  • Let R be a strongly 2-primal ring and I a proper ideal of R. Then there are only finitely many prime ideals minimal over I if and only if for every prime ideal P minimal over I, the ideal $P/{\sqrt{I}}$ of $R/{\sqrt{I}}$ is finitely generated if and only if the ring $R/{\sqrt{I}}$ satisfies the ACC on right annihilators. This result extends "D. D. Anderson, A note on minimal prime ideals, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 122 (1994), no. 1, 13-14." to large classes of noncommutative rings. It is also shown that, a 2-primal ring R only has finitely many minimal prime ideals if each minimal prime ideal of R is finitely generated. Examples are provided to illustrate our results.

  • Let R be a ring and I be a proper ideal of R. For the case of R being commutative, Anderson proved that (*) there are only finitely many prime ideals minimal over I whenever every prime ideal minimal over I is finitely generated. We in this note extend the class of rings that satisfies the condition (*) to noncommutative rings, so called homomorphically IFP, which is a generalization of commutative rings. As a corollary we obtain that there are only finitely many minimal prime ideals in the polynomial ring over R when every minimal prime ideal of a homomorphically IFP ring R is finitely generated.

  • Let G be a graph on the vertex set $V(G)=\{x_1,{\cdots},x_n\}$ with the edge set E(G), and let $R=K[x_1,{\cdots},x_n]$ be the polynomial ring over a field K. Two monomial ideals are associated to G, the edge ideal I(G) generated by all monomials $x_i,x_j$ with $\{x_i,x_j\}{\in}E(G)$, and the vertex cover ideal $I_G$ generated by monomials ${\prod}_{x_i{\in}C}{^{x_i}}$ for all minimal vertex covers C of G. A minimal vertex cover of G is a subset $C{\subset}V(G)$ such that each edge has at least one vertex in C and no proper subset of C has the same property. Indeed, the vertex cover ideal of G is the Alexander dual of the edge ideal of G. In this paper, for an unmixed bipartite graph G we consider the lattice of vertex covers $L_G$ and we explicitly describe the minimal free resolution of the ideal associated to $L_G$ which is exactly the vertex cover ideal of G. Then we compute depth, projective dimension, regularity and extremal Betti numbers of R/I(G) in terms of the associated lattice.

  • Let (R,m) be a Cohen-Macaulay local ring with an infinite residue field and let $J = (a_1, \cdots, a_l)$ be a minimal reduction of an equimultiple ideal I of R. In this paper we shall prove that the following conditions are equivalent: (1) $I^2 = JI$. (2) $gr_I(R)/mgr_I(R)$ is Cohen-Macaulay with minimal multiplicity at its maximal homogeneous ideal N. (3) $N^2 = (a'_1, \cdots, a'_l)N$, where $a'_i$ denotes the images of $a_i$ in I/mI for $i = 1, \cdots, l$.

  • In this paper, we study and establish some interesting results of ideals in a poset. It is shown that for a nonzero ideal I of a poset P, there are at most two strongly prime ideals of P that are minimal over I. Also, we study the notion of primal ideals in a poset and the relationship among the primal ideals and strongly prime ideals is considered.

  • In [9], Geramita, Harbourne, and Migliore find a graded minimal free resolution of the 2nd order symbolic power of the ideal of a linear star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ n of any codimension r. In [8], Geramita, Galetto, Shin, and Van Tuyl extend the result on a general star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ but for codimension 2. In this paper, we find a graded minimal free resolution of the 2nd order symbolic power of the ideal of a general star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ of any codimension r using a matroid configuration in [10]. This generalizes both the result on a linear star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ of codimension r in [9] and the result on a general star configuration in ${\mathbb{P}}^n$ of codimension 2 in [8].

  • In this study, linear vibrations of an axially moving beam under non-ideal support conditions have been investigated. The main difference of this study from the other studies; the non-ideal clamped support allow minimal rotations and non-ideal simple support carry moment in minimal orders. Axially moving Euler-Bernoulli beam has simple and clamped support conditions that are discussed as combination of ideal and non-ideal boundary with weighting factor (k). Equations of the motion and boundary conditions have been obtained using Hamilton's Principle. Method of Multiple Scales, a perturbation technique, has been employed for solving the linear equations of motion. Linear equations of motion are solved and effects of different parameters on natural frequencies are investigated.

  • We classify complete intersections I of grade 3 in a regular local ring (R, M) by the number of minimal generators of a minimal prime ideal P over I. Here P is either a complete intersection or a Gorenstein ideal which is not a compete intersection.
