This present investigation was concerned with the content of ash, Mg, Ca, K and N'a of bone, cartilage, incisor teeth and molar teeth in rats of different weights. The results obtained were summarized as follows.
1. Cartilage is the most adequate model for the study in vivo of mechanisms concerned with normal calcification.
2. The percentage of inorganic material in cartilage rose from approx 13% of the dry weight in 5g rat to 46% in the tissue from rats weighing 134g
3. There was no marked change in the content of ash, Ca, Mg, K and Na after eruptions due to the increasing weight.
Purpose: The pulp length to width (PL/W) ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor can be used as an age determination method. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor on panoramic radiographs and human chronological age in Indonesian subjects. Materials and Methods: This study analyzed with 134 maxillary lateral incisors on 113 panoramic radiographs from patients who visited the Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Unit of Dental Hospital Universitas Padjadjaran, Bandung, Jawa Barat, Indonesia, from 2013 to 2018 (age range: between 11 to 60 years). The pulp length was measured from the pulp chamber roof to the apical foramen, and the pulp width was measured on the cervical area of the cementoenamel junction in millimeters using Fiji ImageJ open-source software. Simple linear regression (in SPSS) was used to analyze the results. The reliability of the observers was evaluated. Results: The PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor was significantly correlated with chronological age (P<0.01). No statistically significant difference was found in the PL/W ratio between the left and right maxillary lateral incisors(P=0.333). There was a very strong correlation (r=0.939) between the PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor and human chronological age, with the following formula: age= -3.057+1.875×PL/W ratio (R2=0.882, standard error of estimate: 4.659). Conclusion: The PL/W ratio of the maxillary lateral incisor on panoramic radiograph can be used for age determination in Indonesian subjects.
This study was carried out in order to find out the pattern of the root resorption following maxillary incisor retraction after maxillary 1st bicuspid extration in maxillary protrusion patients. For this study, thirty two patient who received orthodontic treatment were chosen. The results were as follows; 1. Of the total 192 teeth, 61 teeth(31.77%) showed no apical root loss, 64 teeth(33.33%) fell into the class "slight", 46 teeth(23.96%) fell into the class "moderate". Only 21 teeth(10.94%) were classified as "excessive". 2. No correlation was noted between the amount of apical root loss and the types of tooth movement of the maxillary central incisors. 3. The patients who were treated with standard brackets had more changes in tooth axis and less movement of root apexes, but the patients with straight brackets had less changes in tooth axis and more movement of root apexes. 4. Comparing the degree of root resorption between bracket types, patients who had used standard brackets showed more apical root loss than patients who had used straight brackets. 5. The most frequent degree of root resorption observed in standard bracket patients was second degree, followed by first degree and third degree. The most frequent degree of root resorption observed in straight bracket patients was zero degree, followed by first, second degree and third degree.

The clinical and radiographic features of 655 congenitally missing teeth were studied with full mouth periapical radiograms and/or pantomograms from 368 persons visited the Department of Oral Radiology, Infirmary of Dentistry, Kyung Hee University during January 1981 to December 1989. The obtained results were as follows: 1. The prevalence of congenitally missing teeth was revealed to be 8.75% in total examined persons, and there was a higher prevalence in females (9.5%) than in males (8.0%). 2. The most frequently missing teeth were mandibular second premolars (24.6%), followed by mandibular lateral incisors (21.7%), maxillary second premolars (16.2%), and maxillary lateral incisors (11.5%). 3. There was a higher prevalence in the mandible (60.3%) than in the maxilla (39.7%), and no significant differences between right (49.65%) and left (50.35%) side. 4. In number of congenitally missing teeth per person, 54.6% had one missing tooth, and 32.9% had two missing teeth. 5. In persons with one or two congenitally missing teeth, the most frequently missing tooth was mandibular lateral incisor, and the second premolar was the tooth most frequently missing in those persons with more than three congenitally missing teeth.
PURPOSE. This study evaluated the bond strength between porcelain denture teeth (Bioblend 43D) and four different polymerized denture resins (Lucitone 199, Palapress, Acron MC, Triad) with and without a bonding agent and after four different types of surface treatment (polished, HF etched, sandblasted, air-abraded). MATERIALS AND METHODS. Central incisor porcelain denture teeth were divided into 32 groups of 5 each. Tensile bond strength (MPa) was determined using a testing machine at crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min. Mean and standard deviation are listed. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA. Means were compared by Tukey-Kramer intervals at 0.05 significance level. RESULTS. All surface treatment increased bond strength compared to polished surface and the highest bond strength was found with Palapress resin with etched porcelain surface (8.1 MPa). Bonding agent improved the bond strength of all denture resins to porcelain teeth. Superior bonding was found with Palapress and air-abraded porcelain (39 MPa). CONCLUSION. Resins with different curing methods affect the bond strength of porcelain teeth to denture bases. Superior bonding was found with auto-polymerized resin (Palapress). Application of ceramic primer and bonding agent to porcelain teeth with and without surface treatment will improve the bond strength of all denture resins to porcelain teeth.
This study was performed to locate the anteroposterior position of the center of resistance of upper anterior teeth when intrusive forces are acted on them by applying segmented arch mechanics. Three-dimensional finite element model of upper six anterior teeth, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone was constructed The locations of the center of resistance were compared according to the three variables, which are number of teeth contained in anterior segment, axial inclination of anterior teeth, and degree of alveolar bone loss. The following conclusions were drawn from this study; 1. When the axial inclination and alveolar bone height were normal, the locations of center of resistance of anterior segment according to the number of teeth contained were as follows; 1). In 2 teeth segment, the center of resistance was located in the distal area of lateral incisor bracket 2) In 4 teeth segment, the center of resistance was located in the distal 2/3 of the distance between the brackets of lateral incisor and canine. 3) In 6 teeth segment, the center of resistance was located in 3mm distal of canine bracket, which is interproxirnal area. between canine and 1st premolar. 4) As the number of teeth contained in anterior segment increased, the center of resistance shifted to the distal side. 2. As the labial inclination of incisors increased, the center of resistance shifted to the distal side. 3. As the alveolar bone loss increased, the center of resistance shifted to the distal side.
The authors have studied the growth and development of mandibular permanent teeth in order to the make basic data that are necessary to determine the forensic age. The 631 subjects whose ages range from 3 years to 18 years were selected to analyze calcification degree of mandibular teeth. The results were as follows: 1. There were significant differences between adjacent ages, except 14-15 years and 17-18 years. 2. In each tooth, these were differences between adjacent ages from 3 years to 10 years, except central incisor and third molars. 3. All teeth were almost completely developed at the age of about 14 years, except second and third molars. 4. In each tooth, there were the widest significances between adjacent ages in premolars.

There were two cases of esthetic improvement of discolored teeth. First case was 12-year-old girl whose upper right central incisor was discolored after traumatic injury. She was treated by walking bleaching technique. Endodontic retreatment was done, and then the mixture of Superoxol and sodium perborate was applied and changed every week. After 3 weeks, esthetic result was obtained and fracture site was rcovered with light-curing composite resin. Second cases was 11-year-old girl whose teeth were discolored by fluorosis. She was treated by vital bleaching technique. A resin splint was made and then 30% and 15% carbamide peroxide was applied using this splint. After 4 weeks, a noticeable improvement in the color and the brightness of the teeth was achieved.

Tooth avusion implies total displacement of teeth out of its socket. Its frequency range from 0.5 to 16% of traumatic injuries. Replantation procedure is used for the treatment of avulsed tooth. However, its major complications are pulp necrosis, inflammatory root resorption and replacement root resorption. This paper describes 10 years and 2 months old male patient whose both maxillary central incisors were avulsed due to fall-down with slightly underdeveloped root apices. Teeth were replanted 2 hours after accident. Right central incisor's pulp tissues were extirpated and filled with $Vitapex^{(R)}$(calcium hydroxide) at 3-4 weeks after replantation, but left central incisor was filled at 8-9 weeks. Right central incisor showed little inflammatory resorption in apical portion, whereas left central incisor showed severe root resorption. During 18 months' follow-up period, left central incisor showed slightly ankylosis while right central incisor did not. Based upon the above-mentioned results, the following conclusions can be drawn: 1. Inflammatory resorption could be suppressed by endodontic treatment with calcium hydroxide. 2. When apex formation is doubted in replanted tooth due to avulsion, early endodontic treatment with calcium hydroxide seems to act positively for better prognosis.
Purpose: Length measurement from maxillary anterior teeth root tip to nasal floor is incorrect in panoramic radiography. Comparison of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and panoramic radiography should be helpful in determining the vertical length. Methods: Sixty nine patients were taken CBCT and panoramic radiography of the maxillary anterior. First measurement is length of parallel lines from the central incisor and lateral incisor root tip to nasal floor on CBCT. Second measurement is length of perpendicular lines from the central incisor and lateral incisor root tip to nasal floor on CBCT. Third measurement is length from the central incisor and lateral incisor root tip to nasal floor on panoramic radiographys. Results: In the first measurement of the maxillary central incisors, an average of $11.36{\pm}2.49$ mm in males and $10.49{\pm}2.17$ mm in females. In the second measurement of the maxillary central incisors, $10.41{\pm}2.42$ mm in males and $9.18{\pm}2.08$ mm in females. In the third measurement of the maxillary central incisors, $10.71{\pm}2.20$ mm in males and $9.27{\pm}2.10$ mm in females. In the first measurement of the maxillary lateral incisors, an average of $13.40{\pm}2.04$ mm in males and $11.96{\pm}2.20$ mm in females. In the second measurement of the maxillary lateral incisors, $11.25{\pm}1.82$ mm in males and $10.06{\pm}1.68$ mm in females. In the third measurement of the maxillary lateral incisors, $11.47{\pm}2.01$ mm in males and $10.13{\pm}1.70$ mm in females. Conclusion: The vertical length from root tip to nasal floor was longer in male than female (P>0.05). First measurement was longer than third measurement (P<0.05). This is the actual placement of the implant site measured on the vertical length than the length of the panorama means that there are a few more free. The first measurement was longer than 114% over the third measurement.
