  • Leisure motivation is an important concept in the study of leisure behavior. The purpose of this study was to examine visitors' motivations for hot spring resorts in Korea. The data were collected by questionnaires survey in three hot spring resorts in 1994:Suanbo, Paikam, and Chuksan. The findings of this study are summarized as follows: The eight motivation factors extracted by factor analysis such as; 1)"intellectual needs", 2)'escaping everyday life', 3)'closing nature', 4)'recognition or status', 5)'interaction with others', 6)'health', 7)'family vacation', 8)'hot spring bathing'. The three resorts showed significant deferences in the motivation of visitors. Visitors of Suanbo have high motivation for 'intellectual needs', 'interaction with others', and 'thealth', and visitors of Chuksan for 'closing nature', 'family vacation', and 'hot spring bathing'. This study has proved first, psychological(pushing) factors are more important than pulling factors of resorts, second, in pulling factors, natural sceneries were more important than medicinal properties of the hot springs. And this study found several important implications for predicting visitors' demand in hot spring resorts.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify a Structural Equation Model that constructed the causations among the structural leisure constraints, interpersonal leisure constraints, intrapersonal leisure constraints, leisure motivation, leisure activity participation, leisure satisfaction and the quality of life from the ecological perspective. The respondents were 301 elderly people residing in 4 free institutionalized elderly homes in Seoul. The data were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis and covariance structure analysis using USREL 8.0 ver. The major results are summarized as follows: 1) Statistically, a goodness of fit is good of structural equation model presented in the study. 2) The structural leisure constraints and the interpersonal leisure constraints are some types of leisure environment of the aged in public homes from the ecological perspective. Such constraints would inevitably lead to a direct effect on individual leisure life and leisure motivation. 3) The important valuable factor which affected the leisure satisfaction and the quality of life in the elderly was the leisure motivation.

The research method involved one-on-one, in-depth interviews with 7 hair professionals, 7 make-up professionals and 7 skincare professionals. The in-depth interviews were recorded in their entirety, and the recorded content was transcribed and organized. Analysis of the transcribed data involved encoding, deconstructing and re-composing the interview content. Research results revealed 5 factors that were extracted to explain the achievement motivation of beauty industry professionals. Four of the 5 factors were similar to the results of precedent studies, but the remaining factor presented unique characteristics. The 4 common factors were "motive to pursue success", "motive to avoid failure", "motive to meet challenges" and "goal-oriented motive". The factor discovered in this study was "relationship-oriented motive", which is characterized by the tendency to place importance in relationships with superiors, colleagues and customers based on the working characteristics of beauty industry professionals. Based on the results of this study, beauty industry professionals can learn about goals that must be met in various stages in order to establish a system for accomplishing those goals, implement an emotional education program for mental balance, introduce a competitive team system, and carry out a relationship improvement program to increase work efficiency.

  • The present study investigated the dimensionality of satisfaction and dissatisfaction as well as evaluated the effects of social commerce characteristics on satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The conceptual framework of the study was built on Herzberg's motivation-hygiene Theory and the Kano Model. We gathered 519 data by social commerce users through an online survey and used SPSS 20.0 for the analysis. The findings showed that satisfaction and dissatisfaction are two distinct constructs; in addition, nine characteristics of social commerce were derived from factor analysis. Among the nine factors of social commerce characteristics, diversity had a positive influence only on satisfaction and uncertainty had only a positive impact on dissatisfaction; however, price discount, product quality and transaction safety, influenced both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. There were several factors that had no significant influence on both satisfaction and dissatisfaction. The findings of the study support Herzberg's motivation-hygiene Theory and the Kano Model. The present study helps social commerce managers establish a plan to maximize factors that influence consumer satisfaction and minimize the factor influencing dissatisfaction.

  • This study explores a structural model to examine the relationship between web browsing motivation, retail strategy and purchase conversion for apparel on shopping websites. A self-administered questionnaire based on existing scales includes web browsing motivation, retail strategy, and purchase conversion intention of apparel on the shopping websites. A total of 499 usable questionnaires were obtained from consumers aging 20 to 49 who reside in metropolitan cities in Korea. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation models were used via SPSS 12.0 and LISREL 8.8. Findings concluded that web browsing motivations consisted of three factors: hedonic, informational, and recreational browsing for apparel. Hedonic browsing had a negative effect on purchase conversion intention, whereas informational browsing had a positive effect on the purchase conversion intention for apparel on shopping sites. Retail strategies on the website were classified into service, merchandise assortment, and price & promotion; the three elements of retail strategies mediated the relationship between web browsing motivations and purchase conversion intention for apparel. Specially, merchandise assortment had significantly direct effect on the purchase conversion intention of apparel on shopping websites. Managerial implications were discussed for fashion marketers to develop retail strategies and web content in order to convert web browsers or visitors into purchasers.

  • This study investigated the correlation between learners' psychological and social factors and their syntactic complexity of speaking. The study collected samples of Korean spoken production of 61 learners with English, Chinese, Japanese and other L1 backgrounds and applied mini-TOPIK, mini-AMTB, and SASIQ for 70 minutes. The study found that: (i) integrative motivation showed positive correlation with a number of simple complex clauses, but instrumental motivation correlated negatively with a number of adverbial clauses, indicating that high motivation hindered producing highly complex clauses although it triggered producing simple complex clauses, (ii) social contact with L2 native speakers showed positive correlation with general L2 development and a number of simple complex clauses, but revealed negative correlation with double or triple complex clauses, (iii) hours of L2 listening showed very strong positive correlation with producing triple complex clauses and general proficiency, but indicated negative correlation with a number of simple complex clauses. The study reported that high motivation toward Korean learning and active social activities with Korean native speakers helped produce simple complex clauses while hours of listening to Korean helped produce triple complex clauses.

The oriental level combining 6 items. The geneal satisfaction level combining 6itmes tured out to have reliability of chronbach $\alpha$=0.7126. As a result of examining how mech the general satifaction level depended on sociodemographic characteristics, ther was found be significantly affected by age, marital status, educational background or hospital type. Those who a spouse or a lower educational background or the oriental hospital users got better score.
