  • A finite-element method is developed to calculate the impedance of arbitrarily shaped electrodes on traveling-wave modulators. This method employs the divergence theorem to obtain the total charge on an electrode from the node potential values. By using this method, the impedance of multi strip-line electrodes on anisotropic inhomogeneous dielectric media was analysed and the effect of non-zero electrode thickness was calculated.

  • In recent years, demands on microelectrode have been greatly enhanced because of its potential applications and mass production of microelectrodes is needed. An electrochemical fabrication is used as an method for the simple and cheap fabrication of multi microelectrodes. In this paper, one dimensional microelectrode array is used for fabricating of multi electrodes. A diffusion layer which is formed near the electrode surface has an effect on the shape error of multi microelectrodes. The optimal distance between electrodes to minimize shape errors of multi electrodes is investigated. Multi microelectrodes which has several tens of and hundreds of micrometer in diameter are fabricated at a time.

  • Recent earth systems not only make earth resistance decreased by installing earth electrode but also are demanded by earth construction for the protection of human life and equipments through total investigation about circumstances. Layer constructions in Jeju island consist of multi-layer of scoria, rocks and shale except clay layers on the surface, which needs the construction of the coring earth electrode suitable in the condition of the area. For this reason, we've used the coring earth electrode. But the coring earth electrode is expected to slow down the performance of this equipment according to the progress of time changing the effects. It is also applied for the stability of earth system construction and management after the construction work analyzing the condition of the earth system. Therefore, this is actually focused on the analysis on measuring the earth resistance and the soil resistivity that cover the range where the remarkable contrast can be expected to be seen in the layer structures.

  • To produce carbon electrodes for use in perovskite solar cells, electrode samples are prepared by mixing various weight ratios of 35 nm nano carbon(NC) and $1{\mu}m$ graphite flakes(GF), GF/(NC+GF) = 0, 0.5, 0.7, and 1, in chlorobenzene(CB) solvent with a $ZrO_2$ binder. The carbon electrodes are fabricated as glass/FTO/carbon electrode devices for microstructure characterization using transmission electron microscopy, optical microscopy, and a field emission scanning electron microscopy. The electrical characterization is performed with a four-point probe and a multi tester. The microstructure characterization shows that an electrode with excellent attachment to the substrate and no surface cracks at weight ratios above 0.5. The electrical characterization results show that the sheet resistance is <$70{\Omega}/sq$ and the interface resistance is <$70{\Omega}$ at weight ratios of 0.5 and 0.7. Therefore, a carbon paste electrode with microstructure and electrical properties similar to those of commercial carbon electrodes is proposed with an appropriate mixing ratio of NC and GF containing a CB solvent and $ZrO_2$.

  • Owing to the rapid climate change, a high-performance energy storage system (ESS) for efficient energy consumption has been receiving considerable attention. ESS, such as capacitors, usually has issues with the ion diffusion of electrode materials, resulting in a decrease in their capacitance. Notably, appropriate pore diameter and large specific surface area (SSA) may result in an effective ion diffusion. Therefore, graphene and multi-walled carbon nanotube (graphene@MWCNT) hybrid nanomaterials, with covalent bonds between the graphene and MWCNT, were prepared via an edge-chemistry reaction. The properties of these materials, such as high porosity, large SSA, and high electroconductivity, make them suitable to be used as electrode materials for capacitors. The optimal ratio of graphene to MWCNT can affect the electrochemical performance of the electrode material based on its physical and electrochemical properties. The supercapacitor using optimal graphene-based hybrid electrode material exhibited highest specific capacitance value as 158 F/g and excellent cycle stability.

  • The main object of this study is to investigate the collection characteristics of an electro-static multi-staged impaction system, experimentally. The experiment is carried out to analyze the characteristics of pressure drop and collection efficiency for the present system with the experimental parameters such as the inlet velocity, stage number, applied voltage and shape of discharge electrode, etc. In results, the pressure drop is shown below $148mmH_2O$ lower than that of the conventional bag filter at inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and 5 stage. For 5 stage, the collection efficiencies are to be 97.4, 99.0% with the applied voltage 0 kV at the inlet velocity 2.07, 3.46 m/s, while 98.4, 99.9% with 40 kV of a sharp edge discharge electrode. Additionally, the present system is to be considered as an effective compact system for a removal of particulate pollutants from marine diesel engines due to much higher collection efficiency and appropriate pressure drop.

  • To overcome the theoretical efficiency of single-junction solar cells (> 30 %), tandem solar cells (or multi-junction solar cells) is considered as a strong nominee because of their excellent light utilization. Organic-inorganic halide perovskite has been regarded as a promising candidate material for next-generation tandem solar cell due to not only their excellent optoelectronic properties but also their bandgap-tune-ability and low-temperature process-possibility. As a result, they have been adopted either as a wide-bandgap top cell combined with narrow-bandgap silicon or CuInxGa(1-x)Se2 bottom cells or for all-perovskite tandem solar cells using narrow- and wide-bandgap perovskites. To successfully transition perovskite materials from for single junction to tandem, substantial efforts need to focus on fabricating the high quality wide- and narrow-bandgap perovskite materials and semi-transparent electrode/recombination layer. In this paper, we present an overview of the current research and our outlook regarding perovskite-based tandem solar technology. Several key challenges discussed are: 1) a wide-bandgap perovskite for top-cell in multi-junction tandem solar cells; 2) a narrow-bandgap perovskite for bottom-cell in all-perovskite tandem solar cells, and 3) suitable semi-transparent conducting layer for efficient electrode or recombination layer in tandem solar cells.

  • In this study, a nanocomposite of multi-walled carbon nanotubes@poly(p-phenylenediamine)-Prussian blue (MWCNTs@PpPD-PB) was synthesized and employed for the electrochemical detection of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). A straightforward approach was utilized to prepare an electrochemical H2O2 sensor using a MWCNTs@PpPD-PB modified glassy carbon electrode, and its electrochemical behavior was investigated through techniques such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry, and amperometry. The modified electrode displayed a favorable electrocatalytic response towards the reduction of H2O2 in an acidic solution. The developed sensor exhibited linearity in the concentration range of 0.005 mM to 2.225 mM for H2O2, with high sensitivity (583.6 ㎂ mM-1cm-2) and a low detection limit (0.95 ㎛, S/N = 3) at an applied potential of +0.15 V (vs. Ag/AgCl). Additionally, the sensor demonstrated excellent selectivity, reproducibility, and stability. Moreover, successful detection of H2O2 was achieved in real samples.

  • External corrosion of buried pipes can be controlled using both coating and cathodic protection. However, deterioration of the coating can occur due to several reasons. The detection reliabilty of coating flaw detection methods is affected by interference such as metal objects connected to rectifiers and copper grids. When performing parallel direct current voltage gradient (DCVG) inspection, a sine wave form without potential reversal in voltage gradient appears in the area where the interference exists. However, this area may be not identified using existing methods. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of analyzing direction on the reliability of coating flaw detection of pipes buried in soil using a multi-electrode detector. DCVG on the buried pipe was measured along the buried pipe. This measurement parallel to the pipe was repeated. Measured data were analyzed for parallel, vertical, and diagonal directions. The reliability of coating flaw detection was improved by up to 46.4% compared to the conventional method.

  • Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) based nano-composite pastes having a high filler content are prepared for the facile fabrication of a counter electrode (CE) of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). A polystyrene-based functional block copolymer is prepared through a controlled "living" radical polymerization technique, affording a surface modifier for the dispersion control of MWCNT in the paste. Physical dispersion through a ball-milling method additionally confirms the importance of the dispersion control, providing DSSC with enhanced processibility and improved solar-to-electricity energy conversion efficiency (${\eta}$) values. The performances of the DSSCs are further improved through the incorporation of minor amount of platinum (Pt) nanoparticles into the MWCNT pastes. The DSSC with the Pt/MWCNT hybrid CE exhibits very high ${\eta}$ values, which is superior to that of DSSC with the standard Pt CE.
