  • Expert system is a practical application part of the artificial intelligence and can be generally described as a computer-based system designed to simulate the knowledge and reasoning of a human expert, and to make that knowledge conveniently available to other people in a useful way. Expert systems consist of three major components, knowledge base, inference engine and user interface. In this paper, it is aimed to construct a prototype system to design the horizontal-typed pressure vessel. To do this, a representative artificial programming language, Turbo Prolog, was employed, and the knowledge representation was mainly done by the production rule such as "If(condition), than (action)" style and by the predicate logic. In the developed system, it was quite easy to represent the knowledge of "If(condition), then (action)"style and by the predicate logic. Wind Load Combinations Including Torsion for Rectangular Medium-rise Buildings

  • This paper presents the results of a set of wind tunnel tests carried out to examine wind-induced overall structural loads on rectangular medium-rise buildings. Emphasis was directed towards torsion and its correlation with peak shear forces in transverse and longitudinal directions. Two building models with the same horizontal dimensions but different gabled-roof angles ($0^{\circ}C$ and $45^{\circ}C$) were tested at different full-scale equivalent eave heights (20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 m) in open terrain exposure for all wind directions (every $15^{\circ}C$). Wind-induced pressures were integrated over building surfaces and results were obtained for along-wind force, across-wind force, and torsional moment. Maximum wind force component was given along with the other simultaneously-observed wind force components normalized by the overall peak. The study found that for flat-roofed buildings maximum torsion for winds in transverse direction is associated with 80% of the overall shear force perpendicular to the longer horizontal building dimension; and 45% of the maximum shear occurs perpendicular to the smaller horizontal building dimension. Comparison of the wind tunnel results with current torsion provisions in the American wind standard, the Canadian and European wind codes demonstrate significant discrepancies. Suggested load combination factors were introduced aiming at an adequate evaluation of wind load effects on rectangular medium-rise buildings.

안모의 수직고경에 영향을 미치는 교정적 요인에 관한 연구 (Evaluation of factors influencing the change of vertical dimension fo face after orthodontic treatment)

  • 전통적 교정술식인 edgewise technique으로 치료한 경우 잔여성장, 안모 유형과 발치 여부가 안모고경에 미치는 영향과 요소를 알아보고자 165명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 이 대상군들은 SN-GoGn angle, Frankfort mandibular plane angle, Occluso-mandibular plane angle을 이용하여 수직 비발치군, 수직 발치군, 수평 비발치군, 수평 발치군으로 구분하였다. 치료 전후에 두부계측방사선사진을 계측하고 통계처리하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1.모든 군에서 치료 후의 전하안모고경, 전안모고경, 후안모고경이 유의하게 증가하였으며 상하악 구치고경이 유의하게 증가하였다. 2. 치료 전후의 안모고경 변화에서 수직, 수평 안모 유형 간에 유의한 차이는 인정되지 않았다. 3. 발치군과 비발치군 간의 안모고경 변화는 유의한 차가 없었다. 4. 전하안모고경의 변화량이 성장군에서 상악 구치고경의 변화와, 성인군에서 하악 구치고경의 변화와 유의한 상관성을 보였다. 5. 전하안모고경의 변화량에 영향을 미치는 요소는 뚜렷하지 않았다.

  • This experiment was made to find the peripheral variations of annualring widths, the cell dimensions, microfibril angles and bulk densities within each annual-ring of horizontal-growing young tree of beech(Betul a platyphylla var. japonica) and Oak (Quercus variabilis) from the tension to the opposite side. Also a comparision between the features of the obnormal annual ring for horizontal-growing year and normal annual ring for the straight-growing years was made. The dimension of propotion of the element, the microfibril angles and the bulk density decreased or increased continuously toward opposite side which showed minimum or maximum value. The dimension of elements the microfibril angles and the bulk density decreased or increased continuously towards opposite side which showed minimum or maximum value. The dimension of elements. the microfibril angles and the bulk density in the normal annual rings were similar to those in the lateral woods. whereas were significantly more different in the tension wood than in the opposite wood. The features of typical opposite wood in the hardwoods were influenced by the locations within the inclined stems than effects of the decrease in the annual ring width. The oppostie woods in hardwoods did not conform to the tension wood and lateral wood. The abnormal annual ring included the opposite wood, lateral wood similar to normal wood and tension wood having specialized structure even in the same annual ring.

  • The morphology and growth changes of the Craniofacial Complex are important in orthodontics and cephalometrics for analysis and evaluation of facial bone growth are widely used. The author analyzed the data using lateral cephalometric roentgenogram of 75 Korean male and 50 Korean females age of 6 to 10 with normal occlusion to provide informations-relative rates of facial bone growth of Korean which is to be contributed in Korean standard. The results were as follows: 1. Means, standard deviation and coefficient of variation of Korean children were obtained. 2. The item which showed significent difference between male and female was craniofacial height in absolute dimension. 9. No difference of sex was showed in increment of craniofacial height and depth. 4. Among the craniofacial depth increments, the lower facial depth dimension increased most, midfacial depth dimension increased less, and cranial depth dimension increased the least. 5. The horizontal body of mandible showed rapid growing tendency more than did the ascending ramus.

  • For efficient massive image retrieval, an image retrieval requires that several important objectives are satisfied, namely: automated extraction of features, efficient indexing and effective retrieval. In this work, we present a technique for extracting the 4-dimension directional feature. By directional detail, we imply strong directional activity in the horizontal, vertical and diagonal direction present in region of the image texture. This directional information also present smoothness of region. The 4-dimension feature is only indexed in the 4-D space so that complex high-dimensional indexing can be avoided.

진화론적 방법을 활용한 영성 개념분석 (Evolutionary Concept Analysis of Spirituality)

  • Purpose: This study was done to clarify attributes, antecedents, and consequences of spirituality. Methods: Rodgers's evolutionary concept analysis was used to analyze fifty seven studies from the literature related to spirituality as it appears in systematic literature reviews of theology, medicine, counseling & psychology, social welfare, and nursing. Results: Spirituality was found to consist of two dimensions and eight attributes: 1) vertical dimension: 'intimacy and connectedness with God' and 'holy life and belief', 2) horizontal dimension: 'self-transcendence', 'meaning and purpose in life', 'self-integration', and 'self-creativity' in relationship with self, 'connectedness' and 'trust' in relationship with others neighbors nature. Antecedents of spirituality were socio-demographic, religious, psychological, and health related characteristics. Consequences of spirituality were positive and negative. Being positive included 'life centered on God' in vertical dimension, and among horizontal dimension 'joy', 'hope', 'wellness', 'inner peace', and 'self-actualization' in relationship with self, 'doing in love' and 'extended life toward neighbors and the world' in relationship with others neighbors nature. Being negative was defined as having 'guilt', 'inner conflict', 'loneliness', and 'spiritual distress'. Facilitators of spirituality were stressful life events and experiences. Conclusion: Spirituality is a multidimensional concept. Unchangeable attributes of spirituality are 'connectedness with God', 'self-transcendence', 'meaning of life' and 'connectedness with others nature'. Unchangeable consequences of spirituality are 'joy' and 'hope'. The findings suggest that the dimensional framework of spirituality can be used to assess the current spiritual state of patients. Based on these results, the development of a Korean version of the scale measuring spirituality is recommended.

Effect of slice inclination and object position within the field of view on the measurement accuracy of potential implant sites on cone-beam computed tomography

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of linear measurements in the horizontal and vertical dimensions based on object position and slice inclination in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. Materials and Methods: Ten dry sheep hemi-mandibles, each with 4 sites (incisor, canine, premolar, and molar), were evaluated when either centrally or peripherally positioned within the field of view (FOV) with the image slices subjected to either oblique or orthogonal inclinations. Four types of images were created of each region: central/cross-sectional, central/coronal, peripheral/cross-sectional, and peripheral/coronal. The horizontal and vertical dimensions were measured for each region of each image type. Direct measurements of each region were obtained using a digital caliper in both horizontal and vertical dimensions. CBCT and direct measurements were compared using the Bland-Altman plot method. P values <0.05 were considered to indicate statistical significance. Results: The buccolingual dimension of the incisor and premolar areas and the height of the incisor, canine, and molar areas showed statistically significant differences on the peripheral/coronal images compared to the direct measurements (P<0.05). Molar area height in the central/coronal slices also differed significantly from the direct measurements (P<0.05). Cross-sectional images of either the central or peripheral position had no marked difference from the gold-standard values, indicating sufficient accuracy. Conclusion: Peripheral object positioning within the FOV in combination with applying an orthogonal inclination to the slices resulted in significant inaccuracies in the horizontal and vertical measurements. The most undesirable effect was observed in the molar area and the vertical dimension.

  • 온라인 분석 처리(OLAP, On-Line Analytical Processing)에서는 다양한 분석을 효과적으로 처리하기 위해, 다차원 구조의 데이타를 열에 차원 애트리뷰트의 값이 표시되는 넓은 형태의 수평 테이블로 표현한다. 관계형 테이블들은 보통 애트리뷰트의 개수에 제한이 있으므로 이러한 수평 테이블을 직접저장하기 어렵고, 저장하더라도 많은 수의 널(null) 간을 갖는 희박(sparse) 테이블이 되기 쉽다. 따라서 관계 데이타베이스에서는 이러한 수평 테이블을 차원의 이름을 열로 갖는 수직 테이블로 바꾸어 저장할 수 있다. 이렇게 할 경우, 수평 뷰 테이블에 대한 OLAP 질의를 저장된 수직 테이블에 대한 질의로 변환하는 작업이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 전통적인 관계 대수 연산자들 외에 최근 DBMS 버전들이 제공하는 PIVOT 연산자를 사용하여 수평적인 뷰의 질의를 효율적으로 변환하는 방법을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 PIVOT 연산과 동등한 관계 대수식을 만들고 이를 증명하였으며, 이 PIVOT 연산을 사용하여 수평적인 테이블에 대한 질의를 수직적인 테이블에 대한 질의로 변환하는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한 실험을 통해 제안한 변환 방법이 기존 방법에 비해 성능이 더욱 우수함을 보였다.

  • This study is aimed to compare individualism and collectivism propensity of married immigrant women in a Korean rural area. By result of comparison on nationality, the level of collectivism was higher than it of individualism in every country, but the level of collectivism among the countries was no significant difference. The level of individualism among the countries was difference significantly, and the level of individualism of Chinese is most high but it of Japanese is most low. By logistic regression analysis the probability to be involved in the group that level of individualism is high was heightened as respondent have no religion or their's satisfaction on rural life increase. The level of horizontal propensity was higher than it of vertical propensity both individualism and collectivism. But the result of comparison on nationality, difference between horizontal and vertical propensity was no significant. Besides of these results, practical implications were discussed.
