  • The purpose of this study was to develop an educational app that informs parents of elementary students with correct information on pesticide residue based on their awareness and information needs on pesticide residue. A survey was conducted from 918 parents living in 8 different districts of Korea. The results of the survey indicated that a majority of parents felt uncomfortable with pesticide residue and wanted to have the proper information regarding it. Based on the above results, an app named 'Perfect Conquest of Pesticide Residue' consisting of 5 main menus of 'Pesticide residue, Is it safe?', 'Safe management of pesticide residue', 'Perfect removal of pesticide residue on fruits and vegetables through washing', 'Shopping without anxiety', 'Playground' and their own sub-menus was developed. When the app was applied to 30 parents using smart phones, a majority of them were satisfied with the contents of detailed information and fun activities. Therefore, this app could be utilized as an effective educational tool for the parents of elementary students by allowing them to have proper awareness on pesticide residue. Furthermore, more apps could be developed on other food risk factors to promote safe dietary life.

  • Purpose: While clinical practice is crucial for nursing students to acquire the skills needed to provide professional, high-quality nursing care, further studies on improving undergraduate nursing programs are needed to provide a supportive clinical learning environment for student nurses. This study aimed to understand nursing students' clinical experiences in newborn nurseries and neonatal intensive care units and to provide basic data for the establishment of strategies to promote effective clinical education. Methods: Interviews were held with 15 nursing students at J University who had clinical practice experience in the newborn nursery and neonatal intensive care unit. The collected data were analyzed using the phenomenological analysis method developed by Colaizzi (1978). Results: The nursing students' experiences were grouped into four categories: "expectations for and anxiety about clinical practice", "acquisition of a wide range of knowledge regarding neonatal nursing", "challenges faced in clinical practice", and "experiencing interpersonal changes". Conclusion: The current neonatal practice nursing education system provides students with positive learning experiences. However, the lack of practice opportunities, insufficient instruction, and the theory-practice gap were identified as major issues hindering students' learning needs. These study results are expected to provide basic data for curriculum development to improve undergraduate nursing education.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify variables influencing task performance of wound ostomy continence nurses (WOCN). Methods: Data were collected from 80 WOCN in Korea from September to October 2011 using a self-reported questionnaire. Variables consisted of task performance, empowerment, professional autonomy, job satisfaction and job-related variables. Data were analyzed by frequencies, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: Professional autonomy was a major predictor of task performance of WOCN (F=37.37, p=<.001). Empowerment(F=33.10, p=.001) and completion of the professional education course for wound ostomy continence nursing WOCN(F=7.46, p=.008) were the other significant predictors of task performance. The regression model explained 45.3% of task performance. Conclusion: Professional autonomy, empowerment and completion of the professional education course contribute to task performance of WOCN. These findings have important implications for organizations hoping to achieve the maximum potential of WOCN's professional role. Therefore, strategies for reinforcement of professional autonomy, empowerment, and completion of professional education course are necessary for WOCN working in South Korea.

The purpose of this study is to propose a fashion work experience program that combines digital technology and practical experience. The research methods and procedures were as follows: fashion items and wearable devices were selected, the LED smart bag program was developed, and it was executed. A total of 123 students participated in the program, and a satisfaction survey was conducted after observation and oral evaluation. All of the participants completed the LED smart bag processes of design ideation, material selection, production, and styling using an eco-bag (one of the fashion items and as an LED wearable device). As a result of the participants' satisfaction (on a 5-point scale), most items showed a high level of satisfaction of 4.39 points or more. The smart bag program was evaluated to increase interest based on the time allotted and the students' level and to bolster their understanding of, and interest in, the fashion major. Therefore, this study is expected to be baseline to explore diversification of the fashion major work experience program, in order to create interest in the fashion major based on creative convergence competency.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze longitudinal trends of students' mathematical affective domain by use of the data mining method. For this purpose, we used the Korea education longitudinal study(KELS 2005) which was the survey data for students' achievement test, affective domain test, teachers' evaluation, and parents' evaluation from $7^{th}$ grader in the year of 2005 to $11^{th}$ grader in the year of 2010. Subjects of this study is a total of 5040 students who answered to the mathematical affective domain survey in KELS 2005. The result findings are as follows. First, students' affective domain had changed negatively as they went up to higher grade. Second, if students' affective domain had built at a certain level in $7^{th}$ grade, the level did not change easily until $11^{th}$ grade. Third, major factors of students' affective domain were shown to be self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, efforts and patient, and time management.

Third, high school teachers have recognized that there is a distance between high school education activities and the Admission Officer System. Eliciting sympathy from the high school teachers for the Admission Officer System is a very important task. Negative perceptions of high school teachers on the Admission Officer System is still remained. The cooperation between leading universities and high schools would help the Admission Officer System work with its original purpose or goal.

  • The development of science and technology not only improved the quality of life of human being, but also brought about environmental problems. Consequently, consensus has been established that early environmental education for youngsters is critical for the preservation of clean environment. A conventional way of teaching has not been very effective for changing their attitude and behavior regarding environmental problems. STS program, which has been one of the major trend in science education, intends to teach science through everyday experience rather than knowledge. This study purports to examine the effectiveness of STS program on environmental problems compared to conventional teaching method. Six week program was developed and applied to subchapter 'Environmental Pollutions & Our Lives' of 3rd grade middle school science text book. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. STS program was significantly effective in changing students' attitude(p<.001). It was effective not only changing their thinking but also changing their behavior. 2. There was no difference between the STS program and conventional teaching method in improving students' knowledge(p>.05). 3. The correlation between the level of knowledge achievement and the attitude on environment was very low(r=.0564,p>.05).
