  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of simulation-based education regarding care in a cardio-pulmonary emergency care as related to knowledge, critical thinking, and problem solving ability in nursing students. The study was conducted with a nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design. Seventy four participants were assigned to either the experimental group(34) or control group(40). The simulation-based cardio-pulmonary emergency care education included lecture, team-based practice, and debriefing, and it was implemented with the experimental group for a week from September 1 to December 11, 2015. Data were analyzed using chi-square, t-test and ANCOVA by using SPSS 21.0 program. The experimental group who had the simulation-based education showed significantly higher knowledge(F=24.930, p<.001), and critical thinking(F=5.951, p<.05) for cardio-pulmonary emergency care compared with the control group who had traditional education. However, there were no significant differences in problem solving ability(F=3.327, p>.072). The results indicate that a simulation-based education is an effective teaching method to improve knowledge and critical thinking in nursing students learning cardio-pulmonary emergency care. Further study is needed to identify the effect of a simulation-based team positive education program of nursing students.

  • Purpose: This study was done to evaluate the differences between an experimental group and a control group of nursing students for their knowledge of CPR and their practical ability after undergoing CPR training. Method: This experiment was done with nursing students, who are divided into the experimental group (20 students) and the control group (23 students) in Chunbuk C city. The data were analyzed using the SPSS PC+ 12.0 program for the Chi-square tests, t-tests and Wilcoxon rank sum tests. Results: The 1st hypothesis, that the CPR knowledge scores for the experimental group will be higher than the scores for the control group (t=-3.934, p=<.001), was supported. On the other hand, the control group showed a conspicuous and meaningful improvement (t=-3.932, p=<.001). The 2st hypothesis, that the practical ability scores for the experimental group will be higher than the scores for the control group (t=-3.926, p=<.001), was supported. Conclusion: The CPR training in combination with theory and clinical placement is seen as a means to effectively develop the knowledge and practical ability of CPR.

  • As an attempt to characterize the English test section of CSAT (College Scholastic Ability Test) and to get some suggestions, this study raised the research questions, as 'What are the main factors that affect students' English test scores in CSAT, and how big influences do they have?' It has been hypothesized that among main factors are the L1 competence, represented by the Korean test scores in CSAT, background knowledge or intelligence, represented by the "total" scores in CSAT, and the two types of L2 knowledge (vocabulary and grammar on one hand and prosody m the other hand), measured by the test devised specially for this study. The individual effect of the L2 vocabulary and grammar (one kind of L2 knowledge) was 70%, that of background knowledge or intelligence 61%, that of the L1 competence 50%, and that of the L2 prosody knowledge (the other kind of L2 knowledge) 32%. According to the stepwise regression, the whole effect of these four factors was 74%. The findings suggest that first, although CSAT is based on the top-down model of comprehension, the bottom-up model of learning should be more emphasized in our English class. Also, since background knowledge or intelligence is the second most influential factor, the top-down model of learning that helps students learn to understand by activating their various schemata must also be very effective.

  • This paper is for the optimized management of the knowledge abstracted from the World-Wide Web(WWW) in which we assume the infinite knowledge-base. Though we can abstract various useful knowledge such as the facts and the rules from the WWW pages, they may include many noisy knowledge. Therefore we have to reasonably reject them from the knowledge-base which is composed of knowledge abstracted from the WWW. To do this, we propose the oblivious memorization concept. This concept is characterized by the memorization based on the oblivion mechanism of human being. We assume the memorization is the function of the concern for any knowledge, oblivion ability and time. That is, the more concern for my knowledge the ore memorizable. And, the more oblivious and the more tine spent the less memorizable by exponentially. Where, tie assume the oblivion is the function of the degree of previous memorization, memorization ability md the number of knowledge stimulation. That is, the more previously memorized, the greater memorizing ability and the more frequently stimulated by any knowledge the less knowledge oblivious.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate predictors concerning preschoolers' ability to read words, in terms of their sub-skills of alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, and phonological processing. Fourteen literacy sub-tests and three types of reading tasks were administered to 289 kindergartners aged 4 to 6 in Busan. The main results are as follows. Sub-skills that predicted reading ability varied with children's age. Irrespective of children's age groups, knowledge of consonant names and digit naming speed commonly explained the reading of real words. In contrast, skills of syllable deletion and phoneme substitution and knowledge of alphabet composition principles were related to only 4-year-olds' reading skills. Exclusively included was digit memory in predicting 5-year-olds' reading abilities, and knowledge of vowel sounds in 6-year-olds' reading skills. The type of reading task also influenced reading ability. A few common variables such as knowledge of consonant names and vowel sounds, digit naming speed, and phoneme substitution skill explained all types of word reading. Syllable counting skills, however, had predictive value only for the reading of real words. Phoneme insertion skills and digit memory had predictive value for the reading of pseudo words and low frequency letters. Likewise, knowledge of consonant sounds and vowel stroke-adding principles were significant only for the reading of low frequency letters.
