  • 최근 JVET(Joint Video Experts Team)은 새로운 비디오 압축 표준인 VVC(Versatile Video Coding)의 표준화를 시작하였다. 기존의 HEVC 및 VVC의 참조 SW 코덱인 HM 및 VTM(Versatile Test Model)에서는 효율적인 화면간 예측 부호화를 위한 움직임 정보 병합(Merge) 모드를 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 VTM 의 Merge 후보 리스트 구성에서 공간적 주변블록의 움직임 정보가 존재하지 않을 경우, 이를 대체할 수 있는 Merge 후보 리스트 생성 기법을 제시한다. JVET CTC(Common Test Condition)를 이용하여 제안한 기법의 실험을 진행하였고, 실험결과 Y, U, V 성분 각각 0.2%, 0.17%, 0.12%의 BD-rate 감소를 확인하였다.

Analysis of Turbulence on a Merge Influence Section in Uninterrupted Facility (연속류도로 합류영향구간 교통류 난류현상 분석)

  • Sections under the influence of merging in an uninterrupted facility create irregular interaction between vehicles, such as lane change, speed acceleration and deceleration because of the merging of ramp traffic flows which have traffic characteristics different from those of the main line. This causes a confused traffic flow phenomenon(turbulence), which is considered an unstable traffic characteristic between various continuous points in consideration of v conditions. In this study, in merge influence sections, detectors by lane-point were installed to create time and space-series -traffic data. The least significant difference(LSD), as the criteria for discriminating a significant speed change between points, was calculated to examine the turbulence. As a result, turbulence in merge influence section was found to change the zones of such occurrence and the seriousness levels according to traffic condition. Thus, the maximum merge influence section due to the turbulence was created in the traffic condition before congestion when traffic increases. According to characteristics of changes in speed, merge influence section was divided into upstream 100m$\sim$downstream 100m(a section of speed reduction), and downstream 100m$\sim$downstream 400m(a section of reduced speed maintenance and acceleration).

  • 관계데이터베이스를 이용한 XML 데이터저장방법에서 데이터가 삽입, 삭제, 갱신될 경우 인덱스를 제정의해야 하는 부담을 줄여주는 인덱스 기법을 제안한다. XML 데이터를 블록과 블록사이에 많아야 하나의 관계가 유지되도록 블록단위로 나누어 각 블록에 대해 Numbering 스킴을 적용하여 인덱스를 정의한다. 또한 정의된 인덱스를 이용하여 XML 질의 처리하기 Parent-Child Block Merge Algorithm과 Ancestor-Descendent Block Merge Algorithm을 제안한다.

  • Caption in video plays an important role that delivers video content. Existing caption region extraction methods are difficult to extract caption region from background because they are sensitive to noise. This paper proposes the method to extract caption region in sports video using multiple frame merge and MBR(Minimum Bounding Rectangles). As preprocessing, adaptive threshold can be extracted using contrast stretching and Othu Method. Caption frame interval is extracted by multiple frame merge and caption region is efficiently extracted by median filtering, morphological dilation, region labeling, candidate character region filtering, and MBR extraction.

  • This paper proposes the CU-based approach for merge candidate list construction for providing reduced complexity and improved parallelism compared to the PU-based one. In the proposed method, a CU can have only one merge candidate list. So, Only one common merge candidate list is used for all PUs in a CU regardless of the PU partition type. The simulation results of proposed method showed that the encoder computational complexity was decreased by 3% to 6% and the decoder computational complexity was negligible change with the penalty of roughly 0.2% - 0.5% coding loss. The proposed method has several advantages: it provides simpler design, reduced complexity, and improved parallelism.

  • A baggage handling system (BHS) in airport is an unified system for moving the passengers' baggage in designated time. Input baggage from the check-in counter travels to the baggage claim area or cargo handling terminal through this system. In particular, entryway BHS consists of conveyors, X-ray and sorters such as tilt-tray to send the baggage to departing airplane and it could have various problems for handling certain amount of baggage in restricted time such as baggage jamming at certain merge point. This causes systemic error such as delay of the time, omissions of the baggage and even breakdown of the equipment and inefficiency. Also the increasing maximum time of the baggage passing through the BHS could delay the flight schedule and finally decrease the service level. Thus, the algorithm for controlling the flow of the merge is essential to the system. The window reservation algorithm is the one of the most frequently used methods to control the merge configuration. Above all, the reserve location, so called reserve ahead point, that allocates the window is important for the performance of the algorithm. We propose the modified window reservation algorithm and the best reserve locations by changing the reserve ahead point in the induction conveyors. The effect of various reserve ahead points such as the capacity and utility of the system were analyzed and the most effective reserve ahead point combination was found. The total baggage processing time and the utilization of the tilt-tray are properly considered when choosing the optimal Reserve ahead point combination. In the layout of this study, the configuration of four conveyors merged into one tilt-tray is studied and simulation analysis is done by AutoMod(R), 3D simulation software. Through the simulation, the window reservation algorithm is effectively operated with the best combination of reserve ahead point which reduces the maximum baggage travel time.

  • Satellite image for national land monitoring is required high resolution and natural color with multi spectral band. the image is expensive as higher resolution. We need cheap image relatively in economic viewpoint but the image serves sufficient resolution to monitor national land. We merged two images to one image and evaluated the result. the two images which are used at the merge test are high resolution(2.5m per pixel) panchromatic and low resolution(10m per pixel) multi spectral image of SPOT-5 satellite. The result of this study. We made the merge image to have sufficient resolution for national monitoring.

  • In this paper, we show shortcomings of separate chaining scheme by way of experiments with NAND flash memory and improve the performance with merge chaining scheme which is proposed in this paper. We explain this merge chaining scheme and explain how to improve the performance of search operation. Merge chaining scheme shows better performance at insert and search operation compare to separate chaining scheme.

  • Chomsky (2001) and Kitahara's (2002) suggestion that object shift occurs prior to movement of the νP-subject to SPEC-T is not on the right track with respect to the Merge operation. According to the Merge operation, TP is necessarily created earlier than CP. Chomsky (2001) suggests that the probe-goal relation between T and SUBJ is evaluated in the CP after it is known whether the position of as has become a trace losing its phonological content. However, the FocP is not a phase (CP). So, Chomsky (2001) and Kitahara's (2002) suggestion is not correct in the case of the movement of OBJ to the spec of Foc in English, either. The aim of this paper is to show that the νP-subject must move to SPEC- T prior to the consecutive movement of the wh-object to SPEC-C via object shift in English. This derivation obeys Chomsky's (2001) so-called probe-goal matching condition.

  • Many physical systems today are modeled by interacting continuous and discrete states that influence the dynamic behavior. Hybrid system models, suitable for describing the essential dynamics of a fairly large class of physical systems in control engineering applications, contain both continuous dynamics and discrete dynamics. We discuss the design of efficient hybrid controllers for the platoon maneuvers on an AHS. For the modeling of a hybrid system including the merge and split operations, we introduce the safety distance policy for the merge and split operations.
