This paper describes synchronization concept and algorithm of the reverse DS-SS/TDMA control channel to handle satellite terminals which are distributed through the mission area. Military satellite control channel should have ECCM capabilities and handle more than several hundreds satcom terminals simultaneously. DS-SS/TDMA control channel can satisfy these demand but it spend much synchronization time. Proposed algorithm insert the preamble which is divided with several short sub bins prior to control data and use the parallel matched filtering searcher for each sub bin. As a result of the test, proposed algorithm can acquire most of control channel packet successfully within several milliseconds in severe jamming environment.
In this paper, we propose a method for the postprocessing of cursive script recognition in Wine Label Images. The proposed method mainly consists of three steps: combination matrix generation, character combination filtering, string matching. Firstly, the combination matrix generation step detects all possible combinations from a recognition result for each of the pieces. Secondly, the unnecessary information in the combination matrix is removed by comparing with bigram of word in the lexicon. Finally, string matching step decides the identity of result as a best matched word in the lexicon based on the levenshtein distance. An experimental result shows that the recognition accuracy is 85.8%.

This paper presents an SVD(Singular Value Decomposition)-Pseudo Spectrum method for SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging. The purpose of this work is to improve resolution and target separability of SAR images. This paper proposes SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method whose advantages are noise robustness, reduction of sidelobes and high resolution of spectral estimation. SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method uses Hankel Matrix of signal components and SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) method. In this paper, it is demonstrated that the SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method shows better performance than the matched filtering method and the conventional super-resolution based multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method in SAR image processing. The targets to be separated are modeled, and this modeled data is used to demonstrate the performance of algorithms.
Traditional three-dimensional (3-D) laser imaging systems are based on real aperture imaging technology, whose resolution decreases as the range increases. In this paper, we develop a novel 3-D imaging technique based on the synthetic aperture technology in which the imaging resolution is significantly improved and does not degrade with the increase of the range. We consider an imaging laser radar (ladar) system using the floodlight transmitting mode and multi-beam receiving mode. High 3-D imaging resolutions are achieved by matched filtering the linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals respectively in range, synthetic aperture along-track, and the real aperture across-track. In this paper, a novel 3-D imaging signal model is given first. Because of the motion during the transmission of a sweep, the Doppler shift induced by the continuous motion is taken into account. And then, a proper algorithm for the 3-D imaging geometry is given. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
In this paper, we study the method of estimating direction of departure(DOD) and direction of arrival(DOA) using estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariant techniques (ESPRIT) in uniform linear array MIMO radar system. While it is possible to improve the resolution by increasing the numbers of physical antennas and snapshots after matched filtering, such methods generally give rise to increase in complexity. In this paper, we propose to improve the resolution by optimally allocating the number of transmit and receive antennas. In particular, we show that the performance is optimized when the number of the receive antennas is approximately twice that of transmit antennas.

The construction of panoramic images on smartphones and low-powered devices is a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a new approach for smoothly stitching images on mobile phones in the presence of moving objects in the scene. Our main contributions include handling moving object problems, reducing processing time, and generating rectangular panoramic images. First, unique and robust feature points are extracted using fast ORB method and a feature matching technique is applied to match the extracted feature points. After obtaining good matched feature points, we employ the non-deterministic RANSAC algorithm to discard wrong matches, and the hommography transformation matrix parameters are estimated with the algorithm. Afterward, we determine precise overlap regions of neighboring images and calculate their absolute differences. Then, thresholding operation and noise removal filtering are applied to create a mask of possible moving object regions. Sequentially, an optimal seam is estimated using dynamic programming algorithm, and a combination of linear blending with the mask information is applied to avoid seam transition and ghosting artifacts. Finally, image-cropping operation is utilized to obtain a rectangular boundary image from the stitched image. Experiments demonstrate that our method is able to produce panoramic images quickly despite the existence of moving objects.

Ultra-wideband(UWB) radar is widely used in many penetration radar applications, such as ground-penetrating radar and foliage-penetrating radar, because it has many advantages in detecting concealed objects. One type of UWB radar system is random noise radar, which many be robust to jamming environment. However conventional random noise radar requires high-speed analog-to-digital convertor(ADC) for matched filtering. In this thesis, a pseudo-random noise radar system that maintains anti-jamming characteristics but does not require high-speed ADC is researched. and The UWB system is implemented in a low frequency system, and its performance has been demonstrated by experiment, which proves the concept of the proposed pseudo-random noise radar system.
The Ieodo Ocean Research Station (IORS) lies between the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) boundaries of Korea, Japan, and China. The geographical positioning of the IORS makes it ideal for monitoring ships in the area. In this study, we introduce ship monitoring results by Automatic Identification System (AIS) and the Broadband 3GTM radar, which has been developed for use in small ships using the Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technique. AIS and FMCW radar data were collected at IORS from November 23th to 30th, 2013. The acquired FMCW radar data was converted to 2-D binary image format over pre-processing, including the internal and external noise filtering. The ship positions detected by FMCW radar images were passed into a tracking algorithm. We then compared the detection and tracking results from FMCW radar with AIS information and found that they were relatively well matched. Tracking performance is especially good when ships are across from each other. The results also show good monitoring capability for small fishing ships, even those not equipped with AIS or with a dysfunctional AIS.
A novel inductance simulation circuit employing only two dual-output voltage-differencing buffered amplifiers (DO-VDBAs) and a single capacitance (grounded) is proposed in this paper. The reported configuration is a purely resistor-less realization that provides electronically controllable realized inductance through biasing quantities of DO-VDBAs and does not rely on any constraints related to matched values of parameters. This structure exhibits excellent behavior under the influence of tracking errors in DO-VDBAs and does not exhibit instability at high frequencies. The simple and compact metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) implementation of the DO-VDBAs (eight MOS per DO-VDBA) and adoption of grounded capacitance make the proposed circuit suitable for on-chip realization from the perspective of chip area consumption. The function of the pure grounded inductance is validated through high pass/bandpass filtering applications. To test the proposed design, simulations were performed in the PSPICE environment. Experimental validation was also conducted using the integrated circuit CA3080 and operational amplifier LF-356.

In frequency selective channels, conventional PN code acquisition schemes are not ideal candidates. This is because they are primarily designed for the AWGN channel. In this paper, a direct-sequence spread-spectrum(DSSS) PN code acquisition system based on digital matched filtering (DMF) with automatic threshold control(ATC) algorithm is presented and analyzed with regards to probability of detection and probability of false alarm. These two important probabilities, the probability of detection ($P_D$) and the probability of false alarm ($P_{FA}$) are derived and analyzed in considering Doppler shift, sampling rate, mean acquisition time, and PN chip rate in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channel when using serial-search method as detection technique. From computer simulation results of a DMF acquisition system model, it is shown that the performance of the acquisition system using ATC algorithm is better than that of constant threshold system.
