The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of instructional multi-media in Home Economics Education perceived by teachers. The data for this research were attained from 139 middle & high school teachers of Home Economics. The data were analyzed by frequency of distribution, mean, stand deviation. t-test and analysis of variance, scheffe test with SPSSWin 7.5 program. The results of this study are as follows: The effects of instructional multi-media were composed of four dimensions in this study; need, frequency of use, pros and cons. 1. From these four dimensions, the need has the highest and the frequency of use has the lowest score. 2. The effects of instructional multi-media are significantly related to personal & environmental characteristics. 1)Need of the instructional multi-media effects is significantly different according to age, experience of computer education and possession of a computer at home. Low and high age groups are higher in the need of the instructional multi-media effects score than middle group age and the more experience of computer education and possession of a computer at home are higher in that score. 2) Frequency of use is significantly different according to LAN system in school. The higher score of frequency of use is in a LAN system’s school. 3) Pros of the instructional multi-media effects is significantly different according to the level of education, experience of computer education and the type of school. Undergraduate high school teachers and the lower o experience of computer education are higher in the pros of the instructional multi-media effects score. 4) Cons of the instructional multi-media effects is significantly different according to the level of education. Graduate teachers are higher in the cons of the instructional multi-media effects score.

This study examined the effects of media exposure and involvement on objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors. The subjects were 325 female university students in Daejeon and Chungnam Province. The research method was a survey, and the questionnaire was composed of media exposure and involvement, objectified body consciousness, appearance management behaviors, and subjects' demographic characteristics. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, and regression analysis using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, female university students used mass media for about 3.76 hours a day and showed a high level of media involvement. Second, three factors (body surveillance, body shame, and appearance control belief) emerged regarding objectified body consciousness with female university students showing a high level of objectified body consciousness. Third, six factors (make-up, plastic surgery, weight control, fashion, hair, and skin care) emerged regarding appearance management behaviors with female university students showing high intention to perform various appearance management behaviors. Fourth, media exposure and involvement had important effects on objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors, and media involvement was a more important variable than media exposure. Fifth, objectified body consciousness had important effects on appearance management behaviors. Body shame had more important effects on skin care, weight control, and plastic surgery behaviors, while body surveillance had more important effects on fashion, make-up, and hair management behaviors than other objectified consciousness factors. The implication of this study was that media involvement is a more important variable affecting objectified body consciousness and appearance management behaviors than media exposure, and among objectified body consciousness dimensions, body shame has important effects on more active appearance management behaviors like weight control and plastic surgery behaviors.
This study explored the effects of the parasocial relationship formed by CCTV (China Central Television) TV news and non-traditional news on users' perceived media credibility and their online and offline political participation. This study conducted a survey with the Chinese CCTV users between April 19 and April 30, 2021, and finally, 701 respondents' data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The study results showed that both TV news and non-traditional news had positive effects on parasocial relationships and the parasocial relationship positively influenced media credibility, which subsequently facilitated political participation. However, there was no direct effect between media usage and media credibility. This implies the important mediating role of parasocial interactions, which enables CCTV news to gain media credibility and subsequently influence political participation. This study suggests that CCTV needs to improve the parasocial interactions between their audience and media figures by utilizing the interactive mechanism of non-traditional media.

Recently, as the development of 3D contents service, production of 4D media that user can feel physical effects by the scene of movie has been increased. This 4D media uses the SMMD (Single Media Multiple Devices) method to give users enhanced effects with multiple devices playing rather than the SMSD (Single Media Single Device) method with single device playing in a smart TV environment. To give more sensible effects to users, from the beginning of making one media, we produced 4D media that consists of 3D contents and the SEM (Sensory Effect Metadata) to define effects of the scene. 4D media is transmitted to a HS (Home Server) to represent 3D contents in 3DTV and multiple devices with synchronized way. In this paper, we suggested the concept and overall 4D media broadcasting service system architecture, aggregator time acquisition, media time scheduling, real-sense device scheduling, evaluation results, user interfaces and implemented devices.
Objective: This study explored the mediating effects of language development on the influences of young children's media use on positive and negative peer interactions. Methods: The data came from the 2013 Panel Study on Korean Children (N = 1,215) and were analyzed to assess the mediating effects of media use on positive and negative peer interactions, using SEM with the bootstrapping method by means of SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 20.0. Results and Conclusion: The results show that increased media use affects positive and negative peer interactions through language development. This indicates that, while media use does not directly affect positive and negative peer interactions, it appears to increase the difficulty of developing language ability; as the language development worsens, undesirable peer interactions may develop. Thus, language development seems to play an important mediating role between media use and peer interactions. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

In this paper, a method to extract temperature effect information using the color temperatures of video scenes with mapping to temperature effects is proposed to author temperature effects of multiple sensorial media content automatically. An authoring tool to apply the proposed method is also introduced. The temperature effects generated by the proposed method are evaluated by a subjective test to measure the level of satisfaction. The mean opinion score results show that most of the test video sequences receive an average of approximately four points (in a five-point scale), indicating that test video sequences (with the temperature effects generated by the proposed method) enhance levels of satisfaction.
A sensible media simulation system for automobiles is introduced to open up new possibilities for an in-car entertainment system. In this paper, the system architecture is presented, which includes a virtuality-to-reality adaptation scheme. Standard data schemes for context and control information from the International Standard MPEG-V (ISO/IEC 23005) are introduced to explain the details of data formats, which are interchangeable in the system. A sensible media simulator and the implementation of a sensory device are presented to prove the effectiveness of the proposed system. Finally, a correlation between learning styles and sensory effects (that is, wind and vibration effects) is statistically analyzed using the proposed system. The experiment results show that the level of satisfaction with the sensory effects is unaffected overall by the learning styles of the test subjects. Stimulations by vibration effects, however, generate more satisfaction in people with a high tactile perception level or a low visual perception level.

This study delved into the effects of labor union members' social media utilization for the formation of labor union social capital. Specifically, this study aimed to identify the effects of labor union-related social media use and participation on the labor union's social capital formation through quantitative and qualitative research. It set up trust, network, and participation as social capital components and as dependent variables. Network, in particular, was divided into bonding and bridging aspect. There is the correlation between labor union-related social media use and the formation of labor union social capital. As participation in the group type social media operated by a labor union becomes more active, evaluation on labor union social capital throughout trust, network, and participation is higher. Especially, the correlation between bonding network and bridging network was high. This proves that a labor union's bond enhancement does not result in the labor union's selfishness, but it can build a cooperative system with an external network.
Among several theories to explain how different communication media affect task performance, media richness theory(MRT) is one of the most frequently cited. Recent studies related to the use of communication media, however, have raised the question of the effectiveness of the MRT as a predictor of media choices or of individual effectiveness. The objective of this research is to examine the assumptions of the MRT. MRT proposes that the properties of media are objective in other words, they are inherent and physical attributes recognizable by users. This study experiments on the effects of task characteristics and medium experience on the perceived media richness and social presence. The results of this study did not support the assumptions of the MRT. There was an interaction effects of task characteristics and medium experience on both the perceived media richness and social presence. While the inexperienced computer-mediated communication(CMC) group perceives their medium richer for the unequivocal task, the experienced CMC group perceives their medium equally for the equivocal and the unequivocal task.
This study examines some cognitive development effects of mass media while testing the relations between mass media consumption and academic achievement and intelligence. In this research, students' television, newspaper, and internet consumption behaviors are used as independent variables which include motivations and magnitude of various content categories' and total consumption of those media. Dependent variables are school courses' test scores and eight intelligence scores based on Howard Gardner's multiple intelligence theory. It was found that media consumption magnitudes of various content categories have the most strong effects on those dependent variables. Each of various media consumption behaviors are found to have different effects according to which variable is dependent. For example, total internet consumption have positive effects on logical-mathematical intelligence but negative effects school achievements. Internet game sight have positive effects on logical-mathematical intelligence but negative effects on musical intelligence. It may be concluded that cognitive development is dependent mainly on what media contents students consume. Media consumption behaviors may have positive effects on some kinds of cognitive development and negative effects on other kinds. In other words, television or internet may have positive effects on academic achievement or intelligence contrary to popular thinking.
