  • Fin-type SONOS (silicon-oxide-nitride-oxide-silicon) flash memory has emerged as novel devices having superior controls over short channel effects(SCE) than the conventional SONOS flash memory devices. However despite these advantages, these also exhibit undesirable characteristics such as corner effect. Usually, the corner effect deteriorates the performance by increasing the leakage current. In this paper, the corner effect of fin-type SONOS flash memory devices is investigate by 3D Process and device simulation and their electrical characteristics are compared to conventional SONOS devices. The corner effect has been observed in fin-type SONOS device. The reason why the memory characteristic in fin-type SONOS flash memory device is not improved, might be due to existing undesirable effect such as corner effect as well as the mutual interference of electric field in the fin-type structure as reported previously.

  • The high-tech large warships are minimal and they are always monitored by opponents, and become primary targets when conflicts occur. The improvement in reducing susceptibility has significant importance because it is difficult for a ship to maintain mission capability and functionality once it is damaged. Ordinary decoys are effective only under the premise that the ship has already been exposed. Traditionally, for naval vessels, techniques related to the radar have been used in military stealth techniques to ensure confidentiality. The corner reflector, on the other hand, can produce rather large radar cross sections. Continued use of deceptive systems such as chaff during operations will help to improve survivability of naval ships. From this viewpoint, corner reflector was considered for making radar countermeasures and deception technology. This paper reviews the current status of corner reflector basis decoys and the technical feasibility of corner reflectors for developing structural decoys.

  • Corner positioning templates are proposed in order to detect the accurate positions of corners that are extracted using 4-directional edge labeling. Top-down and bottom-up directional labeling are used to label the edge segments with four kinds of labels according to their directions. The points whose labels have changed are then determined as corners. The exact positions of the missing corners due to the disconnected edges are detected through the corner positioning templates that are determined according to the labels of start-points and end-points after the two-pass edge labeling. Experiment results show that the proposed method can detect the exact positions of the real corners.

  • This paper presents a three-dimensional numerical simulation for thermal oxidation process. A new elasto-viscoplastic model for robust numerical oxidation simulation is proposed. The three-dimensional effects of oxidation process such as mask lifting effect and corner effects are analyzed. In nano-scale process, the oxidant diffusion is punched through to the other side of the mask. The mask is lifted so the thickness of oxide region is greatly enhanced. The compressive pressure during the oxidation is largest in the mask corner of the island structure. This is because the masked area near the corner is surrounded by an area larger than the others in the island structure. This stress induces the retardation of the oxide growth, especially at the masked corner in the island structure.

  • The aerodynamic characteristics of large transport vehicle has become more and more important in recent vehicle design to improve driving performance in high speed cruising and raise the product valve with regard to a comfortable driving condition. Hence, detailed knowledge of the flow field around truck coner vane is essential to improve fuel efficiency and reduce the dirt contamination on vehicle body surface. In this study, three-dimensional flow characteristics around corner vane attached to truck cabin were computed for the steady, incompressible, and high speed viscous flow, adopting the RNG k-$\varepsilon$ turbulence model. In order to investigate the influence of configuration and structure of corner vane, computations were carried out for four cases at a high Reynolds number, Re=4.1$\times$106 (based on the cabin height). The global flow patterns, drag coefficient and the distributions such as velocity magnitude, turbulent kinetic energy around the corner vane, were examined. As a result of this study, we could identify the flow characteristics around corner vane for the variation of corner vane length and width. Also, suggest the improved structure to reduce the dirt contamination in cabin side.

  • Chassis system has a large influence on ride quality, stability and NVH performance of a car. To improve the performance and reduce cost, the development of chassis modular assemblies is emphasized. To develop chassis corner modules, it is necessary to predict the performance of full vehicle motion such as ride, handling performance, NVH characteristics and durability of modules. In this paper, full vehicle test is performed to acquire the road load data of chassis corner module of passenger car. 3-axis simulator modeling are carried out to simulate reaction force analysis and fatigue analysis of new developed modules. Also, real simulator tests to validate performance of new developed modules are performed. We had developed the accelerated durability test procedure of KATECH PG and it is used to test chassis corner modules at laboratory and simulate durability performance. All these results have been provided to module and parts company and make an important role to develop chassis corner modules.

  • Structural behaviour of the front loader for an agricultural tractor was analyzed for three impact test conditions: drop and catch, corner pull, and corner push. Rigid-body dynamic, transient structural, and static structural analyses were conducted using a commercial finite element software. Analysis of the drop and catch test dealt with the case that the bucket located at the maximum elevation was dropped and catched through three steps. Analysis of the corner pull test dealt with the case that the bucket constrained to the ground by a chain at its corner was raised suddenly. Analysis of the corner push test dealt with the case that the corner of the bucket collided with an obstacle. Results of analyses of the three test conditions showed that maximum stress occurs at the geometrically discontinuous location in the mount and is caused from local stress concentration. Results of the present research can be utilized as a guideline to achieve more reliable and safe structural design of the front loaders.

  • We consider the several plane sector domains which are bonded together along common edges with vertex at the origin. Such domains appear in electric conducting problem with multi-layered heterogeneous media. Our aim is to give a structure theorem of the singularities of the electric field at the corner. Also, we provide a regularity theorem for the electric field.

  • Experimental investigations were conducted for the internal flows of the axial flow stator and diagonal flow rotor. Corner separation near the hub surface and the suction surface of stator blade are mainly focused on. For the design flow rate, the values of the axial velocity and the total pressure at stator outlet decrease between near the suction surface and near the hub surface by the influence of corner wall. For the flow rate of 80-90% of the design flow rate, the corner separation of the stator between the suction surface and the hub surface is observed, which becomes widely spread for 80% of the design flow rate. At rotor outlet for 81% of the design flow rate, the low axial velocity region grows between near the suction surface of rotor and the casing surface because of the tip leakage flow of the rotor.

  • This paper presents a novel approach for constructing a piecewise triangular cubic polynomial surface with $C^1$ continuity around a common corner vertex. A $C^1$ continuity condition between two cubic triangular patches is first derived using mixed directional derivatives. An approach for constructing a surface with $C^1$ continuity around a corner is then developed. Our approach is easy and fast with the virtue of cubic reproduction, local shape controllability, $C^2$ continuous at the corner vertex. Some experimental results are presented to show the applicability and flexibility of the approach.
