The environmental regulation of a product is a global trend. The environmental regulation directives such as RoHS, WEEE, ELV and REACH have impacted Korean export-oriented auto parts manufacturer and affects the export of the product to aboard. In electronics manufacture and auto parts manufacturer, there are different systems for environmental regulation compliance. Nowadays the automotive mechatronics parts in a car are increasing. The HEV and intelligent car will need more mechatronics parts. It is necessary to apply the environmental regulation system of electronics to the automotive parts. In this paper, we proposed the application of PDX standard used in electronic industry to the BOM of the auto parts manufactures and showed an example of generated BOM for selected auto part using PDX. The PDX-based BOM can be used for the recording of environmental substances of the automotive mechatronics part and help the collaboration across auto parts manufactures in accordance with environmental regulation.

Recently, Interests on The Fourth Industrial Revolution has been increased. In the manufacturing sector, the introduction of Smart Factory, which automates and intelligent all stages of manufacturing based on Cyber Physical System (CPS) technology, is spreading. The complexity and uncertainty of smart factories are likely to cause unexpected problems, which can lead to manufacturing process interruptions, malfunctions, and leakage of important information to the enterprise. It is emphasized that there is a need to perform systematic management by analyzing the threats to the Smart Factory. Therefore, this paper systematically identifies the threats using the STRIDE threat modeling technique using the data flow diagram of the overall production process procedure of Smart Factory. Then, using the Attack Tree, we analyze the risks and ultimately derive a checklist. The checklist provides quantitative data that can be used for future safety verification and security guideline production of Smart Factory.
In the electronics industry, a lot of research and development is being conducted on electronic component supply, component alignment and insertion, and automation of soldering on the back side of the PCB for automatic PCB assembly. Additionally, as the use of electronic components increases in the automotive component field, there is a growing need to automate the alignment and insertion of components with leads such as transistors, coils, and fuses on PCB. In response to these demands, the types of PCB and parts used have been more various, and as this industrial trend, the quantity and placement of automation equipment that supplies, aligns, inserts, and solders components has become important in PCB manufacturing plants. It is also necessary to reduce the pre-setting time before using each automation equipment. In this study, we propose a method in which a vision system recognizes the type of component and simultaneously corrects alignment errors during the process of aligning and inserting various types of electronic components. The proposed method is effective in manufacturing various types of PCBs by minimizing the amount of automatic equipment inserted after alignment with the component supply device and omitting the preset process depending on the type of component supplied. Also the advantage of the proposed method is that the structure of the existing automatic insertion machine can be easily modified and utilized without major changes.
According to the government's smart factory promotion project for small and medium-sized enterprises, more than 10,000 intelligent factories are scheduled or already built in the country and the government-led goal is to nurture 100,000 skilled workers by 2022. Smart Factory introduces numerous types of education and training courses from the supplier's point of view, such as training institutions belonging to local governments, some universities, and public organizations, in the form of an efficient resource management system and ICT technology convergence in the automated manufacturing equipment. The lack of linkage with the NCS, the standard for training, seems to have room for rethinking and direction. Results of survey is provided for the family companies of K-University in the metropolitan area and Chungnam area, and analyzes job demands by identifying whether or not they want to introduce smart factories. Defining the practitioners who will serve as a window for the introduction of smart factory technology within the company, setting up a training goal in consideration of the career path, and including the level of training required competency units, optional competency units, and training time suitable for introducing and operating smart factories. Author would like to present an NCS-based qualification design plan.
The most essential element in wireless sensor network is wireless sensor node which collects environmental information and transmits it to the user application systems. Recently, due to the technological advancement, wireless sensor nodes are become smaller, more intelligent and less power consuming. Especially, SoC(System-on-Chip) technology, which unifies the MCU, RF module, memory and other element inside one chip, plays an important part for miniaturization of sensor node, hence reduces the manufacturing expenses. In this paper, we have designed a miniaturized wireless sensor node for wireless sensor network using commercial SoC technology and discussed about some application scenario and additional considerations.

Concurrent Engineering(CE) has presented new possibilities for successful product development by incorporating various product life-cycle functions from the earlier stage of design. In the product design, geometric representation is vital not only in its traditional role as a means of communicating design information but also in its role as a means of externalizing designer's thought process by visualizing the design product. During the last dozens of years, there has been extraordinary development of computer-aided tools intended to generate, present or communicate 3D models. However, there has not been comparable progress in the development of 3D-CAD systems intended to represent and manipulate a variety of product life-cycle information in a consistent manner. This paper proposes a novel concept, Minus Volume (MV), to incorporate various design information relevant to product lift-cycle functions. MV is a functional shape that is extracted from a design object within a bounding box. A prototype 3D-CAD system is implemented based on the MV concept and illustrated with the successful implementation of concurrent design and manufacturing.

In this paper an omni-directional mobile robot is suggested for educational robot platform. Comparing to other robots, a mobile robot can be easily designed and manufactured due to its simple geometric structure. Moreover, since it is required to have low DOF motion on planar space, fabrication of control system is also simple. In this research, omni-directional wheels were adopted to remove the non-holonomic characteristic of conventional wheels and facilitate control system design. Firstly, geometric structure of a Mecanum wheel which is a most frequently used omni-directional wheel was demonstrated. Then, the organization of the mobile platform was suggested in aspects of mechanism manufacturing and electronic hardware design. Finally, a methodology of control system development was introduced for educational purpose. Due to an intuitive motion generating ability, simple hardware composition, and convenient control algorithm applicability, the omni-directional mobile robot suggested in this research is expected to be a promising educational platform.

Agriculture production is a critical human intensive task, which takes place in all regions of the world. The process to grow and harvest crops is labor intensive in many countries due to the lack of automation and advanced technology. Much of the difficult, dangerous and dirty labor of crop production can be automated with intelligent and robotic platforms. We propose an intelligent, agent-oriented robotic team, which can enable the process of harvesting, gathering and collecting crops and fruits, of many types, from agricultural fields. This paper describes a novel robotic organization enabling humans, robots and agents to work together for automation of gathering and collection functions. The focus of the research is a model, called HARMS, which can enable Humans, software Agents, Robots, Machines and Sensors to work together indistinguishably. With this model, any capability-based human-like organization can be conceived and modeled, such as in manufacturing or agriculture. In this research, we model, design and implement a technology application of knowledge-based robot-to-robot and human-to-robot collaboration for an agricultural gathering and collection function. The gathering and collection functions were chosen as they are some of the most labor intensive and least automated processes in the process acquisition of agricultural products. The use of robotic organizations can reduce human labor and increase efficiency allowing people to focus on higher level tasks and minimizing the backbreaking tasks of agricultural production in the future. In this work, the HARMS model was applied to three different robotic instances and an integrated test was completed with satisfactory results that show the basic promise of this research.

The requirements for powerful computing capability, high capacity, low latency and low energy consumption of emerging services, pose severe challenges to the fifth-generation (5G) network. As a promising paradigm, mobile edge networks can provide services in proximity to users by deploying computing components and cache at the edge, which can effectively decrease service delay. However, the coexistence of heterogeneous services and the sharing of limited resources lead to the competition between various services for multiple resources. This paper considers two typical heterogeneous services: computing services and content delivery services, in order to properly configure resources, it is crucial to develop an effective offloading and caching strategies. Considering the high energy consumption of 5G base stations, this paper considers the hybrid energy supply model of traditional power grid and green energy. Therefore, it is necessary to design a reasonable association mechanism which can allocate more service load to base stations rich in green energy to improve the utilization of green energy. This paper formed the joint optimization problem of computing offloading, caching and resource allocation for heterogeneous services with the objective of minimizing the on-grid power consumption under the constraints of limited resources and QoS guarantee. Since the joint optimization problem is a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem that is impossible to solve, this paper uses deep reinforcement learning method to learn the optimal strategy through a lot of training. Extensive simulation experiments show that compared with other schemes, the proposed scheme can allocate resources to heterogeneous service according to the green energy distribution which can effectively reduce the traditional energy consumption.
