Objective: The aim of this study was to compare gait patterns of elementary school male students in higher grades according to their character styles. Method: 4 extroverted character male subjects (height: $141.35{\pm}7.75cm$, weight: $43.65{\pm}5.80kg$) and 4 introverted character male subjects (height: $145.38{\pm}8.94cm$, weight: $42.15{\pm}10.71kg$) participated in this study. Results: As for walk styles of elementary school male students in higher grades according to their character patterns, there was not significant differences in gait cycle, stride width, stride length and walking speed. According to examination of average ratio of maximum vertical ground reaction force according to their characters divided by weight, elementary school male students in higher grades with extroverted character showed 114.69% of weight and students with introverted character showed 122.82% of weight, which exhibited that students with introverted character had larger ratio as much as 8.13% than students with extroverted character. The statistical significance level was 0.000 showing significant difference. Conclusion: Our results indicated that male students in higher grades with introverted character press ground hard and walk with strong steps. On the other hand, male students with extroverted character walk with light steps.

The results from this study were summarized below: 1. On the basis of targeting the lower grades (1st- 3th year) and the higher grades (4th-6th year) elementary school students' sexuality education guidebooks published by Korea Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development, 71 preliminary items targeting the lower grades, 90 preliminary items targeting the higher grades were developed. 2. Through the validity test about the contents of the preliminary items three times, the items were regulated to 65 items targeting the lower grads and 57 items targeting the higher grades. And then, the preliminary items were re-regulated to 40 items separately. Then, pre-test which targeting each 30 students was enforced. 3.Finally, the evaluation tools for sexuality education that consisted of 40 items targeting the lower grades and the higher grades were developed. 4. eliability test of the developed tools, sexuality education evaluation tools showed alpha coefficient of internal consistency were 0.8355 (for the use of the lower grades) and 0.8881 (for the use of the higher grades). 5. o apply the developed sexuality education evaluation tools, 10-times sexuality education were carried out class unit and pre-post test were done using same questionnaire, which contains developed tool, there were significant difference in low grade (t=16.548, p=0.000), high grade (t=14.773, p=0.000). The results of this study suggest that the evaluation tool for sexuality education in elementary school may be a useful tool with a high degree of reliability and validity. In this sense, the evaluation tool for sexuality education developed by this study can be effectively utilized in Korea elementary schools.
Purpose: This study evaluated the effectiveness of safety education programs for students in higher grades of elementary school. Methods: This study involved a test group and a control group, each consisting of 214 students in higher grades of elementary school. These students were subjected to before and after simulation tests conducted between September 9 and October 22, 2004. Results: We predict that the test group who received safety education training will possess a greater knowledge about safety and will conduct themselves in a relatively safer manner relative tothe control group that did not receive safety education training. Conclusion: The above results implicate the importance of a continuous and systematic safety education program and demonstrate the ability of such programs to encourage safe conduct among elementary school children.
Due to the fast changing social and physical environment, the clothing behaviour of elementary school students should have been changed. Since previous research was completed a long time ago, new research must be conducted to understand the relationships of the clothing behaviour of elementary school students in terms of the time of research, gender and grades. Third and sixth grades in Susan were sampled in 2002; the secondary data in 1988 was used. Factor analysis and Lisrel's group analysis were conducted. The results indicated as follows: 1. As there was an increased interest in clothes, the comfort of the clothes was decreased at the higher grades in 1988, and the low and high grades in 2002, and the clothes of boys in high grade increased in the manageability in 2002, but nor with boy students in the low grade neither all types of students in 1988. 2. As there was an increased manageability in clothes, all types of girl students became more independence in choosing their own clothes. However, boy students in the low and high grades only increased their independence in choosing their own clothes in 1988. 3. As there was an increased comfort of clothes, there was not a significant relationship with the independence of students for choosing their clothes concerning the gender, the grades and the period of research. 4. As there was an increased interest in clothes, the low grade girl and boy students in 1988 increased in their independence in choosing their clothes. However, the high grade boy students in 1988 significantly decreased their independence. Thus there are different results in the clothing behavior in the elementary school student concerning the time of study, gender and grades.
The purpose of this study was to examine dietary attitudes of students and changes in their attitudes toward the school lunch service. The participants of the study were 483 students ranging from third grade elementary school students to middle school sophomores living in the Seoguipo area of Jeju Island. The subjects were asked to complete questionnaires under the supervision of their teachers or dietitians, and data were grouped into elementary school 3rd and 4th grades, elementary school 5th and 6th grades; and middle school 1st and 2nd grades for each gender. There were no significant differences among the groups with respect to their regularity of food intake, dietary considerations, or the frequency of imbalance in their diets. In the case of female participants, their frequency of snacking decreased as their grade level increased. In general, the overall changes in dietary attitudes became more negative as their grade level increased. Male students demanded increased serving sizes of both staple food and side dishes, while female students demanded increased serving sizes dishes, but not staple food as their grade levels increased. there was also an increase in the number of student sin higher grades who discarded or did not eat enough their entire meals. The major reasons for not eating the food were : no taste to the food and not proper saltiness of food. These results may suggest that school dietitians need to pay more attention to increased taste and proper seasoning of meals. Students suggested that the school lunch service should be continued, but that it needs improvement. Students in higher grades were more aware of the importance of the environment in which the meal was provided. Also, an early education in nutrition and healthy diets seemed important in preparing them for following a healthy lifestyle in later life.
This study analyzed the clothing color preferences of elementary students and the colors of clothes actually worn at school in terms of hue and tone. The sample consisted of 385 students enrolled at a public elementary school in Seoul. In this study, 120 color cards were used to guide the hue and tone. Descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis were used to analyze the data. The results were as follows. First, the most preferred clothing colors were achromatic, purple blue, red, and blue, while the most preferred tones were vivid, and pale. Second, the largest percentage of top colors worn at school were achromatic and vivid tones, while the largest percentage of bottom colors at school were achromatic and dark tones. Third, elementary boys preferred vivid and strong tones, while girls preferred pale and vivid tones. Fourth, students at higher grades preferred deeper and darker tones compared with students in lower grades.
This study was about to investigate the characteristics of elementary school students' feet growth, comparing and analyzed the measured values and the index values of 3D scan data. As the results from analyzing the measured values, the all measurement items excluding 'Toe 5 angle' showed some significant differences among the age classes, knowing that the elementary school students' feet were continually grown. Although, the items of length, thickness, width, height and circumference indicate some rapid growth of feet at 11 years old, but it appears slowing growth of 'Foot width' after the age of 11 years old. The angle item didn't show any sequential differences according to ages. As the results from analyzing the index values, the children in higher grades have longer 'Toe 5', thicker ankles, wider and thicker the superior part of feet than the children in lower grades. For the superior and the middle part of feet were lowly raised, their Arch height was low and thick. The inferior part of feet showed narrow width and higher height. Giving that the Medial ball width was wide and the Toe 1 angle is high for the children in higher grades, it is expected that the Metatarsophalangeal I might be more projected than that of children in lower grades. Likewise, knowing that the male students' feet shape was bigger than female students' feet from the result that the male students' index values were higher.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relation between personality traits and awareness of gender equality. Method: A descriptive survey design was used and 688 students in fifth and sixth grades in 3 elementary schools were selected as participants. Result: 1. Level of gender equality awareness among the students was 2.82. This is higher than average and was most influenced by awareness of family life, followed by awareness in education, work environment and social-cultural life. 2. Students with higher levels of extraversion-introversion had higher levels of awareness of gender equality in family life, work environment, and education. Students with higher levels of tough-mindedness showed lower levels of gender equality awareness in family life and work environment, while those with higher levels of lying showed lower levels of gender equality awareness in social-cultural life. Conclusion: Personality traits and awareness of gender equality were correlated to some degree. However, in order to understand the characteristics of childhood personality traits and the behaviors of our children though the mediation of the gender equality awareness as society changes, and to let them grow with understanding of gender equality, it is essential to implement various kinds of education in families, schools, and the society.
This study is conducted in grades 4, 5, and6 of Elementary schools located in Seoul. The results would be recognized by the Consumer Behavior Survey and the Use of Beauty. Students in the higher grades of elementary schools are exposed to beauty products for the first time. This is a crucial age, where they start becoming interested in their appearance. This behavior is being exploited to increase the desire to use beauty products. Although the initial use is self-motivated, choosing a quality product is highly influenced by peers, reasonable pricing, and internet impact. The higher the grade of the elementary school, we observed an increase in this trust and impulsiveness in the consumer behavior. More than 2 million students spent considerable amounts of money, and showed trends of consumer behavior of the impulsive type. The results of this study can provide a significant base to further study trends of beauty usage in higher grades of elementary schools, and give an indication of the consumer behavior based on the beauty culture and use of health products.
