Visible light communication (VLC) using LED lamps is suitable for implementing an indoor positioning system in an indoor environment where the global positioning system (GPS) signal does not reach. In this paper, we present an indoor positioning system for mobile robots using a VLC beacon and fuzzy rules. This system consists of an autonomous mobile robot, VLC modules, and device application software. Fuzzy rules are applied to plan the global and local paths along which the mobile robot navigates indoors. The VLC transmitter modules are attached to the wall or the ceiling as beacons to transmit their own location information. The variable pulse position modulation (VPPM) algorithm is used to transmit data, which is a new modulation scheme for VLC providing a dimming control mechanism for flicker-free optical communication. The mobile robot has a receiver module to receive the location information while performing its mission in the environment where VLC transmitters are deployed.
Due to the unavailability of global positioning system (GPS) indoors, various indoor pedestrian positioning methods have been designed to estimate the position of the user using received signal strength (RSS) measurements from radio beacons, such as wireless fidelity (WiFi) access points and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) beacons. In indoor environments, radio-frequency (RF) signals are unpredictable and change over space and time because of multipath associated with reflection and refraction, shadow fading caused by obstacles, and interference among different devices using the same frequencies. Therefore, the outliers in the positional information obtained from the indoor positioning method based on RSS measurements occur often. For this reason, the performance of the positioning method can be degraded by the characteristics of the RF signal. To resolve this issue, a map-matching (MM) algorithm based on maximum probability (MP) estimation is applied to the indoor positioning method in this study. The MM algorithm locates the aberrant position of the user estimated by the positioning method within the limits of the adjacent pedestrian passages. Empirical experiments show that the positioning method can achieve higher positioning accuracy by leveraging the MM algorithm.

The demand for indoor positioning is increasing day by day. However, the widely used positioning methods today cannot satisfy the requirements of the indoor environment in terms of the positioning accuracy and deployment cost. In the existing research domain, the localization algorithm based on three-dimensional space is less accurate, and its robustness is not high. Visible light communication technology (VLC) combines lighting and positioning to reduce the cost of equipment deployment and improve the positioning accuracy. Further, it has become a popular research topic for telecommunication and positioning in the indoor environment. This paper proposes a surface centroid TOA localization algorithm based on the VLC system. The algorithm uses the multiple solutions estimated by the trilateration method to form the intersecting planes of the spheres. Then, it centers the centroid of the surface area as the position of the unknown node. Simulation results show that compared with the traditional TOA positioning algorithm, the average positioning error of the surface centroid TOA algorithm is reduced by 0.3243 cm and the positioning accuracy is improved by 45%. Therefore, the proposed algorithm has better positioning accuracy than the traditional TOA positioning algorithm, and has certain application value.

Indoor localization is one of the basic elements of Location-Based Service, such as indoor navigation, location-based precision marketing, spatial recognition of robotics, augmented reality, and mixed reality. We propose a Voxel Labeling-based visual positioning system using object simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM). Our method is a method of determining a location through single image 3D cuboid object detection and object SLAM for indoor navigation, then mapping to create an indoor map, addressing it with voxels, and matching with a defined space. First, high-quality cuboids are created from sampling 2D bounding boxes and vanishing points for single image object detection. And after jointly optimizing the poses of cameras, objects, and points, it is a Visual Positioning System (VPS) through matching with the pose information of the object in the voxel database. Our method provided the spatial information needed to the user with improved location accuracy and direction estimation.

As Indoor Positioning System demands due to increased penetration and utilization of smart device, Indoor Positioning System using Wi-Fi or BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy) beacon takes center stage. In this paper, a terminal location of the user is calculated through Microscopic Trilateration using RSSI based on BLE. In the next step, a fingerprinting map appling approximate value of Microscopic Trilateration increases an efficiency of computation amount and energy for Indoor Positioning System. I suggest Indoor Positioning Algorithm based on BLE fingerprinting considering efficiency of energy by conducting precise Trilateration that assure user's terminal position by using AP(Access Point) surrounding targeted fingerprinting cells. And This paper shows experiment and result based on An Suggesting Algorithm in comparison with a fingerprinting based on BLE and Wi-Fi that be used for Indoor Positioning System.

An uplink indoor positioning system is proposed in the present work, where the acoustic signals are solely used for positioning. The underlying acoustic signals include whistle, finger snap, and hands-clapping. In the proposed method, positioning is achieved by finding the time-difference-of-arrivals using several self-generating sounds. To evaluate the feasibility of the signals and their positioning accuracies, the database of 100 persons about self-generating acoustic signals is built up. The results show that the hands-clapping sound is the most suitable for acoustic-based indoor positioning.
Recently, interests on positioning system for location-based services have been significantly increased. Many indoor environment systems using fingerprint scheme have been designed to take more accuracy of positioning, but they are inefficient in adapting to change of environments. In this paper, we focus on a client-based positioning system over WLAN for decreasing installation cost and adapting to change of environments. In the proposed system, APs with stable RSSI are selected as base APs independently for each reference point. Experimental results show that proposed system expands service area approximately 20% much than traditional systems using K-NN algorithm and needs only 20% modification process to fingerprint data compare with traditional systems whenever environment conditions are changed.

This paper proposes a novel indoor positioning system (IPS) that uses a calibrated camera sensor network and dense 3D map information. The proposed IPS information is obtained by generating a bird's-eye image from multiple camera images; thus, our proposed IPS can provide accurate position information when objects (e.g., the mobile robot or pedestrians) are detected from multiple camera views. We evaluate the proposed IPS in a real environment with moving objects in a wireless camera sensor network. The results demonstrate that the proposed IPS can provide accurate position information for moving objects. This can improve the localization performance for mobile robot operation.

Recently, IPS(Indoor Positioning System) Technology has been progressing study and research, It has been studied in the fingerprinting and trilateration continuously. however because Fingerprinting and Trilateration Technology use AP(Access Point) for Positioning Calculation, Fingerprinting and Trilateration are not never had a credit positioning accuracy by using unstable RSSI in large scale. in this paper, to improve the problem about precise positioning in wide area, we introduced a concept of Sector including Cell. Sectors are not involved in each other and only fingerprinting calculation is proceed in a sector. we suggest this fingerprinting system considering efficiency and accuracy and compared to conventional fingerprinting, we demonstrated our system efficiency by mathematical techniques.
Indoor location system has been used Wi-Fi to get a location. After the development of BLE(Bluetooth Low Energy), the interest in the method of a indoor positioning had been move on. It has more advantages than using Wi-Fi. Easy installation, low power consumption, low signal interference and changeable setting(Advertising interval, tx power, etc.). These things can improve efficiency or accuracy in a indoor positioning system. For this reason, recent indoor positioning system uses BLE rather than Wi-Fi. Accordingly, error factors of BLE beacon based indoor positioning should be studying for high accuracy of indoor positioning. In this research, set up few experiment scenarios and keep a close watch on how technological, environmental factor is affecting positioning accuracy. When a application uses largest signal strength to get the indoor location, the mean error of experimental results was decreased compare to using received signal strength in real-time. The result was same when the application applied average and standard deviation to get the indoor location. Changing advertising interval had an effect on the mean error of indoor positioning. Short advertising interval makes the lower mean error than large advertising interval.
