  • The noise emitted from construction machinery has long been a cause of environmental disputes, especially to the nearby residents. In 2008, the Ministry of Environment adopted the construction machinery noise labeling system to encourage the development of the low noise construction machinery. After the implementation of the noise labeling system of the construction machinery, the noise emitted from the construction machinery has been decreased over the six years. But, as the quality of life improves, a growing number of people desire more comfortable and quite living environment. Under the situation, new systems like the low noise labeling system are considered to encourage the development of the low noise construction machinery. In accordance with the low noise labeling system, the construction machinery satisfying the standard of low noise are qualified to attach the low noise label in front of the products. Thus, the product qualified the low noise certification will be incentivized by the choice of the consumer. In this paper, we have studied the necessity of the low noise labeling system for the construction machinery and the considerations to adopt the low noise labeling system of construction machinery. And we have studied appropriate criterion to judge the low noise construction machinery. The considerations studied in this paper will be helpful to adopt the low noise labeling system of construction machinery in the future.

  • When an XML document is updated in order to represent correctly the structural relationships of nodes in a document, the existing XML labeling schemes relabel nodes or use a labeling scheme that the label of a node has much information. However, the relabeling on large XML documents needs many labeling costs and the labeling scheme that the label of a node has much information requires many storage costs. Therefore, the existing labeling schemes degrade significantly query processing performance on dynamic XML documents. This paper proposes the bit-pattern labeling scheme that solves the problems of the existing schemes. The proposed labeling scheme outperforms the existing labeling schemes because the structural relationships of nodes are represented with a bit string.

  • This study was to investigate current regulatory status of nutrition labeling in advanced countries, such as US and Japan. In US, the mandatory and voluntary components and the order in which they must appear are total calories, total fat, cholesterol, sodium, potassium, total carbohydrate, protein vitamin and iron. The amount of each nutrient must be reported on the basis of the serving size except vitamines and minerals. In Japan, new regulatation on nutrition labeling was made in 1995. For nutrition labeling on processed food, a standard must be appeared and it is mandatory. The union of Europe and Codex also newly regulated on nutrition labeling. It is time to make new regulation on nutrition labeling for being advanced country.

  • Oral spirochetes are anaerobes known as one of causative agents for periodontal diseases. In this study, we investigated the possibility of utilizing fluorescent fatty acids for labeling oral spirochetes. Bacterial labeling was standardized with three different lengths of fluorescent fatty acids: 5-octadecanoylaminfluorescein (OAF), 5-dodecanoylamin-fluorescein (DAF), and 5-hexadecanoylaminfluorescein (HAF). Among these fatty acids, OAF showed the best labeling activity. Treponema denticola ATCC 35405 was totally saturated to the maximum when incubated with OAF $1\;{\mu}g/ml$ for 1 hour. Treponema vincentii LA-1 also increased in fluorescence in proportion to incubation time length and the concentration. In conclusion, these findings showed the possibility that the fluorescent fatty acid can be used for labeling oral spirochetes.

  • A graph G of order n has prime cordial labeling if its vertices can be assigned the distinct labels 1, $2{\cdots}$, n such that if each edge xy in G is assigned the label 1 in case the labels of x and y are relatively prime and 0 otherwise, then the number of edges labeled with 0 and the number of edges labeled with 1 differ by at most 1. In this paper, we give a complete characterization of complete graphs which are prime cordial and we give a prime cordial labeling of the closed helm ${\bar{H}}_n$, and present a new way of prime cordial labeling of $P^2_n$. Finally we make a correction of the proof of Theorem 2.5 in [12].

  • A power cordial labeling of a graph G = (V (G), E(G)) is a bijection f : V (G) → {1, 2, ..., |V (G)|} such that an edge e = uv is assigned the label 1 if f(u) = (f(v))n or f(v) = (f(u))n, For some n ∈ ℕ ∪ {0} and the label 0 otherwise, then the number of edges labeled with 0 and the number of edges labeled with 1 differ by at most 1. In this paper, we investigate power cordial labeling for helm graph, flower graph, gear graph, fan graph and jewel graph as well as larger graphs obtained from star and bistar using graph operations.

  • A radio k-labeling f of a graph G is a function f from V (G) to $Z^+{\cup}\{0\}$ such that $d(x,y)+{\mid}f(x)-f(y){\mid}{\geq}k+1$ for every two distinct vertices x and y of G, where d(x, y) is the distance between any two vertices $x,y{\in}G$. The span of a radio k-labeling f is denoted by sp(f) and defined as max$\{{\mid}f(x)-f(y){\mid}:x,y{\in}V(G)\}$. The radio k-labeling is a radio labeling when k = diam(G). In other words, a radio labeling is an injective function $f:V(G){\rightarrow}Z^+{\cup}\{0\}$ such that $${\mid}f(x)=f(y){\mid}{\geq}diam(G)+1-d(x,y)$$ for any pair of vertices $x,y{\in}G$. The radio number of G denoted by rn(G), is the lowest span taken over all radio labelings of the graph. When k = diam(G) - 1, a radio k-labeling is called a radio antipodal labeling. An antipodal labeling for a graph G is a function $f:V(G){\rightarrow}\{0,1,2,{\ldots}\}$ such that $d(x,y)+{\mid}f(x)-f(y){\mid}{\geq}diam(G)$ holds for all $x,y{\in}G$. The radio antipodal number for G denoted by an(G), is the minimum span of an antipodal labeling admitted by G. In this paper, we investigate the exact value of the radio number and radio antipodal number for the circulant graphs G(4k + 2; {1, 2}).

  • The purpose of this study was to monitor the current nutrition labeling practice on the packaging of the processed foods providing consumers with reliable nutrition information, which has been considered as a useful aid for food selection and a potent educational tool for nutrition in a daily life. The 2,214 processed foods purchased at the a wholesale market in July, 2003, were divided by food categories issued from the 2003 food codes and assessed in the terms of the nutrition composition labeling and nutrition claims. Nutrition composition labeling was found on 533 out of the 2,214 processed foods items. The findings of this study were as follows : Milk and dairy products had 66.4% of nutrition composition labeling, which was the largest percentage among the food categories. Tables format (71.3%) is the most widely used type of nutrition labeling. The title of nutrition composition labeling used the most widely was nutrition composition (71.3%). Nutrition composition included many different ways of expression, such as a table of nutrition composition, and indication of nutrition composition, etc. The expression unit of the nutrition composition labeling was use per 100g or 100mL (40.5%). The processed foods with nutrition claims were 18.0% (399 items). Nutrition claims were divided into two categories: nutrient content claims and nutrient comparative claims. The most frequently used nutrient content claims were contained (43.9%) and more or plus in the nutrient comparative claims (16.0%). Ca was the most popular item as a nutrition claim nutrient (33.6%).

  • This study was conducted to offer basic data that give effective ways to inform the country-of-origin labeling, where the ingredients they are serving are from, at school foodservice and to reconsider the importance of the labeling origin based on the survey by the elementary school students. 96.0% of the elementary school students agreed to the regulation about the country-of-origin labeling and the older students were influenced more by media and also supported the labeling. About the tendency of ingesting food from the country the students didn't like, 69% of them disagreed to eat. In the ways to label the country-of-origin labeling at school foodservice, elementary school students recognized easily the indication of origin designed by menu items, letter type. 76% of elementary school students checked the country-of-origin labeling posted at restaurants. When the students eat out, 68% of them were unwilling to have the food using the ingredients from the country they don't like. The country-of-origin for main ingredients such as beef, pork, chicken and other meat products, rice, kimchi had high importance scores. We found that the students think about the country-of-origin for main ingredients is important. Consequently, education and public relations of the country-of-origin labeling for elementary school students would be required.
