Effects of YkJungJiHwangTang(YJJHT) on Inhibition of Impairment of Learning and Memory, and Acetylcholinesterase in Amnesia Mice (익정지황탕(益精地黃湯)이 치매병태(痴寐病態)모델에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • Alzheimer's disease(AD) is progressive neurodegenerative disease, which is pathologically characterized by neuritic plaques and neurofibrillary tangles associated with the acetylcholinesterase, apolipoprotein E and butylcholinesterase, and by mutations in the presenilin genes PSI and PS2, and amyloid precursor proteins (APP) overexpression. The present research is to examine the inhibition effect of YJJHT on PS-1, PS-2 and APP overexpression by detected to Western blotting. To verify the EFFects of YJJHT on cognitive deficits further, we tested it on the scopolamine-induced amnesia model of the mice using the Morris water maze tests. and there was ameliorative effects of memory impairment s a protection to scopolamine. YJJHT only partially blocked the increase in blood serum level of acetylcholinesterase and Uric acid induced by scopolamine. whereas blood glucose level was shown to attenuate the amnesia induced by scopolamine and inreased extracellular serum level compared with only scopolamine injection. In conclusion, studies of YJJHT that has been know as anti-choline and inhibition ablilities of APP overexpression, this could also be used further as a important research data for a preventive and promising symptomatic treatment for Alzheimer's disease.

  • The reliability of a computer system largely depends on that of its memory systems, which are vulnerable to soft errors. Soft errors can be coped with a combination of an Error Detection & Correction circuit and scrubbing operation. Smaller geometries and lower voltage of advanced memories makes them more prone to suffer multibit soft errors. A memory structure against multibit soft errors and a suitable scrubbing scheme for it were proposed. This paper introduces a key issue for the scrubbing of the memories with protection against multibit soft errors and the result of the performance analysis from a reliability point of view.

  • To assess the seismic performance of Plate-Shell Integrated Concrete Liquid-Storage Structure (PSICLSS), a scaled test model was constructed. This model incorporated a hybrid isolation system, which combined shape memory alloy (SMA), lead-cored rubber isolation bearing (LRB) and sliding isolation bearing (SB). By conducting shaking table test, the dynamic responses of both non-isolated and hybrid-isolated PSICLSS were analyzed. The results show that the hybrid isolation system can effectively reduce the acceleration and displacement responses of the structure. However, it also results in an increase in local hydrodynamic pressure and liquid sloshing height. Under extreme earthquake action, the displacement of isolation layer is small. When vertical ground motion is taken into account, the shock absorption rate of horizontal acceleration decreases. The peak hydrodynamic pressure increases significantly, and the peak hydrodynamic pressure position also changes. The maximum displacement of isolation layer increases, the residual displacement decreases.

A Data Protection Scheme based on Hilbert Curve for Data Aggregation in Wireless Sensor Network (센서 네트워크에서 데이터 집계를 위한 힐버트 커브 기반 데이터 보호 기법)

  • Because a sensor node in wireless sensor networks(WSNs) has limited resources, such as battery capacity and memory, data aggregation techniques have been studied to manage the limited resources efficiently. Because sensor network uses wireless communication, a data can be disclosed by attacker. Thus, the study on data protection schemes for data aggregation is essential in WSNs. But the existing data aggregation methods require both a large number of computation and communication, in case of network construction and data aggregation processing. To solve the problem, we propose a data protection scheme based on Hilbert-curve for data aggregation. Our scheme can minimizes communications among neighboring sensor nodes by using tree-based routing. Moreover, it can protect the data from attacker by doing encryption through a Hilbert-curve technique based on a private seed, Finally, we show that our scheme outperforms the existing methods in terms of message transmission and average sensor node lifetime.

Ultraviolet A Induces Immunosuppression, Protection or Memory Enhancement Depending on Dose, while Ultraviolet B is Immunosuppressive and Tolerogenic over a Large Dose Range

  • UVR-induced immunosuppression contributes to skin cancer. The aim was to construct accurate dose response curves for primary and secondary contact sensitivity for solar-simulated UVR (ssUVR; 290-400nm), UVA and UVB as the role of UVA in immunosuppression is controversial. We used a xenon arc source. The mice were immobilised, enabling accurate dosing. C57BL/6 mice were immunosuppressed at half the dose of ssUVR required to cause sunburn but not by higher doses (up to the sunburn dose). Thus, ssUVR causes systemic immunosuppression only over a narrow, low dose range. UVA caused suppression at low but not high doses whereas UVB induced immunosuppression at all doses tested. 8 weeks later the mice were resensitised to assess tolerance. Mice exposed to the minimum immunosuppressive dose of ssUVR prior to primary sensitisation were tolerant to re-sensitisation. However, at higher doses of ssUVR, these mice were protected from tolerance. Interestingly, while low doses of UV A caused immunosuppression, even lower doses enhanced the response to the second sensitisation. Higher doses of UVA had no affect. UVB induced tolerance in a dose related manner. Thus, ssUVR only induces immunosuppression and tolerance over a narrow dose range. Both UVA and UVB are immunosuppressive at this dose, while higher doses of UVA protect from the suppressive effects of UVB. Surprisingly very low doses of UVA enhanced memory development. Thus UVR has complex effects on the immune system depending on dose and spectrum.

  • Recently, virtualization has become an essential component of cloud computing due to its various strengths, including maximizing server resource utilization, easy-to-maintain software, and enhanced data protection. However, since virtualization allows sharing physical resources among the VMs, the system performance can be deteriorated due to device contentions. In this paper, we first investigate the I/O overhead based on the number of VMs on the same server platform and analyze the block I/O process of the KVM hypervisor. We also propose an in-memory block cache mechanism, called QBic, to overcome I/O virtualization latency. QBic is capable of monitoring the block I/O process of the hypervisor and stores the data with a high access frequency in the cache. As a result, QBic provides a fast response for VMs and reduces the I/O contention to physical devices. Finally, we present a performance measurement of QBic to verify its effectiveness.

  • Scutellariae baicalensis GEORGt Acorus gramineus SOLAND and Gastrodia elata BLUME are traditional medicines used in the treatment of incipient stoke. In this study we investigated their effects on various aspects of neuronal differentiation in single or composite forms. Water-extracts of these medicines showed neuroprotective effects on cultured rat cortical neurons in normoxia and hypoxia. To understand the mechanism for neuroprotection we carried out various cell biological assays. They stimulated initial differentiation of neuronal development (transition from stage 1 to 2), and increased the number of spines and the length and number of dendritic processes. These effects were best manifested in the experimental group, which were given a mixture of the three kinds of extracts (p<0.01). To assess improvement of brain functions we carried out Morris water-maze tests for the mice that were fed on these extracts instead of water for 4 weeks. The experimental groups, especially those which were given the mixture of the three kinds of extract, showed significant (p<0.01) enhancement in memory as early as one day after the learning trial. These results indicate that these three kinds of extracts have synergistic effects on neuronal protection and improvement of brain functions.

  • In this papers, We studied system requirement specification, hardware design and implementation, protective algorithm and software design method to implement digital protective relay which has high trust and high function of protection as well as control and metering for power transformers. Protective relay for transformer is implemented on real time using DSP, which is the specific processor for digital signal processing, as a result, it is completed by the wide improvement of arithmetic capability of protective relay. Reliability is proved testing operating value and operating time, reset value and reset time of an relaying element using protective relay tester made in NF Corporation of Japan.
