  • Influence of the adaptors on the calibration of $100{\mu}H$ inductance standard was studied as a function of torque, applied when tightening the standard inductor terminal with the adaptor. Two different homemade adaptors of BPO gold-plated brass (BPO-Au) and banana-copper (BN-Cu) were made for the connection between the LCR meter and the inductance standard. The measured inductance (L) of the standard inductor and the contact resistance ($R_C$) between the adaptor and the standard inductor terminal showed exponential decreases against the torque increase from $25cN{\cdot}m$ to $150cN{\cdot}m$. The measured L and the calculated equivalence series resistance ($R_S$) were dependent on the adaptor type as well as on the $R_C$. The results of the adaptor analysis imply that the BPO-Au adaptor with the lower $R_C$ is more suitable for the inductance calibration. The calculated inductance of $99.956{\mu}H$ corrected by subtraction of the adaptor inductance and the contact resistance contributions from the measured value using the BPO-Au adaptor agreed well with the certificate ($99.948{\mu}H$) of the PTB within the measurement uncertainty of $140{\mu}H/H$.

  • In this study, we present a venting clip for high-power applications that is intended to reduce stray inductance. To reduce the stray inductance of packages in high-power applications, the proposed venting clip features slots are inserted onto a conventional clip. A conventional clip and the proposed venting clip were designed and fabricated to compare the respective stray inductance. The inductance of the proposed venting clip was approximately 15.8% than that of the conventional clip at a frequency of 100 kHz. Through a comparison between the conventional and venting clips, it is confirmed that the proposed venting clip is superior for high-power applications in terms of decreasing inductance. With reduced inductance, the switching-loss for such applications is also expected to decrease. Moreover, the impedance of the venting clip decreased by approximately 15.5% compared with that of the conventional clip at a frequency of 100 kHz. The venting clip, which has reduced resistive component, is also expected to decrease conduction loss in highpower applications.

  • With the lower supply voltage and the higher operating frequency in integrated circuits, the analysis of the power distribution network (PDN) including on-chip inductances becomes more important. In this paper, an effective inductance extraction method for a regular on-chip power grid structure is proposed. The loop inductance model applicable to chip layout is proposed and the inductance extraction tool using the proposed inductance model based on post layout RC circuits is developed. The accuracy of the proposed loop model and the developed tool is verified by comparing the test circuit simulation results with those from the partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) model. The voltage fluctuation from the RLC circuits extracted by the developed tool was examined for the analysis of on-chip inductance effects. The significance of on-chip power grid inductance was investigated by the co-simulation of chip-package-PCB.

  • In this paper, octagonal inductors for RFIC designs was fabricated with 90nm CMOS Technology to compare its quality factor and the effective inductance as functions of radius and number of turn. The quality factor decreases as the inner radius and the number of metal turned increase. However, the effective inductance increases with the increasing the inner radius and the number of metal turned. Therefore, the inductor structure should be decided according to the relative importance of Q-factor and inductance.

  • This paper improves the calculating method about the inductance with the high order frequency coreloss. It is different in which the analyzed inductance for calculating IPMSM and the measured thing for experiment. Due to this phenomenon, the expected input voltage differs from the inquired input voltage for operating the motor. This results from the coreloss margin which have both the 1st order and high order frequency value. For reducing the inductance error, after calculating the equivalence coreloss resistance with having the 1st order frequency Back_EMF and coreloss, designing the inductance with the high order frequency which occurred by the coreloss of high order frequency, and comparing the renovated inductance analysis value with the measured thing.

  • In this paper, the inductance characteristics of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) considering cross-coupling effect is analyzed. It is known that the IPMSM has it's operating point at the saturated region. So the cross-coupling effect exists, therefore cross-coupling inductance exists. With the application of Fixed Permeability Method (FPM), we can obtain more exact inductance characteristics of IPMSM. In this paper, a novel method based on the FPM is proposed, which can consider the cross-coupling effect. And the cross-coupling inductance which is the analysis result is shown. Finally, the validity of proposed method is verified by the comparison with the experimental result.

  • Inductance can be defined as several kinds of slops on the B-H curve, and at is classified into apparent, effective, incremental inductances, etc. In many research cases, its calculation and measurement are partially dealt. However it is hard to find the clear explanation of the inductance in the voltage equation of PM machines, and even its relationship with those classified inductances in the view point of design and characteristics analysis. Moreover some previous definition of inductance can not be used for the inductance of coils in PM machines. Therefore, in this paper the inductance is redefined for voltage equation of PM machines, and the methods of calculation by using finite element analysis method and measurement are explained.

  • The magnetic inductance of nanocrystalline $Fe_{73}Si_{16}B_7Nb_3Cu_1$ and an amorphous FeSiB powder sheet has been investigated to identify RFID performance. The powder was mixed with binder and solvent and tape-casted to form films. Results show annealing significantly influenced on the inductance of the material. The surface oxidation of the particles was the main reason for the reduced inductance. The maximum inductance of $Fe_{73}Si_{16}B_7Nb_3Cu_1$ alloy was about $88{\mu}H$ at 17.4 MHz, about 65% greater compared to the FeSiB alloy. The higher inductance in the nanocrystalline alloy indicates it may be used as a potential replacement of current RFID materials.

  • An optimum parasitic inductance is observed for maximizing the modulation bandwidth of the multiple quantum well (MQW) electro-absorption optical modulator. For 1.1 pF device cpaacitance of the current MQW optical modulator, the optimum parasitic inductances for maximum bandwidth are calculated for different terminating resistors. In ase of 50.ohm. terminating resistor, the 3-dB modulation bandwidth can be increased 45% wider by using the optimum parasitic inductance than nothing parasitic inductance. This calculated optimum inductance can be practically implemented, since the parasitic inductance of bondwires can be accurately analyzed using the method of moments (MoM) and controlled by changing the length and shpae of bondwires.

  • The large scale magnets like thermalnuclear fusion devices are necessary for superconducting CICC cable, When the Cable In Conduit Conductors(CICC) is occurred by the external turbulence, the CICC occurs to quench, The CICC can be broken because the CICC spends all energy in the quench-happened spot. Therefore, it is necessary to develop measurement systems of the quench detection. The measurement systems of the relative good degree of efficiency are the voltage tap sensors. The weak points of voltage tap sensors are effected by EMF noise and inductance. The thermalnuclear fusion devices easily can't measure inductance value because of plasma current. In the experiment, The value of inductance was estimated by FEM techniques and the decrement of Inductance value measured as long as remaining plasma current.
