SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Ver. 23.0 for windows를 이용하여 분석되었다.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of exercise program on cardiopulmonary functions and shoulder joint functioning in breast cancer patients who under- went radiation therapy after surgery. Method: Subjects in the experimental group(N=12) participated in an exercise program for eight weeks. The Exercise program consisted of shoulder stretching, arm weight training, and walking on treadmill. Maximal oxygen uptake (v2max), maximal running time, shoulder joint range of motion, and shoulder functional assessment were determined before and after the exercise program. Baseline sociodemographic and medical data were compared between experimental group and control group using the Fisher's exact test and Mann- Whitney U test. For effects of the exercise program, repeated measures ANOVA were used. Result: 1) Following the exercise program for eight weeks, both v$\alpha$ max and maximal running time tended to increase in experimental group comparing with the control group. 2) Shoulder abduction, extension and flexion of the operated upper extremity in the experimental group comparing with control significantly increased after the exercise program(p<0.05). 3) Shoulder flexion of the normal upper extremity in the experimental group comparing with control significantly increased after the exercise program(p<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that the exercise program for breast cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy after breast surgery can improve shoulder functions and increase cardiopulmonary functions, which are maximal oxygen uptake and maximal running time.

  • Mining interesting patterns from DNA sequences is one of the most challenging tasks in bioinformatics and computational biology. Maximal contiguous frequent patterns are preferable for expressing the function and structure of DNA sequences and hence can capture the common data characteristics among related sequences. Biologists are interested in finding frequent orderly arrangements of motifs that are responsible for similar expression of a group of genes. In order to reduce mining time and complexity, however, most existing sequence mining algorithms either focus on finding short DNA sequences or require explicit specification of sequence lengths in advance. The challenge is to find longer sequences without specifying sequence lengths in advance. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach to mining maximal contiguous frequent patterns from large DNA sequence datasets. The experimental results show that our proposed approach is memory-efficient and mines maximal contiguous frequent patterns within a reasonable time.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference of EMG activity of the Orbicularis oris and Mentalis muscle between normal occlusion and class III malocclusion group during various lip position and to find out whether any correlations exist between the muscular activity and craniofacial morphology. In this study, 50 subjects with a mean age of 22.9 Years (range 20.0-26.0) were investigated (25 subjects were normal occlusion, and 25 subjects were class III malocclusion). EMG data were recorded from the Orbicularis oris and Mentalis muscle during rest lip posture, lip position at maximum biting, lip position at maximum sealing effort, lip position at chewing, swallowing and phonation with the Medelec MS-25 electromyographic machine. Lateral cephalometric radiographs was taken with the mandible in intercuspal position on all subjects. All data were recorded and statistically processed. The findings of this study can be summerized as follows: 1. In normal occlusion, the maximal mean amplitude of upper lip during the lip position at chewing was lower than that of lower lip and mentalis muscle. But the maximal mean amplitude of orbicularis oris and mentalis muscle during the other lip position was not statistically different. 2. In Class III malocclusion, the maximal mean amplitude of upper lip during the lip position at chewing, swallowing and phonation was lower than that of lower lip and mentalis muscle. But the maximal mean amplitude of orbicularis oris and mentalis muscle during the other lip position was not statistically different. 3. Compare to normal occlusion, the Class III malocclusion was showed low maximal mean amplitude of upper lip during rest lip posture and the lip position at swallowing of saliva, and showed great maximal mean amplitude of lower lip and meantalis muscle during the lip position at chewing and phonation. 4. In normal occlusion, the maximal mean amplitude of upper lip during various lip position was not correlated with the length and thickness of upper lip, but the maximal mean amplitude of lower lip during the lip position at chewing and swallowing was positively correlated with the thickness of lower lip. 5. In Class III malocclusion, the maximal mean amplitude of upper lip during rest lip posture was negatively correlated with the thickness of upper lip, and the maximal mean amplitude of lower lip and mentalis muscle during the lip position at chewing and swallowing was positively correlated with the thickness of lower lip and mentalis muscle. But the maximal mean amplitude of orbicularis oris and mentalis muscle during the other lip position was not correlated with the cephalometric measurements of soft tissue. 6. The correlation between the maximal mean amplitude of orbicularis oris and mentalis muscle and cephalometric measurements of incisors was not nearly present. 7. In normal occlusion, the maximal mean amplitude of lower lip and mentalis muscle during the lip position at maximum biting was negatively correlated with the angle between palatal plane and mandibular plane. In Class III malocclusion, the maximal mean amplitude of upper lip, lower lip and mentalis muscle during function was negatively correlated with the length of maxilla, the maximal mean amplitude of upper lip and lower lip during function was negatively correlated with the SNA and SNPo, and the maximal mean amplitude of lower lip during the lip position at chewing was negatively correlated with the ANB.

  • The partitioning of related objects should be performed before clustering for an efficient access in object-oriented databases. In this paper, a horizontal partition of related objects in object-oriented databases is presented. All subclass nodes in a class inheritance hierarchy of a schema graph are shrunk to a class node in the graph that is called condensed schema graph because the aggregation hierarchy has more influence on the partition than the class inheritance hierarchy. A set function and an accessibility function are defined to find a maximal subset of related objects among the set of objects in a class. A set function maps a subset of the domain class objects to a subset of the range class objects. An accessibility function maps a subset of the objects of a class into a subset of the objects of the same class through a composition of set functions. The algorithm derived in this paper is to find the related objects of a condensed schema graph using accessibility functions and set functions. The existence of a maximal subset of the related objects in a class is proved to show the validity of the partition algorithm using the accessibility function.

  • Let Mf(x) be the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function on $\mathbb{R}^n$. Let $\Phi$ and $\Psi$ be functions satisfying $\Phi$(t) = ${\int^t}_0$a(s)ds and $\Psi(t)$ = ${\int^t}_0$b(s)ds, where a(s) and b(s) are positive continuous such that ${\int^\infty}_0\frac{a(s)}{s}ds$ = $\infty$ and b(s) is quasi-increasing. We show that if there exists a constant $c_1$ so that ${\int^s}_0\frac{a(t)}{t}dt\;c_1b(c_1s)$ for all $s\geq0$, then there exists a constant $c_1$ such that(0.1) $\int_{\mathbb{R^{n}}$ $\Phi(Mf(x))dx\;\leq\;c_2$ $\int_\mathbb{R^{n}}$$\Psi(c_2\midf(x)\mid)dx$ for all $f\epsilonL^1(R^n_$. Conversely, if there exists a constant $c_2$ satisfying the condition (0.1), then there exists a constant $c_1$ so that ${\int^s}_\delta\frac{a(t)}{t}dt=;\leq\;c_1b(c_1s$ for all $\delta$ > 0 and $s\geq\delta$.

  • Breathing is controlled by complex interactions between the central and peripheral nervous systems in conjunction with the respiratory system. Neurological diseases predispose patients to nocturnal desaturation and pneumonia due to respiratory dysfunction, which increases mortality, daytime sleepiness and fatigue, and reduces the quality of life. Respiratory function tests are required to identify respiratory function decline and to consider compensatory management. This review summarizes the characteristics of several respiratory function tests and their applications to neurological diseases.

  • We introduce Lipschitz algebras of differentiable functions of a perfect compact plane set X and extend the definition to Lipschitz algebras of infinitely differentiable functions of X. Then we define the subalgebras generated by polynomials, rational functions, and analytic functions in some neighbourhood of X, and determine the maximal ideal spaces of some of these algebras. We investigate the polynomial and rational approximation problems on certain compact sets X.
