  • In multibody dynamics, differential and algebraic equations which can satisfy both equation of motion and kinematic constraint equation should be solved. To solve this equation, coordinate partitioning method and constraint stabilization method are commonly used. The coordinate partitioning method divides the coordinate into independent and dependent coordinates. The most typical coordinate partitioning method arc LU decomposition, QR decomposition, projection method and SVD(sigular value decomposition).The objective of this research is to find a efficient coordinate partitioning method in flexible multibody systems and a hybrid decomposition algorithm which employs both LU and projection methods is proposed. The accuracy of the solution algorithm is checked with a slider-crank mechanism.

  • Devices based on nanomaterials platforms are emerging as a powerful tool for ultrasensitive sensors for the direct detection of biological and chemical species. In this talk, we will report the preparation and the full characterization of electrochemical polymerization of biopolymers platforms and nano-structure formation for electrochemical detection of enzymatic activity and toxic compound in electrolyte for biosensor applications. Formation of an electroactive polymer film of two different compounds has been quantified by observing new redox peak at higher potentials in cyclic voltammogram measurements. RCT value of at various biopolymer concentration based hybrid films has been obtained from electrochemical impedance spectroscopy analysis and possible mechanism for formation of complexes during electrochemical polymerization on conducting substrates has been investigated. Biosensors developed based on these hybrid biopolymers have very high sensitivity.

  • In this paper, a simulator system for Fuel Cell Hybrid Electric Vehicles(FCHEV) is implemented using DSP boards with CAN bus. The subsystems of a FCHEV i.e., the fuel cell system, the battery system, the vehicle dynamics with the transmission mechanism are coded into 3 DSP boards. The power distribution control algorithm and battery SOC control are also coded into a DSP board. The real-time monitoring program is also developed to examine the control performance of power control and SOC control algorithms.

  • The major operations of Evolutionary Computation include crossover, mutation, competition and selection. Although selection does not create new individuals like crossover or mutation, a poor selection mechanism may lead to problems such as taking a long time to reach an optimal solution or even not finding it at all. In view of this, this paper proposes a hybrid Evolutionary Programming (EP) algorithm that exhibits a strong capability to move toward the global optimum even when stuck at a local minimum using a synergistic combination of the following three basic ideas. First, a "local selection" technique is used in conjunction with the normal tournament selection to help escape from a local minimum. Second, the mutation step has been improved with respect to the Fast Evolutionary Programming technique previously developed in our research group. Finally, the crossover and mutation operations of the Genetic Algorithm have been added as a parallel independent branch of the search operation of an EP to enhance search diversity.

  • Optimal design of a hybrid parallel robot is investigated. In order to optimize the mechanism, new performance measures are introduced since use of the previous methods suffer form lack of the physical meaning due to the dimensional inhomogeneity. To overcome the problem, an Euclidean norm definition of each output space with homogeneous dimension is used to find input-output norm relation and derive new performance measures for each output spaces, that is, translational and rotational velocity, and derive new torque space. For illustion,the derived performance measures is applied to find the isotropic design of a Stewart platform robot which has condition number measures equal to one.

  • Replication in distributed databases is to improve efficiency, availability, and autonomy, But applying the strict consistency in real systems is very difficult. In this paper, I introduce a hybrid protocol permitting group update through eager update propagation and weakening consistency through lazy update, This protocol manages replica version number for the group update consistency and generates partially ordered replica spanning tree for the serializability of lazy update transactions. It preserves weak consistency by combining synchronous and asynchronous update mechanism. Study of performance analysis for the efficiency of the protocol be included in next paper.

  • We have developed the power assistive leg called HAL (Hybrid Assistive Leg) which provide the walking aid for walking disorder persons or aged persons without nursing person. We developed HAL-3 by considering some problems of HAL-1,2 which had developed previously. The mechanism of HAL-3 actuator could be simplified and sophisticated by using the harmonic drive. As the control signal of HAL-3 EMG signal was used. We proposed a calibration method to identify parameters which relates the EMG to joint torque by using HAL-3.   • This paper presents a novel type of hybrid dispensing head for IC fabrication and surface mount technology. The proposed mechanism consists of solenoid valve and piezoelectric stack as actuators, and provides positive-displacement and jet dispensing. The positive-displacement dispensing can produce desired adhesive amount without viscosity effect, while the jet dispensing can produce high precision adhesive amount. In order to determine the relationship between required voltage of the piezoelectric actuator and needle displacement, both static and dynamic analysis are undertaken, In addition, finite element analysis is performed in order to find optimal design parameters. Dispensing flow rate and pressure in the chamber are evaluated through fluid dynamic model.

  • Peer-to-Peer system has emerged as a popular model aiming at further utilizing Internet information and resources, complementing the available client-server services. However, the mechanism of peers randomly choosing logical neighbors without any knowledge about underlying physical location aware topology can cause serious performance degradation. In this paper, we consider the network distance between peers so that it helps peers select neighbors located at the nearest when they exchange queries for sharing of resources. To reduce the unnecessary signaling traffic and delay of query exchange, we propose a location aware topology based Hybrid P2P system. This system calculates the network distance which combines the direct measurement such as RTT (Round Trip Time) with geographic space of peers using IP address

Interaction between HIV-1 Nef and LyF-1, the T Cell Specific Transcription Factor (T 세포 특이적 전사인자인 LyF-1과 HIV-1 Nef의 상호 작용)

  • Nef is a lentiviral protein involved in pathogenesis of AIDS, but its molecular mechanism of action remains incompletely understood. Here we report the isolation of the interacting protein with the HIV-1 Nef, using the yeast two hybrid system for expression cloning. One of the positive colonies was selected as the final candidate for the interacting protein gene. The nucleotide sequencing revealed that this interacting protein is Human Ikaros/LyF-1. This protein interacted with the C-terminal region of Nef specifically in yeast system, not with the N-terminal region. This interaction was also confirmed by in vitro binding assay.
