Objective: This study examined the effects of cooking activities related to seasonal customs on the language expression ability and pro-social behaviors of young children. Methods: Participants consisted of thirty-four 5-year-old children who were attending S preschool in Jeollanamdo. Seventeen children belonged to the experimental group and seventeen children to the comparative group. The experimental group participated in cooking activities related to seasonal customs, and the comparative group in cooking activities according to life themes of Nuri curriculum. Results: The results of this study revealed a significant improvement in the language expression ability and pro-social behaviors of young children in the experimental group. That is to say, the scores of the language expression ability and pro-social behaviors of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the comparative group. Conclusion/Implications: This study carries significant implications for the early childhood field as it provides valuable insight into teaching-learning activities that effectively enhance the language expression ability and pro-social behaviors of young children.

Various stress exists in a modern society, which requires constant competition and improvement. A person under stress often shows his pressure in his facial expression and language. Therefore, it is possible to measure the pressure using facial expression and language analysis. The paper proposes a stress measurement system using facial expression and language sensitivity analysis. The method analyzes the person's facial expression and language sensibility to derive the stress index based on the main emotional value and derives the integrated stress index based on the consistency of facial expression and language. The quantification and generalization of stress measurement enables many researchers to evaluate the stress index objectively in general.

In this paper we propose an emotional expression method using a comic model and special marks for effective sign-language communications. Until now we have investigated to produce more realistic facial and emotional expression. When representing only emotional expression, however, a comic expression could be better than the real picture of a face. The comic face is a comic-style expression model in which almost components except the necessary parts like eyebrows, eyes, nose and mouth are discarded. In the comic model, we can use some special marks for the purpose of emphasizing various emotions. We represent emotional expression using Action Units(AU) of Facial Action Coding System(FACS) and define Special Unit(SU) for emphasizing the emotions. Experimental results show a possibility that the proposed method could be used efficiently for sign-language image communications.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the opinions of teachers, directors, and parents about childcare teachers' facial expression language. We performed in-depth interviews based on literature and previous studies, which consisted of ten childcare teachers, ten directors, and ten parents. From the in-depth interviews, we are able to mainly conclude that all groups think that a childcare teacher's facial expression language is very important, and strongly influences interpersonal problems and work performance. Mostly, childcare teachers aim to have pleasant facial expressions. However they complain that in some situations it is difficult to do so, which causes severe stress. They argued that the facial expressions of both the director of the childcare center and the parents are also very important for children. However, the directors thought that teachers' facial expressions affect children and their parents' impressions of the teachers and quality of childcare. The parents are usually highly satisfied with the childcare when the teacher has a pleasant facial expression, which motivates the parents to have a positive impression of the teacher. Taken together, childcare teachers' facial expression language is critical for children and the childcare environment. Thus, developing an education program for facial expression language would be helpful for improving the quality of child care. Plus, childcare environments should be developed so that teachers do not experience difficulty in having pleasant facial expressions. This result might have the limitation of being collected from only female childcare teachers, directors, and parents.

This study seeks to determine children's poem composition through an activity-based nature experiencing program and how it affects their language expression and peer interaction. This research also seeks to provide preliminary data for producing more effective lecturing and learning plans. The forty participants in the study included twenty 5-year-old children from E kindergarten and 20 5-year-old children from G kindergarten in N city. The results of the study demonstrated that children in the experimental group who experienced the poem composing activity with the nature experiencing program demonstrated a positive effect in terms of the quality of language expression as well as peer interaction. These results indicate that children's poem composing activity done with nature experiencing program could be used as a new lecture and learning method for the development of language expression and peer interaction in early childhood education.

Participants in this study of the effect of story making activity on the language expression and creativity of young children were all forty 5-year-old children in a child-care facility. The experimental group read the fantasy picture book and engaged in story making activity; the control group read the same fantasy picture books the experimental group but didn't have any story making activity. Experimental treatments were given twice a week for 6 weeks. Data were analyzed by MANCOVA using scores of the pre-test as covariance. Differences were found between experimental and control groups in language expression and creativity showing that story making activity using the fantasy picture book was more effective than just reading without story making activity.

This paper proposes a 3D avatar which expresses sign language in a very using lips, facial expression, complexion, pupil motion and body motion as well as hand shape, Hand posture and hand motion to overcome the limitation of conventional sign language avatars from a deaf's viewpoint. To describe motion data of hand and other body components structurally and enhance the performance of databases, we introduce the concept of a hyper sign sentence. We show the superiority of the developed system by a usability test through a questionnaire survey.

The stage space in theatre for the performance of a play requires two aspects of the physical space for a play and the image as the background or the theme of a play. This research focuses on the scene design that creates the background or the theme of a play and communicates it to the audience. The scene design is composed of various design elements of space and objects as the properties of a play. Design elements and the objects are the design languages in various form; plane, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional form. These design language have the significant meaning as a sign like human language. The scene design is completed with rhetorical expression for communication in theatre. This research defines the category of meaning that design elements of scene design can create and the rhetorical expression of the scene design language. King Lear directed by Robert G. Anderson was analyzed with the category of design elements as a sign and the pattern of the rhetorical expression. The scene design for a play is completed effectively by the rhetorical expression of design elements as the design language for communication with the audience in theatre.

This study attempted to determine the effects of a context-based drawing task on the language expression of a severe Wernicke's and Broca's aphasic. The subjects in this study showed a poor auditory comprehension and naming performance. They also showed paraphasia and perseveration. This study focused on improving language expression by a drawing task based on conversation at hand. Ten target words were chosen which were easily drawnable and familiar to the subjects. The results showed that the context-based drawing task was effective on improving the subjects' confrontation naming ability and expressive language ability in terms of explanation of sentences. In addition, the Broca's aphasic showed improved naming ability when the contextual cues were given and he was supposed to spontaneously name words.

The following summarized argument is the comparative research of the characteristics of automatic techniques demonstrated in the mixed expression of foreign language and Korean language in Lee Sang's poetry. Our research examines the use of foreign languages such as French and English shown in Lee Sang's poems, and then, recognized the characteristics of the automatic techniques demonstrated by the parallel marks and signs of Korean language. The automatical technique's element that Lee Sang made use of is a language of loanblend, consisting of free use of French, English, Japanese and Korean. The mathematical and geometric figures such as numbers and shapes can be seen as an important poetic language. In Lee Sang's poetry, the French words "AMOUREUSES" and "ESQUISSE" and English words "I WED A TOY BRIDE" are considered as parts of Korean language. The use of foreign language is seen by the readers as encodes of a unacquainted language and it provides rhetorical characteritstics that gives off profanatory feeling about the poetry. The poet is seen to have created a new poetic language that excess the standards of the limitations that Korean and Chinese marks have through the application of polysems and poliphonyic effects that foreign languages have. The mathematical and geometric signs are Lee Sang's special experimental elements that can't be seen in other literary poetries. They are conversational and the requirements for the expression of abstract artistry and esthetics. The language used in his poetry are external to those traditional poetic languages and they mix freely with other poetic elements to become an automatic technique used in the writing. Lee Sang's techniques can be considered as the pursuit of defiance and departure, freedom about literature and artistry. Moreover, the avant-garde expressionism is the literary form that demonstrated the sense of inferiority, nervousness and loneliness risen from physical pain and the abnormal relationship with women in the poet's personal life. The technique shows the longingness of the the Western culture and literature that lay dormant in the poet's consciousness and it is also the expression of ingenious that created the new guide in the Korean poetic literature, exceeding the European surrealism. Lastly, the automatic technique images that are demonstrated by the mixture of the foreign languages and Korean language are the creations of an innate poetic language and poetic literature that can't be imitated by anyone in Korean literature.
