서울 일부 지역 중학생의 아토피피부염 및 천식에 대한 인식과 간식 섭취 실태 (Recognition of Atopic Dermatitis, Asthma and the Snack Intake Status among Middle School Students in Seoul)

  • The aim of this study was to acquire information related to recognition of atopic dermatitis, asthma, and snack intake status among middle school students in the Seoul area. The survey was carried out by self-questionnaires on 535 students in the 2nd and 3rd grade (88 Patients: atopic dermatitis and asthma group and 428 Control: healthy group). All data were analyzed using SPSS (version 13.0) software. The results were as follows: Among patients, females (61.4%) had a significantly higher prevalence of symptoms than males (38.6%) (p<0.001). Body mass index was not significantly different between the patients and Control group. The most common source for obtaining information about atopic dermatitis and asthma was 'TV or radio' (38.4%), followed by 'family members or relatives' (27.3%) in patients, but 'Internet' (22.2%) was most common in the control group (p<0.05). Although awareness of atopic dermatitis and asthma was similarly low between the two groups, patients had a higher percentage of correct answers on atopic knowledge (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in knowledge of asthma between the two groups. Frequency of snack intake was significantly lower in patients (p<0.05), and consumption of sundae, fried food, liquefied fermented milk, hamburger, pizza, and french fries was also significantly lower (p<0.05). The reason of selecting snacks was mainly 'taste' in both groups. In conclusion, education regarding atopic knowledge and appropriate snack selection is necessary for students with atopic dermatitis or asthma.

초등 과학 영재 학생들의 '작은 생물'에 대한 오개념 연구 (A Study on Scientifically-Gifted Students' Misconceptions regarding 'Small Living Things')

  • The aims of this study were to investigate the differences of the proportion of misconceptions and the reasons for selecting responses related to questions about small living things between talented and average students. The study subjects were made up of three groups. They were a class of 37 talented elementary students in science attending J National University of Education, a class of 37 talented students in science attending J City Office of Education, and a class of 33 average students attending J City. A questionnaire was composed of 20 test questions for examination of concepts related to small living things. The data obtained in this study was analyzed using a statistical program. The major results were as follows: In general, the level of the scientific concepts possessed by the talented students was much higher than that of the average students, especially in question 14. The reasons for the misconceptions which were revealed through this study were classified into vagueness of the language used, hasty decision and deduction making, using the wrong analogical inference, mass communications (TV or internet) and experimental differences between individuals. In terms of the reasons for the selection of a given response, the talented students had also a higher frequency in the 'science books for children' category than the average students, indicating that various kinds of science books for children have an influence on the formation of concepts on small living things. The misconception proportion of male students was 5.4% higher than that of female students in mean frequencies of all questions, although the difference was not statistically significant except for question 4. Data from this study may help teachers involved in education for gifted students to reconsider their conceptions on small living things.

Relationships between Descriptive Sensory Attributes and Physicochemical Analysis of Broiler and Taiwan Native Chicken Breast Meat

  • Unique organoleptic characteristics such as rich flavors and chewy texture contribute to the higher popularity of native chicken in many Asian areas, while the commercial broilers are well-accepted due to their fast-growing and higher yields of meat. Sensory attributes of foods are often used to evaluate food eating quality and serve as references during the selection of foods. In this study, a three-phase descriptive sensory study was conducted to evaluate the sensory attributes of commercial broiler (BR) and Taiwan native chicken (TNC) breast meat, and investigate correlations between these sensory attributes and instrumental measurements. The results showed that for the first bite (phase 1), TNC meat had significantly higher moisture release, hardness, springiness, and cohesiveness than BR meat. After chewing for 10 to 12 bites (phase 2), TNC meat presented significantly higher chewdown hardness and meat particle size, whereas BR meat had significantly higher cohesiveness of mass. After swallowing (phase 3), TNC meat had higher chewiness and oily mouthcoat and lower residual loose particles than BR meat. TNC meat also provided more intense chicken flavors. This study clearly demonstrates that descriptive sensory analysis provides more detailed and more objectively information about the sensory attributes of meats from various chicken breeds. Additionally, sensory textural attributes vary between BR and TNC meat, and are highly correlated to the shear force value and collagen content which influence meat eating qualities greatly. The poultry industry and scientists should be able to recognize the sensory characteristics of different chicken meats more clearly. Accordingly, based on the meat's unique sensory and physicochemical characteristics, future work might address how meat from various breeds could best satisfy consumer needs using various cooking methods.

분진제거를 위한 활성탄 전극판의 제조 (Preparation of Electrode Coated with Activated Carbon for Dust Removal)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 알루미늄판에 활성탄을 얇게 박판으로 코팅하여 분진제거를 위한 활성탄 전극을 제조함에 있다. 전극을 제조하기위하여 알루미늄판에 활성탄을 부착시키기 위한 적정 결합제 선정 그리고 결합제 사용에 따른 활성탄 세공의 막힘방지 그리고 제조된 제극의 분진제거능력 등을 알아보는 연구를 수행하였다. 알루미늄판에 활성탄 부착을 위한 결합제로는 비닐계의 PVA (polyvinyl acetate)가 적정하였고, 결합제 사용에 따른 활성탄 세공의 막힘을 방지하기 위해서는 우선 먼저 활성탄 세공에 결합제의 용매제를 충진하고 나중에 결합제와 활성탄을 혼합 후 고온에서 휘발시키는 방법이 적정하였다. 그리고 활성탄이 코팅된 전극판은 알루미늄 전극판보다 약 두배의 분진부착능력을 보여주었다.

자동분류기반 성격 유형별 도서추천시스템 개발을 위한 실험적 연구 (A Experimental Study on the Development of a Book Recommendation System Using Automatic Classification, Based on the Personality Type)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 개인별 성향이나 성격 유형에 따라 선호하는 도서에 차이가 있음을 전제로, 어린이 청소년을 위한 추천도서의 책소개 정보를 활용하여 개인별 성격유형에 적합한 도서를 합리적으로 추천할 수 있는 서평 자동분류시스템을 개발하는 것이다. 연구에서 사용한 데이터는 국립어린이청소년도서관에서 제공하는 501권의 유아 및 아동도서를 대상으로 하였다. 실험에 활용된 2가지 기계학습 모델(비선형 커널 및 선형 커널) 각각에 대해서 총 6가지의 색인어 가중치 계산 방법과 자질 선택 방법, 그리고 10가지의 자질 선정 임계치 조합으로 구성된 360개의 분류 모델들을 구성하고 각각의 성능을 측정하였다. 전체적으로는 선형 커널을 이용한 SVM 기반 학습 방법(LIBLINEAR)이 비선형 분류를 지원하는 LibSVM(RBF 커널) 모델보다 더 나은 성능을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 다만 성능 측정 결과는 뉴스 기사나 논문을 대상으로 한 문헌 분류 성능에 비해서 낮은 것으로 나타났으나, 합리적인 분류 기준이 존재하는 뉴스기사나 주제 분류에 비해서 성격 유형 기반 분류는 그 난이도가 높다는 것을 감안할 때, 초기 실험 결과로서의 의미는 있다.

SWMM 모형을 이용한 도시 유역의 유출 및 NPS 오염물 배출 모의 (A Simulation of the Runoff and the NPS Pollutants Discharge using SWMM Model)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 도시유역에 적합한 유량 및 수질 모형을 선택하고 그 모형을 임의의 대상유역에 적용하여 그 적합성을 판정하는 데 있다. 본 연구를 위하여 선택된 모형은 EPA의 SWMM 모형으로, 이 모형은 도시유역의 유량 및 수질, 특히 NPS(non-point source) 오염물의 배출의 모의에 적합한 모형이며, 실제 적용에 있어서는 지표면유출을 위해서는 Runoff Block을, 관거 추적을 위해서는 Transport Block을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 적용대상유역은 전형적인 도시유역인 서울시 동대문구 용두유수지 유역이며, 이 유역을 위한 기존의 4개의 연속유량 측정치와 2개의 연속수질 측정치를 가지고 모의를 수행하였다. 유량 및 수질, 특히 NPS 부하량의 검정을 첨두치, 첨두시간, 유출 및 배출 용적과 그들의 상대오차에 대하여 수행하였으며, 그 결과, SWMM 모형은 유출 및 NPS 오염물 배출 모두를 모의하는데 적합한 모형임이 밝혀졌다. 본 연구의 결과는 차후 도시유역의 유출과 NPS 오염물 배출간의 상관관계의 분석 및 그를 통한 유역의 오염물의 년, 월, 부하량의 산정을 통한 물질수지계산 방법의 연구에 바탕이 될 수 있을 것이다.

미치광이풀 모상근 배양에서 Tropane Alkaloids 생산성 증진을 위한 최적 생물학적 엘리시터 선발 (Selection of Optimal Biotic Elicitor on Tropane Alkaloid Production of Hairy Roots in Scopolia parviflora Nakai)

  • 미치광이풀의 모상근 뱌양에 의해 의학적으로 중요한 물질인 scopolamine과 hyoscyamine 생산을 증진시키기 위해 3종의 곰팡이와 1종의 효모 유래의 생물학적 elicitor를 supernatant와 homogenate의 형태로 처리하였다. Elicitor 중 Candida albicans는 supernatant와 homogenate 모두 scopolamine 생산성을 증가시켰다. Fusarium solani의 homogenate와 C. albicans의 supernatant 처리로 hyoscyamine 함량이 증가되었다. 그러나 나머지 fungus strain도 대조구에 비해 tropane alkaloids의 생산을 다소 증가시켰다. 본 연구에서는 C. albicans가 tropane alkaloids 생산에 적합한 elicitor임으로 구명되었다. 본 연구 결과는 미치광이풀 모상근 대량배양에 의한 tropane alklaoids 대량생산에 기여할 것이다.

Establishment and Selection of Indicator Materials for Cervi Parvum Cornu Pharmacopuncture

  • Background: Recently, Cervi Parvum Cornu pharmacopuncture has been widely used. But no studies on the indicator materials for Cervi Parvum Cornu pharmacopuncture have been conducted. The aim of this study was to select indicator materials that would aid in the uniform preparation of standardized Cervi Parvum Cornu pharmacopuncture. Methods: Three lots of Cervi Parvum Cornu pharmacopuncture were analysed. Each lot was prepared using the same methods and materials. Chondroitin sulfate, alanine, and leucine were selected as the indicator materials for Cervi Parvum Cornu. For standardization, chondroitin sulfate analysis was performed using the colorimetric method, while alanine and leucine were analyzed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Results: Analysis of the three lots of Cervi Parvum Cornu pharmacopuncture found chondroitin sulfate levels of $108.9{\pm}17.3ug/ml$, $118.8{\pm}5.0ug/ml$ and $112.3{\pm}11.9ug/ml$. Alanine levels were $44.9{\pm}2.8ug/ml$, $44.6{\pm}0.3ug/ml$, and $43.9{\pm}0.2ug/ml$. Leucine levels were $29.6{\pm}0.7ug/ml$, $29.0{\pm}0.1ug/ml$, and $29.4{\pm}0.1ug/ml$. Conclusion: These results suggest that chondroitin sulfate, alanine, and leucine may be useful for the standardization of Cervi Parvum Cornu pharmacopuncture.

50KW 터보제너레이터용 가스터빈 엔진의 설계점/ 탈설계/과도성능해석 (On/Off-Design/Transient Analysis of a 50KW Turbogenerator Gas Turbine Engine)

  • Present paper describes on/off design performance of a 50KW turbogenerator gas turbine engine for hybrid vehicle application. For optimum design point selection, relevant parameter study is carried out. The turbogenerator gas turbine engine for a hybrid vehicle is expected to be designed for maximum fuel economy, ultra low emissions, and very low cost. Compressor, combustor, turbine, and permanent-magnet generator will be mounted on a single high speed (82,000 rpm) shaft that will be supported on air bearings. As the generator is built into the shaft, gearbox and other moving parts become unnecessary and thus will increase the system's reliability and reduce the manufacturing cost. The engine has a radial compressor and turbine with design point pressure ratio of 4.0. This pressure ratio was set based on calculation of specific fuel consumption and specific power variation with pressure ratio. For the given turbine inlet temperature, a rather conservative value of $1100^\circK$ was selected. Designed mass flow rate was 0.5 kg/sec. Parametric study of the cycle indicates that specific work and efficiency increase at a given pressure ratio and turbine inlet temperature. Off design analysis shows that the gas turbine system reaches self operating condition at N/$N_{DP}$ = 0.53. Bleeding air for turbine stator cooling is omitted considering low TIT and for a simple geometric structure. Various engine performance simulations including, ambient temperature influence, surging at part load condition. Transient analysis were performed to secure the optimum engine operating characteristics. Surge margin throughout the performance analysis were maintained to be over 80% approximately. Validation of present results are yet to be seen as the performance tests are scheduled by the end of 1998 for comparison.

한국전통음식과 패스트푸드에 대한 안산지역 초등 고학년 학생의 인식 및 이용실태 (The Perception and Utilization of Korean Traditional Food and Fast Food of Elementary School Children in Ansan Area)

  • This study was conducted to provide basic data for desirable food culture by surveying the perception and utilization of Korean traditional food and fast-food from 6th grade elementary school students in the Ansan region. According to the survey, elementary school students have insufficient perception about Korean traditional food but they understand fast-food relatively well. The key factor for their concern in Korean traditional food was the mass media, while the variety of tastes and quickness were key factors of fast-food. Among the respondents, 76.0% chose Korean traditional food as more nutritious than fast-food. From the investigation of their diet situation, daily meals came out as Korean traditional food, while fast-food covered snacks and nighttime meals. Normally, just following their parents' selection was the biggest reason for going to Korean traditional food restaurants. They chose fast-food restaurants because the price is proper and they can use that place for their conversation. Among Korean traditional foods, their favorite was "Gal-bi-zim" (beef ribs stew), and among fast-food, they liked hamburger and pizza. Over 90% of male and female students ate fast-food within 30 minutes, which was less than Korean traditional food. Generally, Korean traditional food was relatively more expensive than fast food. Respondents usually went to Korean traditional food restaurants with their parents and family members, whereas they went to fast food restaurants mostly with their friends. Positive factors of Korean traditional food, in order of satisfaction, were taste, hygiene, price, and quickness, while those of fast-food, in the same order, weretaste, price, quickness, and hygiene.
