  • In this study, we analyzed the relationship between five factors: long-wave radiation, short-wave radiation, cloudiness, SVF and summer shelters. In the previous study, we recognized the correlation between single building SVF and long-wave radiation. Furthermore, this study attempted to confirm the relationship at the summer shelter with high solar radiation blocking rate. The observations are as follows. ① Cooling in summer shelters was not the effect of temperature but the effect of radiation reduction due to short-wave radiation shielding. ② In the case of the canopy tent with low heat capacity, the long-wave radiation was observed to be 16.7% higher per hour than the comparison control point due to the increase in surface temperature. ③ The long-wave radiation increase rate was different according to SVF, but showed very similar pattern according to the material characteristics of the summer shelters. ④ Passive Cooling effect on the type of summer shelters are determined by the size of the total long and short-wave radiation at that point.

  • Introduction of wave model, considered the effect of shoaling, refraction, diffraction, partial reflection, bottom friction, breaking at the coastal waters of complex bathymetry, is a very important factor for most coastal engineering design and disaster prevention problems. As waves move from deeper waters to shallow coastal waters, the fundamental wave parameters will change and the wave energy is redistributed along wave crests due to the depth variation, the presence of islands, coastal protection structures, irregularities of the enclosing shore boundaries, and other geological features. Moreover, waves undergo severe change inside the surf zone where wave breaking occurs and in the regions where reflected waves from coastline and structural boundaries interact with the incident waves. Therefore, the application of mild-slope equation model in this field would help for understanding of wave transformation mechanism where many other models could not deal with up to now. The purpose of this study is to form a extended mild-slope equation wave model and make comparison and analysis on variation of harbor responses in the vicinities of Ulsan Harbor and Ulsan New Port, etc. due to construction of New Port in Ulsan Bay. This type of trial might be a milestone for port development in macro scale, where the induced impact analysis in the existing port due to the development could be easily neglected.

  • A continuing elevated bridge is replaced with mass-spring system model, and a part of the bridge is cut out as an analytical area. A viscous boundary is installed at both ends, and dynamic analyses are carried out changing the wave velocity of the viscous boundary, The result is compared with a result of a very long model corresponding to the solution with infinite length. A wave velocity is chosen so that the good performance of a viscous boundary is exhibited. The parametric analyses are carried out changing the model of various structural properties, and an approximation expression is suggested to obtain the wave velocity easily for setting a viscous boundary.

  • In this paper, the $(\frac{G'}{G})$-expansion method is used to construct new exact travelling wave solutions of some nonlinear evolution equations. The travelling wave solutions in general form are expressed by the hyperbolic functions, the trigonometric functions and the rational functions, as a result many previously known solitary waves are recovered as special cases. The $(\frac{G'}{G})$-expansion method is direct, concise, and effective, and can be applied to man other nonlinear evolution equations arising in mathematical physics.

  • One of the most remarkable aspects of the recently completed 3GPP release-15 (5G new radio phase 1) is the fact that some millimeter-wave bands have been officially approved for 5G mobile communications. Because the demand for higher transmission capacity has only grown, other millimeter-wave or even higher-frequency terahertz-wave bands have attracted more attention over time. Based on this effort, this paper reviews and discusses the existing technologies and their trends in high-frequency circuits and systems at the millimeter and terahertz-wave bands, particularly for future mobile communications.

  • In recent years, coastal and port structures have attempted to prevent wave-overtopping or provide waterfront areas by installing superstructures on the structural crowns. In general, in the design stage, the Goda formula acting on the front the structure is applied to calculate the wave pressure acting on the superstructure in consideration of the wave-runup of the design wave. However, the wave pressure exceeding the Goda wave pressure could generate depending on the installation location of the superstructure where the wave-overtopping occurs. This study analyzed the applicability of the Goda formula to the wave pressure calculation for the superstructure of the vertical structures through hydraulic model experiments and numerical simulations. Furthermore, this study investigated the magnitude of the wave pressure acting on the superstructure based on detailed numerical results. As a result, the wave pressure acting on the superstructure was up to 120% higher than the maximum wave pressure on the still water surface. In addition, the wave pressure increases exponentially with the Froude number computed by the overtopping water depth at the crown of the structure, and we proposed an empirical formula for predicting the wave pressure based on the Froude number.
