A feedback loop with bandpass filter is introduced in erbium-doped fiber amplifier to clamp the amplifier gain by lasing the amplifier at a selected wavelength. The gain and the ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) output spectra are found to be independent of input signal power and pump power variation so long as the amplifier is lasing. Also they are found to be dependent only on the overall loss of the feedback loop. Even in the case of slowly modulated large signal input, signal distortion due to gain saturation is not observed.served.
A mathematical model for the input-output characteristic of an amplifier exhibiting gain expansion and weak and strong nonlinearities is presented. The model, basically a Fourier-series function, can yield closed-form series expressions for the amplitudes of the output components resulting from multisinusoidal input signals to the amplifier. The special case of an equal-amplitude two-tone input signal is considered in detail. The results show that unless the input signal can drive the amplifier into its nonlinear region, no gain expansion or minimum intermodulation performance can be achieved. For sufficiently large input amplitudes that can drive the amplifier into its nonlinear region, gain expansion and minimum intermodulation performance can be achieved. The input amplitudes at which these phenomena are observed are strongly dependent on the amplifier characteristics.

This paper presents an envelope tracking power amplifier using a standard CMOS process for the 3GPP long-term evolution transmitters. An efficiency of the CMOS power amplifier for the modulated signals can be improved using a highly efficient and wideband CMOS bias modulator. The CMOS PA is based on a two-stage differential common-source structure for high gain and large voltage swing. The bias modulator is based on a hybrid buck converter which consists of a linear stage and a switching stage. The dynamic load condition according to the envelope signal level is taken into account for the bias modulator design. By applying the bias modulator to the power amplifier, an overall efficiency of 41.7 % was achieved at an output power of 24 dBm using the 16-QAM uplink LTE signal. It is 5.3 % points higher than that of the power amplifier alone at the same output power and linearity.
In this paper, we describe a chip design technique for instrumentation amplifier using a nested-chopping technique. Conventional chopping technique uses a pair of chopper, but nested chopping technique uses two pairs of chopper to reduce residual offset and 1/f noise. The inner chopper pair removes the 1/f noise, while the outer chopper pair reduces the residual offset. Our instrumentation amplifier using a nested chopping technique has residual offset under 100 nV. We also implement very low frequency filter. Since this filter needs very large RC time constant, we use a technique named 'diode connected PMOS' to increase R with small die area. The total power consumption is 3.1 mW at the supply voltage of 3.3V with the 0.35um general CMOS technology. The die area of implemented chip was $530um{\times}300um$.

In this appear, we proposed the new current mirror has large output resistance and excellent current matching characteristics. If supply voltage were lowered under the conventional CMOS operational amplifier, the wing of out put power could be restricted. So, the paper suggests a new way of differential operational amplifier circuit to solve the problem. The paper proposes that a new current mirror increases output swing and has a stable operation. We compare and verify characteristics of the proposed current mirror with the cascoded current mirror and the regulated current mirror through simulation.

Liquid pressure amplifiers have been proposed as an energy saving technology for vapor compression refrigeration systems configured with direct-expansion evaporators. The technology utilizes a refrigerant pump in the high pressure liquid line as a means of maintaining a suitable pressure differential across the expansion valve while lowering condensing pressure to achieve the reduction of compressor energy consumption. Applications have been proposed on systems ranging from small unitary air-conditioning to large supermarket and commercial refrigeration systems. This paper clarifies the role of such a device in a vapor compression refrigeration system. Limitations are presented and discussed. Finally, results of detailed analyses are presented to quantify the energy consumption both with and without a liquid pressure amplifier in a unitary air conditioning system. The estimated energy savings associated with the installation of a liquid pressure amplifier are minimal.
A typical terahertz time-domain spectroscopy system requires large, expensive, and heavy hardware such as a lock-in amplifier and a function generator. In this study, we replaced the lock-in amplifier and the function generator with a single sound card built into a typical desktop computer to significantly reduce the system size, weight, and cost. The sound card serves two purposes: 1 kHz chopping signal generation and raw data acquisition. A unique software lock-in (Python coding program to eliminate noise from raw data) method was developed and successfully extracted THz time-domain signals with a signal-to-noise ratio of ~40,000 (the intensity ratio between the peak and average noise levels). The built-in sound card with the software lock-in method exhibited sufficiently good performance compared with the hardware-based method.

Parametric array transducers are used for long-range and highly directional communication in an underwater environments. The power amplifiers for parametric array transducers should have sufficient linear output characteristic and high efficiency to avoid communication errors, system heating, and fuel problems. But the conventional power amplifier with fixed source voltage is very low efficient due to large power loss by the big difference between the fixed source voltage and the amplifier output voltage. Thus to solve the problems this paper proposes the high efficiency power amplifier for parametric array transducers. The proposed power amplifier ensures high linearity of output characteristic by utilizing the push-pull class B type amplifier and furthermore gets high efficiency by applying the envelope tracking technique that variable source voltage tracks the envelope of the amplified signal. Also the paper suggests the detailed circuit topology and design guideline of class B push-pull type amplifier and variable output voltage AC/DC converter. Its characteristics are verified by the detailed simulation and experimental results.
Mobile phone antenna needs a small size and light weight for carrying and handling. In case of receiving a wide band TV signal, it would be difficult to obtain a good impedance matching between the antenna and the circuit due to a large capacitive reactance of antenna. Buffer amplifier was established on the teflon( ${\varepsilon}_r=3.38$, h=20mils) substrate by using GaAs FET( CPY30 ) and Silicon RF Transistor( BFP540 ) produced by Infineon and experimented.

A prototype of photoelectric photometer has been developed by all solid state operational amplifiers. The amplification of low-level anode currents from photomultiplier tube corresponding to a given incident light intensity and logarithmic transfer for star's magnitude nleasurements are achieved by the same operational amplifier. It is important to select low input bias currents for stable performance because the resolution is primarily limited by the bias currents. As such, they offer a higher reliable and economical for a large number of electrometer amplifier applications which have traditionaly been fulfilled by vacuum electrometer tubes or vibrating reed electrometers.
