  • A $SF_6$ gas circuit breakers are widely used for short circuit current interruption in EHV or UHV power system. During a $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker development, Simplified synthetic testing facility is used.   • 최근 스마트폰의 사용자가 증가함에 따라 고속 이동통신에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있으며, 특히 3G LTE(Long Term Evolution) 시스템은 대형 통신사업자로부터 차세대 기술로 선택되어 상용화가 예상되고 있다. 이 논문은 표준 시스템 모델을 제시하여 동일한 환경에서 성능비교 및 평가를 통해 3G LTE 시스템에 대한 핸드오버 기법을 제안하여 기지국 운용 자동화와 서비스 Interruption을 줄이는 방안을 제시한다. 결론적으로 3G LTE 기술에 효율적인 핸드오버 기법을 적용하여 이동통신망을 최적화 시키는 효과를 얻을 수 있다.

  • The analysis system has been needed to pre-evaluate and analyze the right for sunlight and the right for view in a residential environment since the urban high density and high rise residentinal building types have been prevailing these days. The purpose of this study is to propose an digital analysis method to evaluate sunlight and view conditions in a residential environment to improve the system performance in the sense of speed and accuracy. The digital analysis method using the object-oriented 3D CAD system and parametric library is studied and applied in the system and the various outputs of the analysis system makes possible to modify the design with the speed and accuracy as a result of the analysis. The study includes the evaluation for a daylight and view condition of each unit, and the interruption degree to a vicinity environment in terms of sunlight and view conditions comparing before and after construction.

  • This paper deals with electromagnetic transient modelling of wind power system embedded in distribution networks. Wind power system consists of induction generator link reactor, distribution line, and controlled load unit. The introduction of embedded wind power system presents a new set of conditions to networks both with respect to power quantify needed to be transported and power quality such as sag swell, very short interruption, and flicker. This paper investigates the transient behavior of voltage, frequency, and load flow in wind driven induction generation system embedded in distribution networks.

Error Recovery Technique for Improving Reliability of Embedded Systems

  • In this paper, we propose a fault tolerance technique which enables embedded systems to run without interruption while its operating system and tasks fail. In order to improve reliability, the proposed scheme makes an embedded system run as a virtual machine on virtual machine monitor. It also prepares a contingency virtual machine at which periodical backups of the embedded system are saved. When an error occurs in the main virtual machine, the corresponding standby virtual machine takes a role of the main virtual machine and continues its operation. Especially such backups and switches of virtual machines are performed with minor performance degradation by manipulating page table entries in virtual machine monitor. By conducting performance evaluation studies, we show that the proposed scheme makes embedded system robust against errors while it does not degrade the performance of the system significantly.

  • Electrical energy supply interruption degrades reliability of power supply as well as social costs and economic loss. It is important to assess the reliability of the power system. Nowadays IEC61850 based substation automation system(SAS) has been developed for an updating of automation and interoperability. In this study, three kinds of reliability block diagram(RBD) were proposed to examine of network availability of the three types SAS. And reliability and unreliability of the SAS was formulated using the RBD. Finally, while varying the value of reliability and unreliability, the reliability and the unreliability of the overall system were evaluated.

  • A series voltage compensation(SVC) system is a power-electronics controller that can protect sensitive loads from disturbance in the supply system. Especially, voltage sags are considered the dominant disturbances affecting the power quality. This paper dealt with a system of off-line type voltage sag compensation by using a bi-directional DC/DC converter of environmentally friendly ultra-capacitor. This capacitor is attached to the DC link of SVC through the high-efficiency DC/DC converter in order to compensate the DC link voltage drop during short-term power interruption as voltage sags. Therefore, in this paper, a DC/DC converter to control high-efficiency energy of ultra-capacitor and voltage sag detection algorithm of off-line type SVC systems are newly introduced. According to the results of experimental of prototype system, it is verified that the proposed system has effectiveness of voltage sag compensation using an ultra-capacitor.

  • In this study, a SFCL-combined DC circuit breaker system was proposed by applying the current-limiting technology for DC circuit breaking. The SFCL-combined circuit breaker system consists of a mechanical DC circuit breaker combined with superconductors. To ensure the reliable structure and operation of the SFCL-combined circuit breaker system, a simulation grid was designed using the EMTDC/PSCAD program, and simulation was conducted. The results showed that the SFCL-combined DC circuit breaker system with superconductors limited the maximum fault current by 37%. In addition, the burden on the DC circuit breaker was decreased by 87%.

  • A high peak power demand at substations will result under Moving Block Signalling (MBS) when a dense queue of trains begins to start from a complete stop at the same time in an electrified railway system. This may cause the power supply interruption and in turn affect the train service substantially. In a recent study, measures of Starting Time Delay (STD) and Acceleration Rate Limit (ARL) are the possible approaches to reduce the peak power demand on the supply system under MBS.   • The COMS ground segment will operate the geostationary satellite continuously 24h/7days and deliver processed data to end-users with respect to the predefined schedule without delay. For reliable operation, each COMS ground center has internally dual-configuration for critical systems but impossible to every components. Any unexpected failure or regular maintenance to the single configured antenna system may lead the interruption of COMS service and operation. The natural disaster or external attack can destroy one ground center and the operation will be stopped. Therefore COMS program implements backup system remotely located in other centers. Even considering foreign geostationary systems, it's the best solution guaranteeing consistent system operation against internal failure or external disaster.
