  • Flyby anomaly (unexpected energy increase during Earth Gravity Assists) indicates existence of an unknown non-conservative perturbation which affects hyperbolic trajectories. This presentation focuses on first order position and velocity perturbation formulas derived in terms of classical orbital element variations for hyperbolic orbit. By using both the perturbation formulas and numerical approach, we analyze effects of hypothetical acceleration models proposed by Hasse (2009), Lewis (2009), Gerrad and Sumner (2008), and Busack (2007). Based on analysis of perturbation effect on low earth orbit, we find that typical position perturbation is about 10m which is much larger than current orbit determination accuracy. From this, we deduce that anomalous acceleration only affects hyperbolic orbit or behaves differently in bound orbit. On the other hand, based on analysis of perturbation effects on hyperbolic trajectories, we find that position and velocity perturbations are highly different from acceleration models, and all of proposed models fail to explain observed range and Doppler data. Thus, it can be concluded that not only energy variations but also kinematics gives us crucial clues on the flyby anomaly, and kinematical characteristic should be considered in modeling flyby anomaly.

  • In order to contain as much information as possible in a single image, a wide FOV(Field-Of-View) imaging system is required. The catadioptric imaging system with hyperbolic cylinder mirror can acquire over 180 degree horizontal FOV realtime panorama image by using a conventional camera. Because the hyperbolic cylinder mirror has a curved surface in horizontal axis, the original image acquired from the imaging system has the geometrical distortion, which requires the image processing algorithm for reconstruction. In this paper, the image reconstruction algorithms for two cases are studied: (1) to obtain an image with uniform angular resolution and (2) to obtain horizontally rectilinear image. The image acquisition model of the hyperbolic cylinder mirror imaging system is analyzed by the geometrical optics and the image reconstruction algorithms are proposed based on the image acquisition model. To show the validity of the proposed algorithms, experiments are carried out and presented in this paper. The experimental results show that the reconstructed images have a uniform angular resolution and a rectilinear form in horizontal axis, which are natural to human.

  • This study analyzed Secondary Mathematically Gifted' mathematical thinking processes demonstrated from the activities. They configured regular triangle tessellations in the Non-Euclidean hyperbolic disk model. The students constructed the figure and transformation to construct the tessellation in the poincare disk. gsp file which is the dynamic geometric environmen, The students were to explore the characteristics of the hyperbolic segments, construct an equilateral triangle and inversion. In this process, a variety of strategic thinking process appeared and they recognized to the Non-Euclidean geometric system.

  • The settlement prediction is very important to preloading method for a construction site on a soft ground. At the design stage, however, it is hard to predict the settlement exactly due to limitations of the site survey. Most of the settlement prediction is performed by a regression settlement curve based on the field data during a construction. In Korea, hyperbolic method has been most commonly used to align the settlement curve with the field data, because of its simplicity and many application cases. The results from hyperbolic method, however, may be differed by data selections or data fitting methods. In this study, the analyses using hyperbolic method were performed about the field data of $\bigcirc\bigcirc$ site in Pusan. Two data fitting methods, using an axis transformation or an alternative method, were applied with the various data group. If data was used only after the ground water level being stabilized, fitting results using both methods were in good agreement with the measured data. Without the information about the ground water level, the alternative method gives better results with the field data than the method using an axis transformation.

  • On compact complex hyperbolic manifolds of complex dimension two, we show that the dimension of the space of infinitesimal deformations of self-dual conformal structures is smaller than that of the deformation obstruction space and that every self-dual metric with covariantly constant Ricci tensor must be a standard one upto rescalings and diffeomorphisms.

  • We want to treat this problem for real hypersurfaces in a complex hyperbolic space $J_n(C)$. Thus it seems to be natural to consider some problems concerned with the estimation of the Ricci tensor for real hypersurfaces in $H_n(C)$. In this paper we will find a new tensorial formula concerned with the Ricci tensor and give it a characterization of horospheres and geodesic hyperspheres in a complex hyperbolic space $H_n(C)$.

  • This paper introduces an eigenvalue method of transforming the hyperbolic partial differential equations of a particular unsteady friction water hammer model into characteristic form. This method is based on the solution of the corresponding one-dimensional Riemann problem that transforms hyperbolic quasi-linear equations into ordinary differential equations along the characteristic directions, which in this case arises as the eigenvalues of the system. A mathematical justification and generalization of the eigenvalues method is provided and this approach is compared to the traditional characteristic method.

  • As a suitable application of the well known generalized maximum principle of Omori-Yau, we obtain rigidity results concerning to a complete hypersurface immersed with bounded mean curvature in the $(n+1)$-dimensional hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}$. In our approach, we explore the existence of a natural duality between $\mathbb{H}^{n+1}$ and the half $\mathcal{H}^{n+1}$ of the de Sitter space $\mathbb{S}_1^{n+1}$, which models the so-called steady state space.

  • In the present paper, we investigate the convergence, equivalence of convergence, rate of convergence and data dependence results using a three step iteration process for mappings satisfying certain contractive condition in hyperbolic spaces. Also we give nontrivial examples for the rate of convergence and data dependence results to show effciency of three step iteration process. The results obtained in this paper may be interpreted as a refinement and improvement of the previously known results.

  • We will describe a way to construct Ford domains of cusped hyperbolic 3-manifolds on maximal cusp diagrams and compute fundamental groups using face pairing maps as generators and Cannon-Floyd-Parry's edge cycles as relations. We also describe explicitly a cutting and pasting alteration to reduce the number of faces on the bottom region of Ford domains. We expect that our analysis of Ford domains will be useful on other future research.
