  • In a reality where negative perceptions and social prejudices towards individuals with mental illnesses persist, the absence and lack of social support systems acquired through personal intimate social networks can be considered a significant hindrance to the quality of life for those with mental disorders. Therefore, this study examined the impact of the characteristics of social networks and social support on the life satisfaction of individuals with mental illnesses. A survey was conducted with 180 patients from seven mental health treatment facilities in the Daegu area. The data were analyzed using MANOVA, hierarchical multiple regression analysis, and Sobel test for mediation analysis with SPSS 25 software. The key findings of the study revealed that the intimacy aspect of social networks had a positive and significant effect on social support and life satisfaction. On the other hand, the size of the social network showed a negative influence on social support. Furthermore, social support partially mediated the relationship between the intimacy of social networks and life satisfaction, and it fully mediated the relationship between the size of social networks and life satisfaction. Based on these research outcomes, practical and policy-related recommendations are provided to enhance life satisfaction through increased social support for this population.

  • This study sought to verify and examine the factors that influence social capital on social economy awareness. To summarize the results of the study, the results are as follows. As a result of analyzing the impact of social capital on social economy awareness, norms (t=3.228, p<.01) and participation (t=3.057, p<.01) had a significant impact on social economy awareness. In other words, the better the norms are observed and the higher the participation, the more influence it has on social economy awareness. Based on these results, the following implications were drawn. First, 'norms' refer to rules or standards that community members must adhere to within society, and these norms play a role in regulating the behavior of individuals and promoting social cooperation. Through this, it is believed that a strong normative system can have a significant impact on the way people participate or cooperate in social economy activities. Second, 'participation' is an indicator of how actively an individual or group participates in social activities. People with high levels of participation through social capital will have a high level of understanding of social economy awareness and will be able to act effectively. These results show that in previous studies, the better the norms were observed and the more trust and networks were strengthened, the higher the awareness of social economy. In contrast, in this study, norms and trust were found to have an effect, but the network did not, showing a difference from the results of previous studies, so repeated research is expected to be necessary in the future. Considering the results above, strengthening and developing the elements of social capital such as norms and participation can have a positive impact on overall socioeconomic awareness and development.

  • Recently, enviromentally friendly natural substances derived from plants have been attracting attention as cosmetic materials, and research on various physiological activities of natural substances is being actively conducted. This study investigated the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, moisturizing, and antibacterial effects of three types of extracts of mixtures containing different mixing ratios, Polygala tenuifolia, Angelica dahurica, and Elsholtzia splendens, known to have various physiological activities. The mixing ratio is 7 conditions (M1, 1:1:1; M2, 0.5:1.5:1; M3, 1.5:0.5:1; M4, 0.1:0.95:0.95; M5, 0.5:0.5:2; M6, 0.95 :1.95:0.1; M7, 1.45:0.1:1.45), and the optimal mixing ratio was confirmed for use as a cosmetic material. DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities showed scavenging abilities of 75.37% and 99.19%, respectively, at 1,000 ㎍/mL of M6. At a concentration of 200 ㎍/mL of M6, it showed 50% of nitric oxide production inhibition compared to the lipopolysaccharide-treated that induced an inflammatory response. It was confirmed that M3 and M6 produced hyaluronic acid 1.47 and 1.49 times higher than the control at a concentration of 50 ㎍/mL, respectively. Through the disc diffiusion test, the clear zone was 9.75 mm at 8 ㎍/mL of M6, confirming the inhibition of growth of staplylococcus aureus strain. Based on the above results, it is believed that the mixed extract of Polygala tenuifolia, Angelica dahurica, and Elsholtzia splendens can be used as a functional natural material for cosmetics.

  • Globally, rising energy costs and increased energy demand are important issues for the food processing and manufacturing industries, which consume significant amounts of energy throughout the supply chain. Accordingly, there is a need for the development of a real-time energy monitoring and analysis system that can optimize energy use. In this study, a food factory energy monitoring system was proposed based on IoT installed in a food factory, including monitoring of each facility, energy supply and usage monitoring for the heat treatment process, and search functions. The system is based on the IoT sensor of the food processing plant and consists of PLC, database server, OPC-UA server, UI server, API server, and CIMON's HMI. The proposed system builds big data for food factories and provides facility-specific monitoring through collection functions, as well as energy supply and usage monitoring and search service functions for the heat treatment process. This data collection-based energy monitoring system will serve as a guide for the development of a small and medium-sized factory energy monitoring and management system for energy savings. In the future, this system can be used to identify and analyze energy usage to create quantitative energy saving measures that optimize process work.
