Cyclosophoraoses are a class of unbranced cyclic-(1longrightarrow2)-${\beta}$-D-glucans found in the Rhizobium species. Their unique cyclic structures and high solubility make them potent for inclusion complexation as a host for an insoluble guest molecule. A family of neutral cyclosophoraoses (DP 17-27) isolated from Rhizobium meliloti 2011 was used as a host for inclusion complexation with an insoluble guest drug, indomethacin. A high performance liquid chromatographic analysis indicated that the inclusion complexation of cyclosophoraoses greatly ehanced the solubility of indomethacin compared with ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin. The estimated value of the association constant of the complex in water for $\beta$-cyclodextrin and cyclosophoraoses was $523M^{-1} and 17,570M^{-1}$, respectively. NMR spectroscopy showed that the inclusion complex was characterized by the interaction of the indole ring moiety of indomethacin with the cavity of cyclosophoraoses.
The purpose of this study was to contribute to planning and developing various new apartment unit plans of the future through examining the differences on the spatial behavioral patterns and the post-occupancy evaluation between DK-front type and DK-rear type. 245 households which were included 79 DK-front types and 166 DK-rear types, were collected and analyzed at Masan and Gimhae cities in Kyungnam area. The result is as follows: 1) The analysis of the spatial behavioral patterns revealed that Anbang was the room for the couple independent from guests and children. Living room was the family's room for every activity, used more frequently DK-front types than DK-rear types. The family lift cycles of households, the visual unification between Living room and DK, the closed figures of DK in DK-front types have been influenced for the activities of Living room. 2) In the post-occupancy evaluation, DK-front types were positive in the lighting of DK area and its connection with Living room, while negative in the proximity from entrance to DK, cooking convenience, and the proximity between rooms. It was explained clearly through the reasons of the rejection of DK-front types from now.
This paper is to determine the clothing and footwear of urban household consumption expenditures and an analysis of historical data from relevant literature. Particularly, time-series and cross sectional analysis techniques are adopted in analysing the patterns of clothing and footwear consumption expenditures of urban households. Finally, this paper estimates consumption expenditures in the future by comparing these revealed data with the Korea and Japan. Annual Report on the family Income and Expenditure Survey and M.R.A. in S.P.S.S. were used. The results can be summarized as follows: 1. The proportion of the clothing and footwear expenditure has decreased with the increase of income in urban household during 1976-1987. 2.1) Household consumption function by Income group, the Lower group is higher than the other group. 2) Household consumption function by Occupation of household head. Income elasticity estimation in administrative managerial workers is higher than the other group. 3) Household consumption function by Family size. Income elasticity estimation in 6 Persons is higher than the other group. But 4 Persons is higher in 1986. 4) Household consumption function by Age of household head. Income elasticity estimation in 50 Years and over is higher than the other group. 3. Comparison of characteristics of clothing and footwear consumption expenditures in Korea and Japan were M.R.A. Generally, the priority correlation order for Korea is Outwear, Sweaters and Shirt, Other clothing. For Japan, the order is Sweaters and Shirts, Underwear, Services.
As the provision of National Rental Housing has led the consciousness on rental housing changed, it becomes more necessary to improve the quality of rental housing. The purpose of this study is to analyze the inner space use of a unit and residents' consciousness on the results of surveying the residents in order to construct rental housing which provides comfort residental environment for the residents. Data was collected through questionnaire surveys(459 residents) from 5 estates including 3 estates of National Rental Housing and 2 estates of Public Rental Housing, which is $36m^{2}\;and\;45m^{2}$ of net area of a unit, for the actual use conditions and their requirements on the inner space of a unit. The results are as follows ; 1) The rental housing differentiated according to the needs from the residents' characteristics should be developed. 2) The main demand household for rental housing is established to that of 4 families including a 40s year-old couple and that of 3 or 4 families including a 30s year-old couple, and a double income family. But the type of household becomes more diverse than before. 3) It is necessary to plan the living room for the Multi-functional inner space emphasizing commom space 4) The various and efficient storage space and system for the residents' demands.
The convergence of IT technology and fashion is a marked trend in recent years induding sportswear, m-dress (mobile phone dress), and wearable computing. Despite continued research and record high development in the field, however, there still are unsettled issues like power supply, fit, washability and mobility when it comes to commercializing technological fashion product. In this context, this thesis is to propose feasible technology effectively applied to a portable bag. The first case is a bag designed to maximize sensitivity for a family who enjoys leisure activities often. The second one is a limited editionHaute Couture style bag targeting single women in their 20s and 30s. These two case studies are an attempt to demonstrate the possibility of applying wearable technology to a product design.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the We Start center visiting intervention program on the positive changes in the developmental areas and literacy interests of young children from low-income families. The subjects were 195 young children (109 in the experimental group, M=71.7 months; 86 in the control group, M=73.3 months) living in We Start areas (Ansan, Gwangmyeong, and Suwon cities) of Gyeonggi-do. The We Start center visiting intervention programs were conducted for 30-34 weeks in each city, and pre-tests and post-tests were conducted before and after the intervention programs. The instruments used were the developmental checklist and the literacy interests test The developmental checklist consisted of 7 domains (personality & sociality; language, reading, & writing; scientific thinking; mathematical thinking; arts; social learning; and physical development). The literacy interests test consisted of 2 factors (interest in literacy and interaction during activity). The scores on the developmental checklist showed positive changes in several domains (personality & social development; language, reading, & writing ability; scientific thinking; and social learning), but not in mathematical thinking, arts, and physical development. Second, the results of the literacy interests test showed positive effects on interaction during activity and the total score. In conclusion, the We Start center visiting program for young children from low-income families is an effective early intervention program to end the intergenerational transference of poverty in Korea.
Cytosine arabinoside(AraC) inhibits DNA synthesis and ${\beta}$-DNA polymerase, an enzyme involved in DNA repair. This, a potent antimitotic agent, is clinically used as an anticancer drug with side effect of severe neurotoxicity. Earlier reports suggested that inhibition of neuronal survival by AraC in sympathetic neuron may be due to the inhibition of a 2'-deoxycytidine-dependent process that is independent of DNA synthesis or repair and AraC induced a signal that is triggers a cascade of new mRNA and protein synthesis, leading to apoptotic cell death in cultured cerebellar granule cells. The present study would suggest whether caspase family(ICE/CED-3-like protease) involved in AraC-induced apoptosis pathway of PC12 cells. It was observed that treatment of PC12 cells with AraC led to decrease of viability by MTT assay and morphology changes, which did not suggest that AraC induced apoptosis in PC12 cells. The mRNA of caspase-1/caspase-3 were expressed in PC12 cells constitutively, and AraC did not activate caspase family. These results suggest that caspase-1/caspase-3 may not be required for AraC-induced cell death pathway in PC12 cells.

This paper deals with the reliability analysis of a complex system, which consists of two subsystems A and B connected in series. Subsystem A has only one unit and B has two units $B_1$ and $B_2$. Marked process has been applied to model the complex system. Present reliability model incorporated two repairmen: supervisor and novice to repair the failed units. Supervisor is always there and the novice remains in vacation and is called for repair as per demand. The repair rates for supervisor and novice follow general and exponential distributions respectively and the failure time for both the subsystems follows exponential distribution. The model is analyzed under "Head of line repair discipline". By employing supplementary variable technique, Laplace transformation and Gumbel-Hougaard family of copula various transition state probabilities, reliability, availability and cost analysis have been obtained along with the steady state behaviour of the system. At the end some special cases of the system have been taken.
A kinetic profile of the catalytic domain of stromelysin-1 (SCD) using the fluorescent peptide substrate has been determined by the stopped-flow technique. The pH profile has a pH optimum of about 5.5 with an extended shoulder above pH 7. Three pKa values, 5.0, 5.7, and 9.8 are found for the free enzyme state and two pH independent Kcat/Km values of 4.1$\times$104 M-1 s-1 and 1.4$\times$104 M-1 s-1 at low and high pH, respectively. The profile is quite different in shape with other MMP family which has been reported, having broad pH optimum with two pKa values. The substrate specificity of SCD towards fluorescent heptapeptide substrates has been also examined by thin layer chromatography. The cleavage sites of the substrates have been identified using reverse-phase HPLC method.SCD cleaves Dns-PLA↓L↓WAR and Dns-PLA↓L↓FAR at two positions. However, the Dns-PLA↓LRAR, Dns-PLE↓LFAR, adn Dns-PLSar↓LFAR are cleaved exclusively at one bond. The double cleavages of Dns-PLALWAR and Dns-PLALFAR by SCD are in marked contrast to the close structurally related matrilysin. A notable feature of SCD catalysis agrees with the structural data that the S1' pocket of SCD is deeper than that of matriysin. The differences observed between SCD and matrilysin may form the basis of understanding the structural relationships and substrate specificities of the MMP family in vivo.
FGFR3 is a member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor family which interacts with fibroblast growth factors, setting in motion a cascade of downstream signals, ultimately influencing mitogenesis and differentiation. This particular family member binds acidic and basic fibroblast growth hormone and plays a role in bone development and maintenance. Accumulated evidence suggests that aberrant regulation of FGFR3 and genetic alterations are implicated in the development and progression of various cancers. Despite a high incidence of FGFR3 over-expression, no such investigation has been performed in hepatocellular carcinoma. Thus, we investigated genetic alterations of the FGFR3 gene in 73 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma by single-strand conformational polymorphism (SSCP) and sequencing. One silent mutation (A369A) was found in the extracellular domain of FGFR3, and one genetic alteration in the immunoglobulin-like III domain of FGFR3 appeared to be polymorphism. Taken together, we concluded that over-expression of FGFR3 in hepatocellular carcinoma is not associated with genetic alterations of FGFR3 gene, and we suggest that there could be another underlying mechanism of aberrant FGFR3 expression in hepatocellular carcinoma.
