  • This study is concerned with the evaluation model construction of Man-Machine System(MMS) using Transfer Function in order to improve the control characteristics of an operator in the system and the procedure for ergonomic system design, When man, as a subsystem, performs his allocated functions in a system, many physical and physiological problems such as fatigue, stress and error occur. And the imperfect design of a MMS may itself be a situational factor that accelerates stress as well as an idiosyncratic factor that causes errors. So, the economy of design should be considered together with the ergonomic characteristics on the evaluation of MMS.

  • In this paper, we propose a robust indirect adaptive fuzzy state feedback regulator based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model. The proposed adaptive fuzzy regulator is less sensitive to singularity than the conventional one based on the feedback linearization method. Furthermore, the proposed control method is applicable to not only plants with a perfect model but also plants with an imperfect model, which causes uncertainties. We verify the global stability of the proposed method by using Lyapunov method. In order to support the achievement, the application of the proposed adaptive fuzzy regulator to the control of a nonlinear system under the external disturbance is presented and the performance was verified by some simulation result.

  • Sodium niobate single crystals were grown by high temperature solution growth with Na2O/B2O3 flux. The phase transitions and domain structures of sodium niobate were observed using transmission polarizing microscope from room temperature to $650^{\circ}C$. There was imperfect extinction region within as-grown crystals and this area could be removed by heat treatment. The area existed within crystal till 3$65^{\circ}C$, in which temperature the space group of sodium niobate is changed from Pbma to Pmnm. The phase transition from Pbma to Pmnm happened abruptly with changing domain structure. At 48$0^{\circ}C$, 52$0^{\circ}C$ and 572$^{\circ}C$, the colors and walls of domains were changed. All domains disappeared and the space group of sodium niobate was changed from P4/mbm to Pm3m at 64$0^{\circ}C$. When sodium niobate changed from high temperature phase to low temperature phase, the memory effect of domain structure was not observed.

  • When the stagnation temperature increases, the specific heat does not remain constant and start to vary with this temperature. The gas is perfect, it's state equation remains always valid, except, it was called by gas calorically imperfect or gas at high temperatures. The purpose of this work is to develop a mathematical model for a normal shock wave normal at high temperature when the stagnation temperature is taken into account, less than the dissociation of the molecules as a generalisation model of perfect for constant heat specific. A study on the error given by the perfect gas model compared to our model is presented in order to find a limit of application of the perfect gas model. The application is for air.

  • In this study, we experimentally investigate the equivalent ring theory for a slightly asymmetric ring. The slightly asymmetric ring has mode pair and frequency pair due to the small asymmetry and this mode pair generates beat in vibration and sound. In this paper, a slightly asymmetric ring is modeled as the equivalent ring, i.e., the assemblage of a symmetric ring and imperfect point masses. The equivalent ring has the same mode pair condition as that of the original asymmetric ring. Effect of the additional mass attachment is investigated by the equivalent ring theory and the result is compared with those of the measurement and the finite element analysis. It is confirmed that the original ring and the equivalent ring show the same change in frequency and mode under the various additional imperfection mass conditions. The equivalent ring theory explains how the asymmetric elements influence the mode characteristics and provides useful information to tune the beat property.

  • Tolerance design has been identified as an important research area and a number of models have been proposed in the literature. This paper investigates the effect of limited capacity on tolerance design for products with nominal-the-best type (N-type) quality characteristics. The model is developed under the assumption that the reprocessed and nonreprocessed items are produced by the same manufacturing process and therefore their quality characteristics are identically and independently distributed. Profit models are constructed which involve four price/cost components; selling price, cost incurred by imperfect quality, reprocessing and quality inspection costs. Methods of finding the optimal tolerance limits are presented, and a numerical example is given. Sensitivity analyses are also performed to study the effect of a process standard deviation on this model.

  • Frost ring formed in the secondary xylem of Pinus radiata was examined using various microscopic techniques. Cell walls in a frost ring were poorly developed, lacking in the proportion of wall components. Formation of secondary cell wall was imperfect and thickness of secondary wall was varied. Cytochemical examinations provided the evidence that the synthesis of structural polysaccharides and lignin was inhibited, resulting in the malformation of secondary cell walls. Judging by the highly irregular nature of the cell wall, it appears that cellulosic/hemicellulosic framework was affected and the template for lignification by frost.

  • To elucidate the role of vir-box in the expression of the virE gene, the vir-box was modified by site-directed mutagenesis and tested for ${\beta}$-galactosidase activities. A, C, T T, A, C substitutions at -62, -63, and -65 positions, destroying the 5'-region of the vir-box and A T at position -55, destroying the 3'-region of the vir-box respectively, showed only 17% promoter activity. When the vir-box was modified to contain perfect dyad symmetry structure (DSR) by the substitutions T, G A, T at -60 an d-61 positions, ${\beta}$-glactosidase activity increased 302%. These results indicate that the 5' and 3'-region of vir-box as well as the imperfect DSR of the vir-box itself may play a very important role in the regulation of virE gene expression.

  • There are many discrepancies between visually perceived color-difference and that which is quantified from an instrumental measurement when dark color samples are measured in the textile industry. The samples were prepared to represent these dark shades and the values of the instrumental results from conventional color-difference formulae(CIELAB, CMC, BFD II, CIE94, LCD99 and CIEDE2000). Those of visual assessment were compared. The experimental results show that the CIELAB formula gives the best performance over other formulae, and the CIEDE2000 formula for the color-difference according to chroma presents the worst performance. Therefore, we can say that the problems in color matching of dark shades are caused by imperfect formula, because the results obtained from a color-difference formulae are different and the CMC which is used as a standard color-difference formula in the textile industry is not correct. So, a revised color-difference formula is proposed in this study, to account for these problems.
