  • State estimators are used to monitor the operating states of power systems in modern EMS. It iteratively calculates the voltage profile of the currently operating power system with voltage, current, and power measurements gathered from the entire system. All the measurements are usually assumed to be obtained simultaneously. It is practically impossible, however, to maintain the synchronism of the measurement data. Recently, phasor measurements synchronized via satellite are used for the operation of these power systems. This paper describes the modified state estimator used to support the processing of synchronized phasor measurements. Synchronized phasor measurements are found to provide synchronism of measurement data and improve the accuracy/redundancy of the measurement data for state estimation. The details of the developed state estimation program and some numerical results of operation are presented.

  • In this study, research was performed to establish the measurement and frequency of analysis for maintenance monitoring by investigation of tunnel maintenance monitoring system in the tunnel which was installed in the Seoul metro line 5, 7 and 8, using that the domestic and foreign application case, results of analyzed maintenance monitoring in the domestic tunnel and legal safety management standard of the facility. The results of the monitoring management about analysis frequency to the present are considered that the problem about measuring frequency does not occur. According to the analysis results of the maintenance monitoring which are located on the 5, 6th subway line, they are analyzed that the stress of concrete lining and reinforced bar are converged gradually after 45 months. Therefore Monitoring of measurement and analysis frequency is conduct more often within about 4 years after the measuring instrument installation. Four years later, slowing the frequency of measurement is considered reasonable.

  • Recently, according to the severity of air pollution, interest in air pollution is increasing. The IoT based fine dust monitoring system proposed in this paper allows the measurement and monitoring of fine dust, volatile organic compounds, carbon dioxide, etc., which are the biggest causes affecting the human body among air environmental pollution. The proposed system consisted of a device that measures atmospheric environment information, a server system for storing and analyzing measured information, an integrated monitoring management system for administrators and smart phone applications for users to enable visualization analysis of atmospheric environment information in real time. In addition, the effectiveness of the proposed fine dust monitoring system based on the Internet of Things was verified by using the response speed of the system, the transmission speed of the sensor data, and the measurement error of the sensor. The fine dust monitoring system based on the Internet of Things proposed in this paper is expected to increase user convenience and efficiency of the system by visualizing the air pollution condition after measuring the air environment information with portable fine dust measuring device.

  • Recently, the smart health care industry is showing great interest in health due to the rapid rise of the industry, and various devices capable of monitoring health status in daily life are being developed. In this study, we implemented a system to monitor cardiac activity and anomalous signals from cardiac activity measurement in a manner different from conventional electrocardiogram or pulse wave measurement. And, we performed the measurement evaluation on the subject using the implemented heart sound system. As a result, we confirmed the possibility of monitoring cardiac activity during daily life through heart sound measurement.

  • Ships and offshore structures are exposed to wave and engine excitation loadings during navigation and cargo/ballasting operations. These excessive loads may cause damages to hull and may result loss of life the ship. Therefore, it is important to develop a system that allow accurate measurements of global hull loads. The objective of the study is developing a fiber optic monitoring system that is capable of monitoring, recording and warning of the vessel performance. A method for measurement of global loads on a vessel, using strain measurements from a network of fiber optic strain sensors and extensive finite-element analyses(FEA) with idealistic load cases, is presented. The method has been successfully validated on the idealized ship structure model with strain sensors.

  • To provide more qualified data service on the HFC(Hybrid-Fiber Coaxial) access network, the channel characteristics of upstream transmission band should be carefully investigated and analysed. It will be easier to do network management if the monitoring system for noise measurement in the network is available, In this paper, noise analysis method and the frequency selection method in the upstream band for duplex transmission are suggested. And, Data aquisition device for the signal measurement Is implemented. With this network monitoring system, field test and the result from the collected data are described.

  • Smart Factory requires real-time monitoring and analysis of all process processes for optimal production environment. Monitoring system for data collection from various sensors is necessary to make all production processes automatic. By storing and analyzing the collected data, we can check whether there are any signs of abnormalities in any machine or equipment. Thus, in this paper, an integrated monitoring system for smart factory incorporating a working environment monitoring system and an automatic storage system of measurement values was implemented. By using the automatic storage system of measurement values, it is possible to carry out reliable inspection in any place without misentry. Also, through working environment monitoring system using LoRa, production environments such as temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure can be monitored in real time.

  • This paper presents the real time stray current monitoring techniques on the DC railway system. These techniques are two types. The first one is the rail potential measurement technique between running rail and earthing mats on the important locations such as substation, station, and so on. And the second one is measurement technique of stray current through substation earthing mats and from collection mats, and continuous monitoring of return currents through the running rails. We need to apply these techniques on DC railway system to monitor stray current periodically and maintain the system properly.
