The line-of-sight(LOS) stabilization system is a precision electro-mechanical gimbals assembly for suppressing vibration due to its environment and tracking the target in a desired direction. This paper describes the design of gimbals system to reject the disturbance and to improve stabilization. The controller consists of a DSP with transducer and actuator interfaces. Unknown parameters of the gimbals are estimated by the signal compression method. The cross-correlation coefficient between the impulse response from the assumed model and the one from model of the gimbals is used to obtain the better estimation. The quasi-impulse response through linear element included in the gimbals could be obtained by the signal compression method. The unknown parameter of the linear element could be estimated as comparing the bode plots for impulse response from gimbals with them from model's response.

This work aims at studing the stress-strain-strength behavior of an CSG(cemented sand and gravel) materials. An analysis of the mechanical behavior of the CSG is performed from the interpretation of results by unconfined compression test, large triaxial compression test in which the influence of both the degree of cementation and age. For CSG, It was concluded that the characterristics of compression are direct measurment of the degree of cementation and age. In addition, hyperbolic model is adopted to express the relation between elastic moduli and cementation, age, confined stress in small strain. The results of the test show that clear correlation with each other

The behaviour of alloys in the semi-solid state strongly depends on the imposed stress state and on the morphology of the phase which can very from dendritic to globular. The estimation of behaviour characteristic in the compression simulation with seim-solid materials are calculated by finite element method with proposed algorithm. The proposed theoretical model and a various boundary conditions for compression process is investigated with the coupling calculation between the liquid phase flow and the solid phase deformation. The simulation process considering soldification phenomena is performed to the isothermal conditions of two dimensional problems. To analysis of compression process by using semi-solid materials, a new stress-strain relationship is described, and compression analysis is performed by viscoelastic model for the solid phase and the Darcy's law for the liquid flow. The calculated results for compression force and ram displacement will be compared to experimental data.
The modified Cam clay (MCC) model is used to study the response of virgin compressed clay in undrained compression. The MCC deviatoric stress-strain relationship is obtained in closed form. Elastic and plastic deviatoric strains are taken into account in the analysis. For the determination of the elastic strain components, both a variable shear modulus and constant shear modulus are considered. Constitutive relationships are applied to the well-known London and Weald clays sheared in undrained compression.

High-bulk worsted yams with different shrinkable and non-shrinkable acrylic fibers blend ratios are produced and then single jersey weft knitted fabrics with three different structures and loop lengths are constructed. The physical properties of produced yams and compression properties of produced fabrics at eight pressure values (50, 100, 200, 500, 1000, 1500 and $2000 g/cm^2$) were measured using a conventional fabric thickness tester. Then, weft-knitted fabric compression behavior was analyzed using a two parameters model. It is found that at 40 % shrinkable fibre blending ratio the maximum yam bulk, shrinkage, abrasion resistance and minimum yarn strength are obtained. It is also shown that high-bulk acrylic yarn has the highest elongation at 20 % shrinkable fibre blend ratio. The statistical regression analysis revealed that the compression behavior of acrylic weft-knitted fabrics is highly closed to two parameter model proposed for woven fabrics. It is also shown that for weft-knitted structure, there is an incompressible layer (V') which resists against high compression load. Acrylic weft-knitted fabrics with knit-tuck structure exhibit higher compression rigidity and lower softness than the plain and knit-miss structures. In addition, at 20 % shrinkable fibre blend ratio, the high-bulk acrylic weft-knitted fabrics are highly compressible.

Solutions of geotechnical engineering problems require predictions of deformation and stresses during various stages of loading. Powerful numerical methods are available to make such predictions even for complicated problems. To get accurate results, realistic stress-strain relationships of soils are dependent on a number of factors such as soil type, density, stress level and stress path. Attempts are continuously being made to develope analytical models for soils incorporating all such factors. Isotropic compression-expansion test and a series of drained conventional triaxial tests with several stress path for Baekma river sand were performed to investigate stress-strain and volume change characteristics of Lade's single work hardening model dependant on the stress path. In order to predicted of stress-strain and volumetric strain behavior were determined the values of parameters for the mode by the computer program based on the regression analysis. Predicted stress-strain behavior of triaxial compression tests and optional stress path tests for increasing confining pressure with parameters obtained conventional triaxial compression tests agreed with several test results but the prediction results for decreasing confining pressure reduced triaxial compression tests make a little difference with test results.
When designing a redox flow battery system, compression of battery stack is required to prevent leakage of electrolyte and to reduce contact resistance between cell components. In addition, stack compression leads to deformation of the porous carbon electrode, which results in lower porosity and smaller cross-sectional area for electrolyte flow. In this paper, we investigate the effects of electrode compression on the cell performance by applying multi-dimensional, transient model of all-vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB). Simulation result reveals that large compression leads to greater pressure drop throughout the electrodes, which requires large pumping power to circulate electrolyte while lowered ohmic resistance results in better power capability of the battery. Also, cell compression results in imbalance between anolyte and catholyte and convective crossover of vanadium ions through the separator due to large pressure difference between negative and positive electrodes. Although it is predicted that the battery power is quickly improved due to the reduced ohmic resistance, the capacity decay of the battery is accelerated in the long term operation when the battery cell is compressed. Therefore, it is important to optimize the battery performance by taking trade-off between power and capacity when designing VRFB system.
A computer code was developed to simulate the filling stage of the injection/compression molding process by a finite element method. The constitutive equation used here was the compressible Leonov model. The PVT relationship was assumed to follow the Tait equation. The flow-induced birefringence was related to the calculated flow stresses through the linear stress-optical law. Simulations of a disk part under different process conditions including the variation of compression stroke and compression speed were carried out to understand their effects on birefringence variation. The simulated results were also compared with those by conventional injection molding.
In this study, Class II behavior of rock failure process under uniaxial and biaxial compression has been numerically simulated using bonded particle model. Class II behavior of rock was simulated by radial strain controlled uniaxial and biaxial compression tests using a suggested method of ISRM. Micro-parameters used in the simulation were determined based on the laboratory uniaxial compression tests carried out at ${\"{A}}sp{\"{o}}$ Hard Rock Laboratory, Sweden. Class II behavior of ${\"{A}}sp{\"{o}}$ rock was effectively simulated using newly proposed numerical technique in this study, and the results of numerical simulations show good similarity with the complete stress-strain curves for Class II behavior obtained from the laboratory tests.
The paper proposes analytical forms able to represent with very good approximation the constitutive law experimentally deducible by means of uniaxial cyclic compressive tests on material having softening post-peak behaviour in compression and negligible tensile strength. The envelope, unloading and reloading curves characterizing the proposed model adequately approach structural responses corresponding to different levels of nonlinearity and ductility, requiring a not very high number of parameters to be calibrated experimentally. The reliability of the model is shown by comparing the results that it is able to provide with the ones analytically deduced from two reference models (one for concrete, another for masonry) available in the literature, and with experimental results obtained by the authors in the framework of a research in progress.
