  • Purpose - This paper aims to examine the impact of buyer-supplier cooperation on suppliers' trust on buyers and the moderating role of buyers' governance mechanism between the sharing activities and trust. Research design, data, and methodology - An integrated research model is designed to materialize the research hypotheses. First, the impact of buyer-supplier cooperation is empirically analyzed by looking into how the sharing activities, in the field of information, resource, and knowledge, of buyer with supplier will affect the trust of supplier on buyer. Second, the moderating effect of contract-based governance mechanism of buyer is empirically analyzed. Third, the influence of trust on innovation performance of suppler is empirically analyzed. Results - Our findings provide supporting evidence for some of our hypotheses. First, all of the sharing activities are significantly influential, but in different degree, to trust of supplier. Second, contract-based governance mechanism of buyer have a moderating effect on the relationship between sharing activities and trust, positively in resource-sharing activities, negatively in information-sharing activities, not significant in knowledge-sharing activities. Third, supplier's trust on buyer positively affects supplier's own innovation performance. Conclusions - The strategies applied in supply chain management have become important as the competition among firms has shifted from competition between individual firms to competition between supply chains. A customer's sharing activities with its supplier may contribute to an increase in innovation performance. The supplier's information-sharing activity with its customer could affect its information-sharing activities with its main supplier. Cooperative activity with a partner in the supply chain is cultivated and amassed into relationship knowledge, and this study shows that the cooperative relational knowledge related to information-sharing activities enables firms to participate in sharing activities with their main suppliers. Increasing evidence shows that sharing various activities between buyer and supplier improves trust and performance outcomes, and enables firms to maintain competitive advantage. From the perspective of knowledge theory, external knowledge is becoming more important in firms' innovation activities, because innovative knowledge is acquired primarily through interaction with another organization. In addition, relationship learning could be an important tool in absorbing the supplier's core technology, information, expertise, and core competencies, increasing relational value.

  • Notwithstanding various discourses among scholars on the unique characteristics of comics, in Korea there is nevertheless a scarcity of quality research on the subject. Therefore, to promote quality research, it is important to consider how to best use source materials in the field of comics scholarship. Source materials can generally be categorized into three types: pre-existing comics, scholar-generated comics and user-generated comics. For this study, user-generated comics are the primary source materials, specifically comics created by mothers of children with disabilities. It is intended that this research will contribute to the future direction of education for mothers who suffer from a relative sense of alienation as the primary caregivers of children with special needs. Although therapeutic arts and cultural programs make a tremendous difference in the lives of these mothers, teaching methodology and educational opportunities are extremely limited. Furthermore, existing scholarship focuses primarily on either the psychological transformation of the individual or a phenomenological approach for parents to understand and deal with the problematic behavior of children with disabilities. However, this research does little to help improve learning programs for these parents. Against this backdrop, this research sets out to consider the potentiality and effectiveness of using comics in the education of mothers of children with disabilities. These mothers, by creating comics, develop better awareness of themselves in a positive and enriching way. It is therefore hoped that this research provides a useful analysis for developing the potentiality and effectiveness of these programs.

  • In this paper, we present a MapReduce-based mobility pattern mining system which can predict efficiently the next place of mobile users. It learns the mobility pattern model of each user, represented by Hidden Markov Models(HMM), from a large-scale trajectory dataset, and then predicts the next place for the user to visit by applying the learned models to the current trajectory. Our system consists of two parts: the back-end part, in which the mobility pattern models are learned for individual users, and the front-end part, where the next place for a certain user to visit is predicted based on the mobility pattern models. While the back-end part comprises of three distinct MapReduce modules for POI extraction, trajectory transformation, and mobility pattern model learning, the front-end part has two different modules for candidate route generation and next place prediction. Map and reduce functions of each module in our system were designed to utilize the underlying Hadoop infrastructure enough to maximize the parallel processing. We performed experiments to evaluate the performance of the proposed system by using a large-scale open benchmark dataset, GeoLife, and then could make sure of high performance of our system as results of the experiments.

  • Recently there are growing needs and demand to enhance 'Unity of knowledge' as the concept of "Creating new value through integration and convergence" is developing rapidly in many different areas in the society. This also has significant implication to education. Especially, it requires paradigm shift in terms of required capabilities and qualifications for the students with science major. To accommodate this trend, Natural Sciences and Engineering's College has been increasing convergence education which focus on cultivating creative and cooperative learning capabilities as well as acquiring fundamental knowledge of individual majors. However, convergence education developed and implemented by Sciences college or liberal education so far has been mechanical combination of knowledge from different academic fields - not effectively integrated and interdisciplinary education. Given this situation, this research is to develop and propose a "convergence education program based on the development of scientific and cultural contents" as an education tool to enhance capabilities to apply and re-create integrated knowledge as well as acquire and learn existing knowledge. Education program developed in this research aims to achieve two different and sequential capabilities. First is to understand 'Science and Technology' and 'Cultural Archetype' which would be essential and useful to create cultural contents. Second is to develop capabilities to convert this understanding into cultural contents - a storytelling capability. This education program is differentiated in that it defines cultural contents as a medium to converge and integrate science and technology and humanities. By leveraging the concept of cultural content and storytelling, this education program would be able to overcome restrictions of existing interdisciplinary approach. Also, this program would encourage students to try in-depth research and new applications, and develop logical and creative thinking.

  • Various accidents and injuries are currently occurring in Korea at increasingly high rates. Good quality emergency care service is urgently needed to cope with these various forms of accidents and injuries. In order to develop a sound emergency care system, there need to be a plan to educate and train professionals specifically in emergency care. One solution for the on going problem would be to educate and train emergency clinical nurse specialists. This study on a strategy for curriculum development for emergency clinical nurse specialist was based on the following five content areas, developed from literature related to the curriculum of emergency nursing and emergency care situation : 1. Nurses working in the emergency rooms of three university hospitals were analyzed for six days to identify categories of nursing activities. 2. Two hundreds and eleven nurses working in the emergency rooms of 12 university hospitals were surveyed to identify needs for educational content that should be included in a curriculum for the clinical nurse specialist. 3. Examination of the environment in which emergency management was provided. 4. Identification of characteristics of patients in the emergency room. 5. The role of emergency clinical nurse specialist was identified through literature, recent data, and research materials. The following curriculum was formulated using the above mentioned process. 1. The philosophy of education for emergency clinical nurse specialist was established through a realistic philosophical framework. In this frame, client, environment, health, nursing, and learning have been defined. 2. The purpose of education is framed on individual development, social structure, nursing process and responsibility along with the role and function of the emergency clinical nurse specialist. 3. The central theme was based on human, environment, health and nursing. 4. The elements of structure in the curriculum content were divided to include two major threads, I, e., vertical and horizontal : The vertical thread to consist of the client, life cycle, education, research, leadership and consultation, and the horizontal thread to consist of level of nursing (prevention to rehabilitation), and health to illness based on the health care system developed by Betty Neuman system model. 5. Behavioral objectives for education were structured according to the emergency clinical nurse specialist role and function as a master degree prepared in various emergency settings. 6. The content of the curriculum consisted of three core courses(9 credits), five major courses(15 credits), six elective courses(12 credits) and six prerequisite courses (12 credits). Thus 48 credits are required. Recommendations : 1. To promote tile quality of the emergency care system, the number of emergency professionals, has to be expanded. Further the role and function of the emergency clinical nurse specialist needs to be specified in both the medical law and the Nursing Practice Act. 2. In order to upgrade the qualification of emergency clinical nurse specialists, the course should be given as part of the graduate Program. 3. Certification should be issued through the Korean Nurses Association.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a pedestrian multi-agent model and simulation system using multi-agent theory, which may be utilized as a planning support system for building a comfort and safe environment of pedestrian street. Differing from existing pedestrian models, however, every single pedestrian was regarded as an individual agent in the model. Multiple agents like multiple pedestrians in the street then maintain their own characteristics and respond to surrounding environment. In addition their moving behavior are made by their own decision rules that they have or had acquired through the interactive communications or learning between agents like real world. After verifying the model validation, as the $R^2$ between the predicted value and observed value was up to 0.781, the developed model was applied to Gazwa district within Gyeongsang university village. The simulation system was developed by Flash MX action scripts and the physical environment of the streets was configured with the digital map and ArcGis within computer virtual space. The attribute data of buildings such as type and size of commercial business were collected through the field survey and combined with physical features. Then the effect of the variation of building attractiveness and the occurrence of street events to pedestrian environment were simulated. Through the experiments this study could make suggestions to improve pedestrian environment.

  • We can usually found the children who do overactive and aggressive behaviors. They disrupt classroom order and cause other children immense damage. Their teachers exert themselves to control or manage them in class. This may lead to a reduction of precious time for teaching-learning classroom activities. This study has counseled those children doing overactive and aggressive behaviors with solution-focused brief counseling. This study also explores the following problems. First, how does solution-focused brief counseling affect their overactive and aggressive behaviors? Second, what changes do they experience through solution-focused brief counseling? Third, is solution-focused brief counseling useful in elementary schools? To do this study task, four students have been chosen with the help of teachers in the fifth year at B Elementary School in Ansan. The four children scored high in Mi-hyun Han's 'The ratings of the child's behavior problems' and Se-Yong Jeong's 'Life of school and behavior test'. They are all eleven years old and had two interviews before the experiment and five interviews during the experiment. The analysis of the counseling has been interpreted according to the different analytical methods based on the tasks. • Recently, scientific literacy means not only the acquisition of scientific knowledge but also the linguistic ability to participate in a scientific discourse community. Keeping this in mind, this study investigated middle school students' writings about phase transitions of water in air. Sixty seven students at 9th grade (age 15) students participated in this study and wrote two individual short texts. The result of text analysis can be summarized as follows: (1) students had problems with familiar scientific terms such as 'water vapor' and 'steam' as well as unfamiliar ones like 'dew point'. (2) Students described right semantic relations and at the same time wrong ones more in the idea formed from everyday experience than those from school instruction. (3) While students showed action and process centered writing in text about everyday phenomenon, they showed more preference for technical words and nouns in text about school science. This study suggest that students could develop linguistic ability of science from both spontaneous process based on experience and formal and theoretical learning; the former in forming various semantic relations, the latter in technical and abstract aspect of scientific writing.
