Motivation: Protein-protein interaction plays a critical role in the biological processes. The identification of interacting proteins by bioinformatical methods can provide new lead In the functional studies of uncharacterized proteins without performing extensive experiments. Results: Protein-protein interactions are predicted by a computational algorithm based on the weighted scoring system for domain interactions between interacting protein pairs. Here we propose potential interaction domain (PID) pairs can be extracted from a data set of experimentally identified interacting protein pairs. where one protein contains a domain and its interacting protein contains the other. Every combinations of PID are summarized in a matrix table termed the PID matrix, and this matrix has proposed to be used for prediction of interactions. The database of interacting proteins (DIP) has used as a source of interacting protein pairs and InterPro, an integrated database of protein families, domains and functional sites, has used for defining domains in interacting pairs. A statistical scoring system. named "PID matrix score" has designed and applied as a measure of interaction probability between domains. Cross-validation has been performed with subsets of DIP data to evaluate the prediction accuracy of PID matrix. The prediction system gives about 50% of sensitivity and 98% of specificity, Based on the PID matrix, we develop a system providing several interaction information-finding services in the Internet. The system, named PreDIN (Prediction-oriented Database of Interaction Network) provides interacting domain finding services and interacting protein finding services. It is demonstrated that mapping of the genome-wide interaction network can be achieved by using the PreDIN system. This system can be also used as a new tool for functional prediction of unknown proteins.
In this paper, we propose a probabilistic framework to predict the interaction probability of proteins. The notion of domain combination and domain combination pair is newly introduced and the prediction model in the framework takes domain combination pair as a basic unit of protein interactions to overcome the limitations of the conventional domain pair based prediction systems. The framework largely consists of prediction preparation and service stages. In the prediction preparation stage, two appearance pro-bability matrices, which hold information on appearance frequencies of domain combination pairs in the interacting and non-interacting sets of protein pairs, are constructed. Based on the appearance probability matrix, a probability equation is devised. The equation maps a protein pair to a real number in the range of 0 to 1. Two distributions of interacting and non-interacting set of protein pairs are obtained using the equation. In the prediction service stage, the interaction probability of a protein pair is predicted using the distributions and the equation. The validity of the prediction model is evaluated fur the interacting set of protein pairs in Yeast organism and artificially generated non-interacting set of protein pairs. When 80% of the set of interacting protein pairs in DIP database are used as foaming set of interacting protein pairs, very high sensitivity(86%) and specificity(56%) are achieved within our framework.
In this work, the ground-state properties of an interacting electron gas confined in a two-dimensional quantum dot system with the Gaussian potential ${\upsilon}(r)=V_0(1-{\exp}(-r^2/p))$, where $V_0$ and p are confinement parameters, are determined numerically by using the Thomas-Fermi approximation. The shape of the potential is modified by changing the $V_0$ and the p values, and the influence of the confining potential on the system's properties, such as the chemical energy, the density profile, the kinetic energy, the confining energy, etc., is analyzed for both the non-interacting and the interacting cases. The results are compared with those calculated for a harmonic potential, and excellent agreement is obtained in the limit of high p values for both the non-interacting and the interacting cases.
Characteristic of turbulent nonpremixed interacting flames are investigated experimentally 8 or 9 nozzles are arranged in the shape of matrix or circle. When there is no center nozzle, flame is more stable than with center nozzle case. It is shown that these blowout limit enlargements are related with the recirculation of burnt gases. The interacting flame base was not located at the stoichiometric point. NO concentrations of interacting flame are smaller than that of single flame using same area nozzle.
Flame structure of diffusion flame interacting with a single vortex was investigated with direct numerical simulation (DNS). A well-known counterflow diffusion flame was used as an initial flat flame and single vortices were made by issuing a high-velocity jet abruptly in fuel- and air-side. The variations in the maximum concentration of major species (CO and $CO_2$) and NOx (NO and $NO_2$) with the stoichiometric scalar dissipation rate were investigated. Unsteady effects in the species concentration variation of the flame interacting with a vortex were identified by comparing with that of steady flame. $NO_2$ formation characteristics of the flame interacting with a vortex were well understood by investigating the $HO_2$ formation. To enhance the prediction performance in the fire simulation, current turbulent combustion modelings are needed to be modified by adopting the unsteady effects in the species concentrations of diffusion flame interacting with a vortex.
A merger or interaction between galaxy clusters is one of the most violent events in the universe. Thus, an interacting cluster is an optimum laboratory to understand how galaxy properties are influenced by a drastic change of the large-scale environment. Here, we present the observational evidence that bars in disk galaxies can form by cluster-cluster interaction and the bar formation is associated with star-formation enhancement. We investigated 105 galaxy clusters at 0.015
The CO emission characteristics of interacting hydrogen and methane partially premixed flames were numerically investigated. A counterflow geometry was introduced to establish interacting two partially premixed flames. An one-dimensional OPPDIF code was used to simulate the interacting flames. The GRI-v3.0 was used to calculate the chemical reactions. Emission index for CO(EICO) was evaluated to quantify the CO emitted from the interacting flames. The global strain rate and equivalence ratios for each flame(${\Phi}_{CH_4}$ and ${\Phi}_{H_2}$) were used as parameters to control the extent of interaction between two partially premixed flames. When ${\Phi}_{CH_4}$ was kept to stoichiometric condition and ${\Phi}_{H_2}$ was at rich condition, unburned H2 species of hydrogen flame was transported to the methane flame and affected reactions related with CO formation. When ${\Phi}_{CH_4}$ increased from a stoichiometry to rich condition while ${\Phi}_{H_2}$ was kept to stoichiometric condition, EICO increased initially, had a peak value at ${\Phi}_{CH_4}=1.5$ and decreased gradually. This could be elucidated with an analysis for the elementary reactions related with CO formation.
This paper considers a tracking filter algorithm which can track a maneuvering target. Multiresolutional Interacting Multiple Model (MRIMM) algorithm is proposed to reduce computational burden. In this paper multiresolutional state space model equation and multiresolutional measurement equation are derived by using wavelet transform. This paper shows the outline of MRIMM algorithm. Simulation results show that MRIMM algorithm maintains a good tracking performance and reduces computational burden.
Superposition of three wave trains on finite depth is investigated. This paper is focused on how to improve the linear superposition of three waves. This was realized by introducing the scheme. The idea of the scheme is based on a fixed point approach. Application of the scheme to the superposition makes it possible to obtain a wave profile of wave-wave interaction. With the help of FFT, it was possible to analyze high-order nonlinear frequencies for three interacting Stokes' waves on finite depth.
In this paper, we present an algorithm that allows tracking of a target using measurements obtained from a sensor with limited resolution. The Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) algorithm has been shown to be one of the most cost-effective estimation schemes for hybrid systems. The approach consists of IMM algorithm combined with a coupled version of the Joint Probabilistic Data Association Filter for the target that splits into two targets.
