Design and Fabrication of a Seven Segment Decoder/Driver with PMOS Technology (PMOS 집적회로 제작기법을 사용한 Seven Segment Decoder/Driver의 설계와 제작)

  • A medium scale integrated circuit, BCD to seven segment decoder/driver is designed and fabricated by employing P-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. The device configuration is specifically designed for a common cathode seven segment LED display unit. The decoder logic is composed of two serially connected read-only-memory matrices and the LED drivers are implemented with wide channel FET's. The fabricated integrated circuit performed successfully with a supply voltage between -7 Volt and -26 Volt and the non-uniformity of the LED segment current is about 10%.

Effect of Subthreshold Slope on the Voltage Gain of Enhancement Mode Thin Film Transistors Fabricated Using Amorphous SiInZnO

  • High-performance full swing logic inverters were fabricated using amorphous 1 wt% Si doped indium-zinc-oxide (a-SIZO) thin films with different channel layer thicknesses. In the inverter configuration, the threshold voltage was adjusted by varying the thickness of the channel layer. The depletion mode (D-mode) device used a TFT with a channel layer thickness of 60 nm as it exhibited the most negative threshold voltage (-1.67 V). Inverters using enhancement mode (E-mode) devices were fabricated using TFTs with channel layer thicknesses of 20 or 40 nm with excellent subthreshold slope (S.S). Both the inverters exhibited high voltage gain values of 30.74 and 28.56, respectively at $V_{DD}=15V$. It was confirmed that the voltage gain can be improved by increasing the S.S value.

  • This paper presents a software design simulation method for controlling multiple mechanism carrier system (MMCS), which is mainly used in a wrapping machine or a case packing machine. This method uses a mechanical tool-work interactive model proposed in this paper, in order to represent the interactive behaviors between some tools and a work driven by their tools, in which low effect states of a work are defined. Based on this method, a 3-D simulation system has been built. It consists of shape modeling of each device, behavior definitions of tools, and control logic using if-then expression. By applying it to a ase packing machine having about 30 mechanical devices and 100 inputs/outputs for control, the effectiveness of this method has been shown in general verification of control logic specification in an early software design phase and the possibility of smooth communication tool between mechanical and software designers.

The Methodology of Systematic Global Calibration for Process Simulator

  • This paper proposes a novel methodology of systematic global calibration and validates its accuracy and efficiency with application to memory and logic devices. With 175 SIMS profiles which cover the range of conditions of implant and diffusion processes in the fabrication lines, the dominant diffusion phenomenon in each process temperature region has been determined. Using the dual-pearson implant model and fully-coupled diffusion model, the calibration was performed systematically. We applied the globally calibrated process simulator parameters to memory and logic devices to predict the optimum process conditions for target device characteristics.

  • Reduction of a ship's rolling is the most important performance requirement for improving the safety of the crew on board and preventing damage to cargos as well as improving the comfort of the ride. A mass driving anti-.oiling system (MD-ARS) might be one candidate of several systems against the ship's rolling. As the movable range of the mass on the ship is finite, the control system must include restriction on the mass position to protect the device and the ship. This restriction usually causes windup phenomenon and control performance is deteriorated seriously. We adopt anti-windup technique to improve the control performance and demonstrate its efficiency by simulation.

The Study for Transient Enhanced Diffusion of Indium and Its Application to μm Logic Devices

  • We developed a new systematic calibration procedure which was applied to the calibration of the diffusivity, segregation and TED model of the indium impurity. The TED of the indium impurity has been studied using 4 different groups of experimental conditions. Although the indium is susceptible to the TED, the RTA is effective to suppress the TED effect and maintain a steep retrograde profile. Like the boron, the indium shows significant oxidationenhanced diffusion in silicon and has segregation coefficients at the $Si/SiO_2$ interface much less than 1. In contrast, however, the segregation coefficient of indium decreases as the temperature increases. The accuracy of the proposed technique is validated by SIMS data and $0.13 {\mu}m$ device characteristics such as $V_{th}$ and $Id_{sat}$ with errors less than $5 \%$ between simulation and experiment.

  • The objective of this paper is to examine a construction method and verify PLC logic using the logical modeling and simulation of a virtual plant has complex manufacturing system and the domain of application is car body assembly line of automotive industrial operated by PLC Program. The proposed virtual plant model for the analysis of the construction method consists of three types of components which are virtual device, intermediary transfer and controller is modeled by logical model but it the case of the verification of PLC program, HMI and PLC logic in the field substitute for the controller. The implementation of the proposed virtual plant model is conducted PLC Studio which is an object-oriented modeling language based on logical model. As a result, proposed methods enable 3D graphics is designed in the analysis step to use for verification of PLC program without special efforts.

ONO Ruptures Caused by ONO Implantation in a SONOS Non-Volatile Memory Device

  • The oxide-nitride-oxide (ONO) deposition process was added to the beginning of a 0.25 ${\mu}m$ embedded polysiliconoxide-nitride-oxide-silicon (SONOS) process before all of the logic well implantation processes in order to maintain the characteristics of basic CMOS(complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) logic technology. The system subsequently suffered severe ONO rupture failure. The damage was caused by the ONO implantation and was responsible for the ONO rupture failure in the embedded SONOS process. Furthermore, based on the experimental results as well as an implanted ion's energy loss model, processes primarily producing permanent displacement damages responsible for the ONO rupture failure were investigated for the embedded SONOS process.

  • In this paper, we propose the hardware architecture of a display converter which is consisted of four functional blocks. The four functional blocks consists of a set of color space converter, de-interacer, video display scaler, and gamma corrector. After the proposed architecture was implemented into hardware, we verified that it operated exactly. The designed hardware has 7,629 LUT and 6,800 Logic Register in Stratix device of Altera and operates in 270 MHz clock frequency.

  • Auto Steering System is the device for course keeping or course altering to ship's steering system. The Purpose of automatic steering system is to keep the ship's course stable with the minimum course and rudder angle. Recently, modern control theories are being used widely in analyzing and designing the ship system. Though P.D type auto pilots are widely used in ships, the stability and the adjusting methods are not clarified. In this paper the authors proposed auto steering system with Fuzzy Logic Controller. In the fuzzy control the things that the actual operators of a steering wheel has acquired through their experience can be logically described by the Lingustic Control Rule. The characteristic of the control system were investigated through the computer simulation results. it was found that the fuzzy logic control was more efficient than the conventional system.
