  • Prouhet string morphism has been a well investigated morphism in different studies on combinatorics on words. In this paper we consider Prouhet array morphism for the images of binary picture arrays in terms of Parikh q-matrices. We state the formulae to calculate q-counting scattered subwords of the images of any arrays under this array morphism and also investigate the properties such as q-weak ratio property and commutative property under this array morphism in terms of Parikh q- matrices of arrays.

  • One of the terms that are most often used in mathematics classrooms by either teachers or students might be about 'understanding' of mathematical concepts. Although 'understanding' in mathematics teaching and learning has been highly emphasized by many people, there is no exact and undebatable definition of 'understanding' as of yet. This paper tries to contribute to unfolding the meaning and the structure of understanding in mathematics education along with various literature and finally enhance our understanding of 'understanding' in mathematics education.

  • Over the years, the benefits of instructional manipulatives in mathematics education have been verified by classroom practice and educational research. The purpose of this paper is to introduce how the instructional material, specifically, geoboard could be used and integrated in elementary mathematics classroom in order to develop student's mathematical concepts and process in terms of the following areas: (1) Number '||'&'||' Operation : counting, fraction '||'&'||' additio $n_traction/multiplication (2) Geometry : geometric concepts (3) Geometry : symmetry '||'&'||' motion (4) Measurement : area '||'&'||' perimeter (5) Probability '||'&'||' Statistics : table '||'&'||' graph (6) Pattern : finding patterns Further, future study will continue to foster how manipulatives will enhance children's mathematics knowledge and influence on their mathematics performance.

  • We shall discuss some properties of quasi-homomorphisms associated with automata. We shall give some characterizations in terms of characteristic semigroups for regular and invertible attomata.

  • This paper examines and presents descriptions of 12 prospective primary teachers' views on the nature of mathematics in USA. All the participants were elementary teacher candidates enrolled in the same mathematics method courses. Interview data show that the prospective primary teachers possess two kinds of views on the nature of mathematics: primarily traditional and even mix of traditional and nontraditional beliefs in terms of Raymond's (1997) belief criteria. Implications for teacher education were discussed at the end of the paper.

  • Facility location problems deal with the concept of centrality and centrality questions are examined using graphs and eccentricity. In this paper, we give interesting properties of a tree in relation with the number of central vertices and peripheral vertices. Also we have some conditions to be an eccentric graph in terms of the girth of a graph.
