This study approached the leisure with the step of life cycle, analyzing the process of leisure career and leisure development in individual life. The leisure life cycle leads the other related studies by examining the concepts of continuity, change, leisure socialization, and leisure career. It also analyzes the patterns and the structures of the use of life time, using '2004 Time Use Survey' from the Korea National Statistical Office. As a result, this study suggests new 3 steps of leisure life cycle: participating and expanding stages, selective and concentrating stage, and continuing and absorbed stage. These steps set up the goal of leisure program by the periods. They also can help setting the direction of leisure activities, and can be used as basic data that can make up the leisure activity program models step by step. Moreover, the development of model can be used as valuable information to draw up the plans that can prepare for aging society and demand the support of policy.

The purpose of this study is to ascertain the actual conditions of volunteering activities in respect to age-integrated leisure. This study is based on the 2010 Korea Leisure Life Survey. The participants in this study were 3015 people who reside in Korean cities, except for Jeju-do. Questionnaires from the 2010 Korea Leisure Life Survey were used for the final analysis. First, demographic characteristics such as age, academic career, income, and marital status had a positive correlation with the degree of volunteer participation. Second, there were differences in duration and field of activities according to age. Third, though most of the non-volunteer reasons were 'lack of resources', there were different reasons based on age. The aging of population is a social phenomenon commonly observed in advanced countries. It causes various problems. Thus the aged problem must be approached from quality of life, which the elderly pursue instinctively regardless of their life cycle, and the utilization of their spare time or leisure hours. However, there have been research reports that, if the elderly participate in voluntary and active meaningful leisure, they can achieve successful adaptation to their aging and the life in their old age. In particular, we need to give our attention to the fact that, compared to other leisure activities, recreational sports make significant contributions to successful aging. When the aged participate in active leisure and recreational sports regularly, their satisfaction with spare time is enhanced and their loneliness is relieved, which resultantly brings high life satisfaction. This suggests that recreational sports activities enable the aged to achieve successful aging and contribute to the solution of the aged problem. In order to promote physical activity for aging population, we must utilize MINIMAX strategies.
