C language is frequently used to develop application and system programs. However, programs using C language are vulnerable to buffer overflow attacks. To prevent buffer overflow, programmers have to check boundaries of buffer areas when they develop programs. But vulnerable programs frequently result from improper programming habits and mistakes of programmers. Existing researches for preventing buffer overflow attacks only inform programmers of warnings about vulnerabilities and not remove vulnerabilities in advance so that the programs still include vulnerabilities. In this paper, we propose a function translator which prevents creating programs including buffer overflow vulnerabilities. To prevent creating binary from source including vulnerabilities, the proposed translator searches vulnerable functions which cause buffer overflows, and converts them into secure functions. Accordingly, developing vulnerable programs by programmers which lack in knowledge on security can be prevented.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the healthy family education, healthy family counseling, a healthy family culture, and healthy families integrated programs for single parent families in family support centers, The data collected came from 59 family support centers located in Seoul and Kyunggi-Do, Korea. Subjects included both single parents and their children. The children were of elementary school age. The types of programs were education, counseling, culture, and integrated program. Education programs were process separately for the parents and for the children. Counseling programs were mostly group-type program that aimed at improving the parent-children relationship. The contents included sections on anger management, reducing stress, enriching self-esteem. The culture programs involved experiences, camps that included cooking, watching movies, similar activities. Integrated programs involved respite support, rearing support, mentor-mentee partnerships, and the formation of self-help groups.
To find out more efficient ways of implementing health promotion programs and to determine the factors affecting the results of various interventions, we reviewed 73 articles un the effectiveness of health promotion programs. These include the papers on the smoking, alcohol, drug abuse, nutrition(obesity) and stress management etc. Specific interventions evaluated in this review are education based on the lecture or video shows, health-related event activities, modifications of policy or the environment, health risk appraisal etc. By using KIHASA Line of Korea Institute of Health and Social Affairs, National Congress Library Database MEDLINE, we identified 201 articles published from 1980 to Jun. 1979 and finally selected 73 papers which contain the implementation process, and result of each program. The factors used in the analysis of the programs are (1) characteristics of participants (2) interventions evaluated (3) research design (4) length of programs and evacuation point (7) outcome indices (6) effect of program evaluated by each author. The study results did not prove positive effect of education based on lectures or video shows etc. Rather, it was suggested that lecture-based education has negative effect on the result. Event activity such as contest or health festivals has positive effect, and policy change or environmental change is closely related to the event activity. Also, the result shows that the overall effect of programs fur the students is less than that of the programs for the others. The programs conducted over, 1-year are mere likely to have positive outcomes than shorter ones. And, the outcomes of the programs with controlled research design such as experimental or quasi-experimental study tend to be evaluated inferiorly to those with non-experimental design.
Multicultural Family Support Centers (MFSC) have provided five program areas including family, gender equality, human rights, social integration, and counseling since 2015. It is important to examine the MFSC staff's perceptions of the family programs and program needs for multicultural families to improve the effectiveness of these programs. In this study, we aim to explore the staff's perceptions of the family programs and to assess multicultural family program needs based on the family life cycle. A total of 130 MFSC staff were recruited through 128 MFSCs across Korea. Descriptive statistics were conducted for data analysis. Our findings revealed that MFSC staff have increasingly recognized that their target audiences are not only marriage immigrants and their families but also foreign workers' families and families from North Korea. In addition, the MFSC staff identified the importance of family programs instead of only programs for individual family members and multicultural families' different program needs based on their family life cycle. Contrary to the positive perception of the family programs, they described challenges of the family programs including a shortage of funds, difficulty recruiting family member combinations (e.g., couples, parent-child) for family programs, a lack of a program manual, and a heavy workload. This study provides insights into the family programs including their development and delivery.
With a sample of 147 Korean small and medium size companies, this study examined the relationships among degree of information orientation, corporate culture, degree of information management implementation and selected business performances in the process of implementing IMS improvement programs, such as IMS(Information Management System). Information orientation is defined as company-wide understanding and implementation of the underlying philosophy, principles, approached, and tools of information improvement programs. It is assumed that successful implementation of information improvement programs requires a information-oriented mind-set of the employees. The key elements of information orientation include continious improvement structured processes, organixation-wide participation and customer-focused spirit. Culture id defined as the value and beliefs of em organization that shape its behavior. It is also assumed that successful implementation of information improvement programs require strong support from s corporate culture that emphasizes cintinious improvement. Adopting the competing values model of Quinn and McGrath(1985), corporate culture is classified into 'flexible' versus 'controlled culture' and 'outer-directed' versus 'inner-directed culture'. Fitness was defined through the relationship between levels of information oriented and types of corporate culture. The results were as follows. First, it was found that when a company with high information orientation promoted information innovation programs, such as IMS, it reported higher degree of information management implementation and improvement in business performances. Second, the results showed the importance of 'flexible culture' and 'outer-directed culture' in performing information, innovation. Regarding the types of corporate culture, the analysis found that developmental culture, rational culture and group culture were effective. Third, companies with high information oriented and flexible culture or companies with high information orientation and outer-directed culture reported the highest implementation in Information management activities. Fourth, the results showed that the level of information management implementation had a mediating effect on the relationship between information orientation and business performance. It was also found that enhanced non-financial performance led to the improvement of financial performance. This study attempted to exaime the factor that lead information management program to success. In order to reach success, first, it is suggested that companies have positive mind set toward continious information improvement. Secondly, it is recommended that a flexible and outer-directed culture appropriate for continious information improvement is cultivated.
The comprehensive rural village development projects (CRVDP) have been carried out as the core one of the rural development schemes in Korea since 2004. CRVDP included the various rural experience programs to increase rural income and in order to promote rural community development in the project area. This study analyzed the operating management conditions, types and characteristics of the rural experience programs targeting the 168 CRVDPs have been completed so that the recommendations and lessons which were found the usefulness, challenges and improvements to the CRVDP can be provided to be better the same kinds of rural development projects. We identified the relationships between performances such as increasing village income and utilization of rural amenity resources to the CRVDP and operational management types of the rural experience programs as well. Employing principle component analysis and cluster analysis technique, this study found 5 clusters of rural experience programs among 168 CRVDPs. The results of analysis of variance indicated that there were significant the mean differences between clusters such as the utilization of rural amenity resources(0.01), income of rural experience programs(0.1). According to the result of the Chi-squire test, there was very significant differences between internet homepage operation and clusters(0.01). Finally, the analysis of covariance about the income of rural experience programs showed that there were significant the mean differences between clusters(0.05).
Forestry education in vocational high schools is one of the fundamental keys for achieving sustainable forest management. However, support systems for forestry education have not been well developed in Japan. Forest research institutes, which have accumulated relevant information, should have sufficient ability to develop new educational programs in this field. This study examined the possibility of support systems for forestry technical education by a research institute. Educational programs for vocational high schools were developed, and the programs were examined for their practical applications through a workshop for these teachers. We set the following five requirements for the programs: They should 1) incorporate new contents related to sustainable forest management, 2) be based on forestry education textbooks, 3) meet recent demands of the schools and society, 4) allow participants to learn through actual practice and experience, and 5) utilize readily available teaching materials. With these criteria, we developed the following two educational programs: (a) Forest management program to teach advanced techniques, (b) A timber-program to teach about biomass resources. The workshop was held on July $28^{th}$, 2007 with ten teachers attending. The programs were very interesting, who gave them high average evaluation of 4.6 on a scale of 1 to 5. Only a few issues need to be resolved before classroom instruction can begin, such as making wood structure easier to understanding for some teachers, and obtaining base maps of school forests. In conclusion, forest research institutes can effectively support forestry education by providing and implementing programs based on scientific information.
This study aims to make a comparison of the attitudes between residents, officials and experts towards the rural landscape management polices. It is also designed to suggest the improvements to the rural landscape management policies. This study showed that there were differences in awareness of the rural landscape management polices depending on stakeholder who are residents, officials and experts and experienced groups of rural landscape projects. The directions of improvement of rural landscape policies are as follows: First, it's necessary that the various rural landscape management polices is made of considering the differences on the interest group's recognition. Second, the related rural landscape improvement programs should be implemented based on those plan. Third, the various programs which are to lead voluntary residents participation and to strengthen participant's capabilities have to be arranged to manage the rural landscape effectively.
This study purports to develop a quality assessment tool for the process of health promotion programs at public health centers(PHC). The draft of the assessment tool developed by the literature was distributed to 242 staffs who were in charge of the health promotion programs at PHCs for evaluating the feasibility of the tool on September and October 2002. The major results of the study were as follows; The quality assessment tool developed in the study consisted of four domains: strategic planning, program management, monitoring and evaluation, and resources and information. The strategic planning dealt with the function of the planning staff and committees, community data analysis, the feasibility of the program, and the approach methods for attaining the goal of the program. The program management included the items on the qualification and power of the program staff. The monitoring and evaluation included the items on the reporting and communication among program units, and feed back after monitoring. Finally, the resources and information dealt with community networking, clients' response, and consulting activity of the staff. The validity of the tools was tested and partly supported by both formative and criterion-related methods. The assessment tools developed in this study could be used by health promotion workers in the self-evaluation of the program quality. In conclusion, the quality assessment tool developed in the study will be a good safeguard for assuring the quality of the process of health promotion programs.
Over the last few years Total Quality Management (TQM) programs have hem widely adapted by Korean manufacturing firms to improve their productivity, competitive edge and product quality levels. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the level of importance placed on four key TQM factors (customer satisfaction, strong management leadership, continuous improvement, imployee involvement and participation) used during the implementation of korean manufacturing TQM programs and to assess the effectiveness of those key factors in improving the performance of the firms. A Questionaire was developed and sent to senior managers in manufacturing organizations throughout korea. This survey asked qustions regarding 1) the firm's business environment and TQM program development 2) subcomponents of the key factors and 3) the effectiveness of the TQM program at improving the performance of the organization. The survey data were analyzed to determine the degree of correlation between each of the factors and the effectiveness of the TQM programs. This study demonstrated that the TQM programs were instrumental at improving the performance of the firms studied, and that the improvement was positively correlated with the length of time that the program had been implemented and the planned duration of the TQM program implementation. It was found that the person-oriented elements of management leadership and employee involvement were positively correlated and predictive of the success of the TQM Program, while the process-oriented components of customer satisfaction and employee involvement were not useful predictors of the effectiveness of the TQM program implementation.
