Improvement of learning performance and control of a robot manipulator using neural network with adaptive learning rate (적응 학습률을 이용한 신경회로망의 학습성능개선 및 로봇 제어)

  • In this paper, the design and the implementation of the adaptive learning rate neural network controller for an articulate robot, which is being developed (or) has been developed in our Automatic Control Laboratory, are mainly discussed. The controller reduces software computational load via distributed processing method using multiple CPU's, and simplifies hardware structures by the time-division control with TMS32OC31 DSP chip. Proposed neural network controller with adaptive learning rate structure using expert's heuristics can improve learning speed. The proposed controller verifies its superiority by comparing response characteristics of conventional controller with those of the proposed controller that are obtained from the experiments for the 5 axis vertical articulated robot. We, also, present the generalization property of proposed controller for unlearned trajectory and the change of load through experimental data.

  • Recently, the requirement of automation in the every fields of the industrial places has been increased remarkably. The shooting range systems in the Past have been designed on the basis of static circumstance. However, Various transformation of the shooting circumstances is required, since the target for real shooting situation not static. In this study we have established for targets Per one shooting line to realize the dynamic shooting circumstance, distributed shooting order into sequence and random ones. and accommodated the shooting time variably. And, we have done an efficient communication possible, using CAN(Controller Area Network) applied to a lot of the car and the building automation. The CAN can support real-time control efficiently by connecting multiple ECU(Electric Control Unit), since it provide the high data transfer rate and the stability of communication.

  • Intelligent Space (iSpace) is the space where many intelligent devices, such as computers and sensors, are distributed. According to the cooperation of many intelligent devices, the environment comes to have intelligence. In iSpace, the locations of multiple humans and other objects are obtained and tracked by using multiple camera and color-based method. In addition, we describe a context-aware information system which is based on Spatial-Knowledge-Tags (SKT). SKT system enables humans to access information and data by using spatial location of human and stored information in storage. The proposed tracking method is applied to the intelligent environment and its performance is verified by the experiments.

  • This paper outlines the three main fieldbus type standards: Foundation Fieldbus; WorldFIP; and the Profibus, each of which have great advantages over traditional instrumentation networking technology. The paper shows, using their specification, how they improve traditional control and data acquisition methods. By analysing the main robust, how the can be used to distribute data around the control system, provided increased diagnostic information, are easy to implement, fault confinement, and move simple control operations from the main controller to the local environment. This will help to segment industrial plants into zones which can control themselves. The main control will then be responsibility high-level control. and interzone communications.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop the flexible manufacturing system (FMS), which is cooperated with the automatic warehouse and inventory control under holonic manufacturing system (HMS). The HMS is a next wave of manufacturing revolution to deal with dynamic changing. The architecture of HMS is developed for cooperation system between the automatic warehouse agents and the manufacturing agents. This research applies the concept of HMS to develop a distributed control system for automatic warehouse and FMS by industrial network. The parts of prototype manufacturing agents consist of the conveyer system and 3-axises robot that provide the variety patterns in order to work as punch process. Each order of productions depends on the reorder points(RP) of inventory levels. The computation results indicate an improvement by comparing with traditional centralized control.

  • This paper presents how nonlinear PID control algorithms can be applied on chemical processes for a more stable operation and perfect automation. A pass balance controller is designed to balance the exiting temperatures of a heater and a heat exchange network. The proposed controller has gain-varying integral action and deals with the operational constraints in an efficient manner. Also, the use of a PID gap controller is proposed to maximize energy saving and operation stability and to minimize operator intervention in operation of air fan coolers. The proposed controller adjusts the opening of a louver automatically in such a way that it keeps the air fan pitch position within the desired range. All these nonlinear PID controllers have been implemented on the distributed control system (DCS) for good reliability and operability. Operator acceptance was very high and the implemented controllers have shown good performance and high service factor still now on. The proposed methodology can be directly applied to similar processes without any modification.

  • The world's supply of water in all forms is enormous. However, only a tiny fraction of the planet's supply is available to us as fresh water, and that is distributed very unevenly. About 97% of oater volume is found in the oceans and is too salty for drinking, growing crops, and most industrial uses except cooling. In addition water supply crises in already-water-short-regions will intensify because population and industrialization increase. Today, remote monitoring and control systems are becoming the cost-effective management tools for almost all water user groups, including irrigators, water districts, municipal water suppliers, and wildlife management groups. This paper represents a new approach in the water-gate control using radio communication. The proposed device is simple in structure and suitable for implementation of water-gate control through the transceiver by radio communication. It was confirmed that the developed device was very efficient to control level of water-gate and to prove the up and down motion of water-gate through the LCD displayer.

  • The process control methods based on the statistical analysis apply the analysis method or mathematical model under the assumption that the process characteristic is normally distributed. However, the distribution of data collected by the automatic measurement system in real time is often not followed by normal distribution. As the statistical analysis tools, the process capability index (PCI) has been used a lot as a measure of process capability analysis in the production site. However, PCI has been usually used without checking the normality test for the process data. Even though the normality assumption is violated, if the analysis method under the assumption of the normal distribution is performed, this will be an incorrect result and take a wrong action. When the normality assumption is violated, we can transform the non-normal data into the normal data by using an appropriate normal transformation method. There are various methods of the normal transformation. In this paper, we consider the Box-Cox transformation among them. Hence, the purpose of the study is to expand the analysis method for the multivariate process capability index using Box-Cox transformation. This study proposes the multivariate process capability index to be able to use according to both methodologies whether data is normally distributed or not. Through the computational examples, we compare and discuss the multivariate process capability index between before and after Box-Cox transformation when the process data is not normally distributed.

  • This paper suggests a new industrial automation system architecture which adopts the Real-Time CORBA as a solution for the recently emerging problems, such as cost eciency, interoperability with different networks, software productivity, etc. This paper shows how the adoption of RT-CORBA helps end-users to improve software productivity in the heterogeneous distributed system integrate eldbus with different kinds of network easily and lower the cost of hardware medication and extension, Finally, CRECO - a real- time CORBA which is in development and suited to industrial automation system - is introduced. RT-Linux and Probus - two major components while implementing the CRECO - are dealt with primarily.

  • This paper describes the design of gate driver circuits in distributed maximum power point tracking(DMPPT) controller for photovoltaic system. For the effective DMPPT control in the existence of shadowed modules, high voltage gate driver is applied to drive the DC-DC converter in each module. Some analog blocks such as 12-b ADC, PLL, and gate driver are integrated in the SoC for DMPPT. To reduce the power consumption and to avoid the high voltage damage, a short pulse generator is added in the high side level shifter. The circuit was implemented with BCDMOS 0.35um technology and can support the maximum current of 2A and the maximum voltage of 50V.
