The second-order nonlinear optical effect, especially the second harmonic generation, in Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films have get much attention over the past few years. For second harmonic generation(SHG) of the ultrathin organic films, the multilayer structure of the film should have the noncentrosymmetric arrangements of molecules. The Langmuir-Blodgett technique can result in the production of thin films of precisely controlled dimensions and structure. In this paper, n-octadecyl 4-(4'-nitrophenylazo)-1-naphthyl ether, ONNE(azohenzene derivative), was synthesized and the optical properties of ONNE was studied. Nonccntrosymmctric Z-type LB films of ONNE were prepared and SHG intensity of the film were measured. The structural characteristics of floating monolayer(L film) and LB film of ONNE were discussed with $\pi$-A isotherm. UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and spectroscopic ellipsometry. The polarized UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and SHO intensity suggest the molecular orientation in LB film.
Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems promising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the monolayers. Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. MDC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of mono layers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a liner relationship between the monolayer compression speed a and the molecular area $A_m$. Compression speed a was about 30, 40, 50mm/min. also, LB layers of Arachidic acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Arachidic acid/Al, the number of accumulated layers are 9 ~ 21 and we then examined of the Metal-Insulator-Metal(MIM) device by means of I-V.
Though multilayered foam-panel structures have been widely used to reduce sound transmission in various fields, most of the previous works to design them were conducted by repeated analyses or experiments based on initially given configurations or sequences. Therefore, it was difficult to obtain an optimal sequence of multilayered foam-panel structure yielding superior sound isolation capability. In this work, we propose a new design method to sequence a multi-panel structure lined with a poroelastic material having maximized sound transmission loss. Being formulated as a one-dimensional topology optimization problem fur a given target frequency, the optimal sequencing of panel-poroelastic layers is systematically carried out in an iterative manner. In this method, a panel layer is expressed as a limiting case of a poroelastic layer to facilitate the optimization process. This means that main material properties of a poroelastic material are treated as interpolated functions of design variable. The designed sequences of panel-poroelastic multilayer were shown to be significantly affected by the target frequencies; more panels were obtained at higher target frequency. The sound transmission loss of the system was calculated by the transfer matrix derived from Biot's theory.
Monolayers of lipids on a water surface have attracted much interest as models of biological membranes, but also as precursors of multilayer systems premising many technical applications. Until now, many methodologies have been developed in order to gain a better understand. Photoisomerization in monolayers of a novel azobenzene compound, azobenzene dendrimer, was investigated for the first time by means of the absorption spectrum and Maxwell displacement current (MDC) technique. Dendrimers are well-defined macromolecules exhibiting a tree-like structure, first derived by the cascade molecule approach. According to the absorption spectrum, trans-to-cis conversion ratio was estimated to the third generation of azobenzene dendrimer deposited onto a glass substrate. Temperature-dependent induced charge with trans-cis isomerization was also measured by means of MDC technique.
Numerous fabrication techniques have been used to mimic cylindrical natural tissues, such as blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and skeletal muscles. However, most processes have limitations in achieving the biomimetic properties of multilayered and porous architectures. In this study, to embrace both features, a novel self-assembly method was proposed using electrospun microfibrous sheets. A bilayer microfibrous structure, comprising two sheets with different internal stresses, was fabricated by electrospinning a polycaprolactone (PCL) sheet on a uniaxially stretched thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) sheet. Then, by removing the stretching tension, the sheet was rolled into a hollow cylindrical structure with a specific internal diameter. The internal diameter could be quantitatively controlled by adjusting the thickness of the PCL sheet against that of the TPU sheet. Through this self-assembly method, biomimetic cylindrical structures with multilayer and porous features can be manufactured in a stable and controllable manner. Therefore, the resulting structures may be applied to various tissue engineering scaffolds, especially vascular and connective tissues.
A nonlinear empirical state-space model of the Artificial Neural Network(ANN) has been developed. The nonlinear model structure incorporates characteristic, so as to enable identification of the transient response, as well as the steady-state response of a dynamic system. A hybrid feedfoward/feedback neural network, namely a Local Time Delayed Recurrent Multi-layer Perception(RMLP), is the model structure developed in this paper. RMLP is used to identify nonlinear dynamic system in an input/output sense. The feedfoward protion of the network architecture provides with the well-known curve fitting factor, while local recurrent and cross-talk connections provides the dynamics of the system. A dynamic learning algorithm is used to train the proposed network in a supervised manner. The derived dynamic learning algorithm exhibit a computationally desirable characteristic; both network sweep involved in the algorithm are performed forward, enhancing its parallel implementation. RMLP state-space and its associate learning algorithm is demonstrated through a simple examples. The simulation results are very encouraging.

In this paper, we present a finite element method (FEM) study on the space charge effects in organic light emitting diodes. The physical model covers all the key physical processes in OLEDs, namely charge injection, transport and recombination, exciton diffusion, transfer and decay as well as light coupling, and thin-film-optics. The exciton model includes generation, diffusion, and energy transfer as well as annihilation. We assumed that the light emission originates from oscillation which thus is embodied as exciton in a stack of multilayer. We discuss the accumulation of charges at internal interfaces and their signature in the transient response as well as the electric field distribution. We also report our investigation on the influence of the insertion of the emission layer (EML) in the bilayer structure.
We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 30[mN/m]. LB layers of Arac. acid deposited by LB method were deposited onto slide glass as Y-type film. The physicochemical properties of the LB films were examined by UV absorption spectrum, SEM and AFM. The structure of manufactured device is Au/arachidic acid/Al. the number of accumulated layers are 3~9. Also. we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from -3 to +3[V]. The insulation property of a thin film is better as the distance between electrodes is larger.
In this paper, we consider the problem of capacitance matrix calculation for strip-line and other interconnects crossings. The problem is formulated in the spectral domain using the method of moments. Sinc-functions are employed as basis functions. Conventionally, such a formulation leads to a large, non-sparse system of linear equations in which the calculation of each of the coefficient requires the evaluation of a Fourier-Bessel integral. Such calculations are computationally very intensive. In the method proposed here, we provide simplified expressions for the coefficients in the moment method matrix. Using these simplified expressions, the coefficients can be calculated very efficiently. This leads to a fast evaluation of the capacitance matrix of the structure. Computer simulations are provided illustrating the validity of the method proposed.
