Noise Properties of Directly-coupled Single-layer High-Tc 2nd-order SQUID Gradiometer

  • We have fabricated planar-type single-layer second-order high-Tc SQUID gradiometers. The devices consisted of symmetrically designed three parallel-connected square pickup loops that were directly coupled to the SQUID. $YBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{7}$ film was deposited on $SrTiO_3$ substrate by a PLD system and patterned into a device by the photolithography with ion milling technique. Junctions of the SQUID were either step-edge or bicrystal type. All the structures were formed on a 10 mm $\times$ 5 mm substrate. Balancing of the gradiometer was achieved by adjusting the width of the central pickup loop. The gradiometer noise was measured both inside and outside a magnetically shielded room. Details of the results will be discussed.

  • High-Tc superconducting(HT S) systems are commercialized by many study on high-Tc superconductor. For the successful commercialization of superconducting systems using Bi-2223 wires, the database on the degradation of critical current is essentially needed. In this paper, critical current variation of Bi-2223 wires according to the transport time was investigated. The degradation rate of critical current was also calculated. Solenoid type specimens have the length of 190cm Bi-2223 wire and double-pancake type specimens have the length of l0m wire were tested. Tested Bi-2223 wires are commercialized products of AMSC (American Superconductor) and Innost. When the transportation current was 95% of critical current, the degradation of critical current was appeared after 5 hours of transport time.

  • Persistent Current Switch (PCS) is used in many superconducting magnet system. To apply the high-Tc superconductor in superconducting machine such as motor, generator, MAGLEV, MRI and NMR, the study on the persistent current mode should be performed. Because persistent current mode provide best stability and homogeneous characteristics to the superconducting machine. To stabilize the superconductor system, it is important to estimate the length of PCS. If the proper length of PCS is too short, it cause serious injury to system in fault state. So we calculated the optimal length of PCS in this paper.

  • We have fabricated superconducting ceramics by chemical process. A high Tc superconducting with a nominal composition of YBaCuO was prepared by the pyrolysis method. The electromagnetic properties in YBaCuO superconductor was studied. In the measurement of current-voltage characteristics, a voltage across the superconducting sample was observed on applying an external magnetic field. The voltage increases with increase in applied magnetic flux, but it becomes constant at about 10$^{-2}$T. The voltage continues to appear the removal of the magnetic field. The appearance of the voltage is ascribed to the trapping of magnetic flux. Depending on the direction of applied magnetic flux less than 2.5$\times$10$^{-5}$ T, the voltage in the magnetized sample increases or decreases.

  • This paper deals with the fabrication and characteristic experiment of a high-Tc superconducting (HTSC) power supply using by Hi-2223 tape. The purpose of this research is to apply real HTSC load. This system consists of two heaters, an electromagnet, a Bi-2223 solenoid and a Bi-2223 pancake load. In the experiment, 17sec and 8.5sec were used for pumping period. Mechanism of the superconducting switch is used for heater-trigger. In experiment, the pumping-current has reached about 1.2A.

  • We have fabricated superconductor ceramics by chemical process. A high Tc superconductor with a nominal composition of $Bi_2Sr_2Ca_2Cu_3O_y$ was prepared by the organic metal salts method. Experimental results suggest that the intermediate phase formed before the formation of the superconductor phase may be the most important factor. The relation between electromagnetic properties of Bi HTS and external applied magnetic field was studied. The electrical resistance of the superconductor was increased by the application of the external magnetic field. But the increase in the electrical resistance continues even after the removal of the magnetic field. The reason is as follows; the magnetic flux due to the external magnetic field penetrates through the superconductor and the penetrated magnetic flux is trapped after the removal of the magnetic flux.

고집적화된 1TC SONOS 플래시 메모리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the High Integrated 1TC SONOS flash Memory)

  • To realize a high integrated flash memory utilizing SONOS memory devices, the NOR type ITC(one Transistor Cell) SONOS flash arrays are fabricated and characterized. This SONOS flash arrays with the common source lines are designed and fabricated by conventional 0.35$\mu\textrm{m}$ CMOS process. The thickness of ONO for memory cells is tunnel oxide of 34${\AA}$, nitride of 73${\AA}$ and blocking oxide of 34${\AA}$ . To investigate operating characteristics, CHEI(Channel Hot Electron Injection) method and bit line method are selected as the program and 4he erase operation, respectively. The disturbance characteristics ,according to the program/erase/read cycling are also examined. The degradation characteristics are investigated and then the reliability of SONOS flash memory is guaranteed.

  • 미국의 ASC(American Superconductor Corp.)에서는 산화물계의 고온초전도선재를 대량생산하기 위한 대규모 투자를 계획하고 있으며 지금은 금속계 초전도선재처럼 장척의 고온초전도선재도 구매할 수 있는 시대로 접어들고 있다. 고온초전도체 벌크 및 박막의 경우도 새로운 프로세스들이 계속 시도되고 최적화 연구가 성과를 거두면서 고성능, 고품질의 재료들이 제조되고 있고 이것들을 이용한 상용화 연구개발이 미국, 일본을 중심으로 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 최근 5년간의 고온초전도 분야에 대한 미국 연방정부의 연구비 투자 상황을 살펴보면 계속 증가추세에 있으며 벤처 비지니스의 민간기업들이 고온초전도체를 상용화하기 위한 많은 투자와 노력을 하고 있다. 고온초전도체는 그 사용 용도에 따라 벌크, 박막, 선재 등 다양한 형태로 만들어지고 있다. 본 고에서는 고온초전도체의 여러 연구분야 중 이론, 물성보다는 주로 응용기술적인 차원에서 재료 형태별로 최근의 연구개발 동향을 살펴보고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we investigated transient fault currents in a magnetic coupling High-Tc superconducting current limiter(HCL). It has an important effect on the reliability and stability of the power system. In order to analyze transient fault characteristics of HCL, we fabricated a magnetic coupling HCL and tested it in different fault conditions. An important parameter of design and manufacture which makes HCL inherently reliable is reduction of inrush fault currents. Without inrush fault currents, the currents flowing under such conditions can be limited to a desired-value within one cycle. Inrush fault current depends on saturation, normal spot propagation velocity, turns ratio and the fault angle.

  • Inductive high-Tc superconducting fault current limiter using YBCO superconducting ring in the secondary part has many advantages in power networks. It is based on the superconducting to normal transition and this paper describes its operational characteristics and experimental results, especially focused on the harmonic component analysis and recovery time. We fabricated and tested it under various conditions for the analysis of transient fault characteristics. And for the analysis of harmonics we used FFT methods. The superconducting ring was quenched in 240Arms and fault current was effectively limited to the lower current level. In addition, it was fast recovered when the fault condition was removed and after fault the system had odd harmonics.
