  • This paper deals with a general contraction. Two fixed-point theorems for a limit weak-compatible pair of a multi-valued map and a self map on a D-metric space have been established. These results improve significantly, the main results of Dhage, Jennifer and Kang [5] by reducing its assumption and generalizing its contraction simultaneously. At the same time some results of Singh, Jain and Jain [12] are generalized from a self map to a pair of a set-valued and a self map. Theorems of Veerapandi and Rao [16] get generalized and improved by these results. All the results of this paper are new.

  • The possibility of a remote on-line determination of the maximum load rates that are basically set at generation plants is investigated in automatic generation control (AGC) system. Energy management system (EMS) generates a test input to a remote power plant to get the samples of the generator output. Then from the samples it can be attempted to determine an approximate value of the load rate limit set by the operator. It is shown in computer simulation that in actual power plants the limit can be approximately determined from the input-output characteristics of the plants for a unit-step input.

  • Developers of new finite elements or nonlinear solution techniques rely on discriminative benchmark tests drawn from the literature to assess the advantages and drawbacks of new formulations. Buckling benchmark tests provide a rigorous evaluation of finite elements applied to thin structures, and a complete and detailed set of reference results would therefore prove very useful in carrying out such evaluations. Results are usually presented in the form of load-deflection curves that developers must reconstruct by extracting the points, a procedure which is often tedious and inaccurate. Moreover the curves are usually given without accompanying information such as the calculation time or number of iterations it took for the model to converge, even though this type of data is equally important in practice. This paper presents ten different limit-point buckling benchmark tests, and provides for each one the reference load-deflection curve, all the points necessary to recreate the curve in tabulated form, analysis data such as calculation time, number of iterations and increments, and all of the inputs used to obtain these results.

  • Most path planning algorithms for a marine robot in the ocean environment have been developed without considering the robot's heading angle. As a result, the robot has a difficulty in following the path correctly. In this paper, we propose a limit-cycle circle set that applies to the $Theta^*$ algorithm. The minimum turning radius of a marine robot is calculated using a limit-cycle circle set, and circles of this radius is used to generate a configuration space of an occupancy grid map. After applying $Theta^*$ to this configuration space, the limit-cycle circle set is also applied to the start and end nodes to find the appropriate path with specified heading angles. The benefit of this algorithm is its fast computation time compared to other 3-D ($x,y,{\theta}$) path planning algorithms, along with the fact that it can be applied to the 3-D kinematic state of the robot. We simulate the proposed algorithm and compare it with 3-D $A^*$ and 3-D $A^*$ with post smoothing algorithms.

  • Limit analysis has been rendered versatile in many problems such as structural problems and metal forming problems. In metal forming analysis, a slip-line method and an upper bound method approach to limit solutions is considered as the most challenging areas. In the present work, a general algorithm for limit solutions of plastic flow is developed with the use of finite element limit analysis. The algorithm deals with a generalized Holder inequality, a duality theorem, and a combined smoothing and successive approximation in addition to a general procedure for finite element analysis. The algorithm is robust such that from any initial trial solution, the first iteration falls into a convex set which contains the exact solution(s) of the problem. The idea of the algorithm for limit solution is extended from rigid/perfectly-plastic materials to work-hardening materials by the nature of the limit formulation, which is also robust with numerically stable convergence and highly efficient computing time.

  • We studied closed set-valued Choquet integrals in two papers(1997, 2000) and convergence theorems under some sufficient conditions in two papers(2003), for examples : (i) convergence theorems for monotone convergent sequences of Choquet integrably bounded closed set-valued functions, (ii) covergence theorems for the upper limit and the lower limit of a sequence of Choquet integrably bounded closed set-valued functions. In this presentation, we consider fuzzy number-valued functions and define Choquet integrals of fuzzy number-valued functions. But these concepts of fuzzy number-valued Choquet inetgrals are all based on the corresponding results of interval-valued Choquet integrals. We also discuss their properties which are positively homogeneous and monotonicity of fuzzy number-valued Choquet integrals. Furthermore, we will prove convergence theorems for fuzzy number-valued Choquet integrals. They will be used in the following applications : (1) Subjectively probability and expectation utility without additivity associated with fuzzy events as in Choquet integrable fuzzy number-valued functions, (2) Capacity measure which are presented by comonotonically additive fuzzy number-valued functionals, and (3) Ambiguity measure related with fuzzy number-valued fuzzy inference.

  • A limit point p of a Mobius group acting on$ B^m$ is called a concentration point if for every sufficiently small connected open neighborhood of p, the set of translates contains a local basis for the topology of p. For the case of two generator Schottky groups acting on $B^2$, we give characterizations for several different kinds of limit points.

  • This paper is concerned with some properties of stable domains and limit functions. Using the relationship between cycles of periodic stable domains and orbits of critical points and using the Sullivan theorem [19], we prove that the value of a constant limit function in some stable domain for a rational function f of degree at least two lies in the closure of the set of critical orbits of f.
