the 20's female have lighter and more redness, the 30's indicated more redness in female and in the 40's the lightness is more in female. 3. With aging, there was no significant change in $L^*$ and $a^*$ coordinates but a shift was in $b^*$ to yellowish in the 30' sand 40's in central incisors. Lateral incisors and canines showed a lighter and more yellowish tooth color with an irregular change of color coordinate in $a^*$. 4. In all teeth the middle and cervical portion showed close correlation with over 0.7(0.05>p) but color ($a^*$, $b^*$) showed higher correlation than lightness($L^*$). 5. It has been shown that through the regression test the cervical color could be calculated by the middle color value.
