Case Study of SNMP for Controlling CCTV in Intelligent Transportation Systems (지능형교통시스템(ITS)의 CCTV 제어용 SNMP 적용 사례 연구)

  • There are many problems of interoperability between ITS system equipments since the protocol standard for a network center and a node has not defined. In this paper, we consider the use of the SNMP to solve the interoperability problem, and apply the SNMP in the case of a CCTV as an example. Also, we defined its corresponding MIBs and accomplished the interoperability test, where the method of controlling the CCTV is explained and the data transmitted on the network are shown in a hexadecimal format. Our results are expected to be helpful for a guideline or feasibility test as nationwide data to support the interoperability of ITS systems between a network center and nodes.

  • The most important problem in logistic activities may be to decrease the transportation efficiency due to the traffic congestion in urban areas. The traffic congestion reduces the average travel speed of freight vehicles, and then increases the travel time. These problems can lead the logistic system to be inefficient. As a result, it causes an increase of transportation costs. In addition, the increased cost is a main barrier for the transition to an advanced logistic system. This study focuses on the analysis of key factors choosing commercial freight vehicles using Logistic regression-analysis with RP (Revealed Preference) data to solve the increase of private freight cars and transportation costs. Additionally, this paper presents policies to promote good use of commercial freight vehicles based on the results of this study.

  • In the paper, we design a autonomous mobile robot for freight transportation and propose an operation method of the robot in the warehouse. In order to implement autonomous navigation, it is needed to recognize the position of the robot and track the path to the target. Previous methods are hard to change the workspace environment and need high cost to install and keep a maintenance of the system. The lifter of freight transportation robot is designed to load and unload a baggage through up and down motion. Also, ultrasonic sensor, RFID, QR-code and camera sensor is used to carry out various functions while the robot navigates in the various environment. We design an operation method of the mobile robot in order to effectively arrive a goal position and transport a freight. The proposed methods are verified through various experiments.

Study on the Development of Congestion Index for Expressway Service Areas Based on Floating Population Big Data (유동인구 빅데이터 기반 고속도로 휴게소 혼잡지표 개발 연구)

  • Service areas in expressways are very important facilities in terms of efficient expressway operation and the convenience of users. It needs a traffic management strategy to inform drivers in advance about congestion in service areas so as to distribute users of service areas. But due to the lack of sensors and data on numbers of people in the service areas, congestion in service areas had not been measured and managed appropriately. In this study, a congestion index for service areas was developed using telecommunication floating population big data. Two alternative indices (i.e., density of service areas and floating population V/c of service areas) were developed. Finally, the floating population V/c of service areas was selected as a congestion index for service areas for reasons of the ease of understanding and comparison.

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, research and development on autonomous vehicles have been actively conducted all over the world. Under these international trends, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is actively promoting the development of autonomous vehicles aiming at commercialization of autonomous vehicles at level 3 or higher by 2020. In the level 3 autonomous vehicle, it is essential to transfer control between the driver and the vehicle according to driving situations. Prior to the full-fledged autonomous vehicle age, this study developed a representative scenario for the safety evaluation on take-over on expressways. To accomplish this, we developed a highway driving scenario first, and then developed six control transition scenarios based on 2014 highway traffic accident data and take-over data. The variables to be considered in the developed scenarios are divided into drivers, vehicles, and environmental factors. A total of 36 variables are selected.

  • This study derived the algorithm of a public transportation route search that adds safety and environmental costs according to user preference. As the means of an algorithm application and evaluation, Macro Simulation, VISUM was conducted for an analysis. The route using the subway, which is relatively low in safety and environment resistance value was preferred, and it was analyzed to select the safe and environmental route even though it detours. This study can be applicable when to verify the algorithm of route search considering safety and environment, and when introducing the algorithm of route search according to user preference in the smart-phone application in the future, it can provide users with very useful information by choosing a route as for safety and environment, and through this, the quality of user-friendly information provision can be promoted.

An Analysis of Driving Pattern and Transportation Efficiency of Commercial Vehicle using On-board Truck scale (자중계 적용을 통한 화물차량 운행패턴 및 운송효율성 분석)

  • An on-board truck scale is an essential technical solution for preventing overload, which makes the driver aware of the commercial vehicle weight. This study analyzed the effects of the driving pattern and transportation efficiency by the IoT Platform service for an on-board truck scale. A comparison of before and after installation using the long-term monitored data confirmed the reduction effects both of the overload ratio and overweight value, and their effects on increasing the transportation efficiency. In addition, the analysis result of the driving route showed that the installation of an on-board truck scale could be a more effective way of preventing overload than increasing the weighing checkpoints.

  • In this study, a study was conducted to analyze the factors affecting the acceptability for autonomous vehicles. The previous studies were reviewed to sturdy the acceptance factors and The PLS Structral equation model was used to analyze the acceptance factors. While the existing research focused on technical safety, this study comprehensively analyze safety, convenience, economy, environment, and ethical factors. The PLS model was analyzed to significant the factors that affect the acceptability for autonomous vehicles in the order of safety, economy, convenience and environment.

Development of a Model for Evaluating Metropolitan Railways' Competitiveness Against Passenger Cars: Focusing on the Express Train Service of Gyeongeui·Joongang Connected Line (광역전철의 승용차 경쟁력 평가모형 개발 : 경의선·중앙선 급행열차 직결운행을 중심으로)

  • With the aim of promoting the use of metropolitan railways, the present research developed a mode choice model for evaluating its competitiveness against passenger cars. A case study was carried out with Gyeongeui and Joongang line, and the area of interest was the direct operating railway between Ilsan and Guri station where the two lines intersect. The mode choice model was a disaggregate behavior model which used Stated Preference (SP) survey data, and the plot of competition was between private passenger cars and express trains. As a result, the mode choice model was established, and this model was used to analyze characteristics of passengers' time value and elasticity. It was shown that reducing travel time is more efficient than reducing travel cost when it comes to operating express trains in metropolitan railways. Therefore, policies designed for activating the use of metropolitan railways should expand direct operating service of individual lines and run more express trains in order to minimize transfer and in-vehicle time.

Prediction of Severities of Rental Car Traffic Accidents using Naive Bayes Big Data Classifier (나이브 베이즈 빅데이터 분류기를 이용한 렌터카 교통사고 심각도 예측)

  • Traffic accidents are caused by a combination of human factors, vehicle factors, and environmental factors. In the case of traffic accidents where rental cars are involved, the possibility and the severity of traffic accidents are expected to be different from those of other traffic accidents due to the unfamiliar environment of the driver. In this study, we developed a model to forecast the severity of rental car accidents by using Naive Bayes classifier for Busan, Gangneung, and Jeju city. In addition, we compared the prediction accuracy performance of two models where one model uses the variables of which statistical significance were verified in a prior study and another model uses the entire available variables. As a result of the comparison, it is shown that the prediction accuracy is higher when using the variables with statistical significance.
