The purpose of the study is to examine the differences between rural and urban in the factors and the level of stress in adolescent, inner control and communication with parents. Also, It is to research the influence of environmental variables, inner control and communication with parents on adolescent's stress in sides of rural and urban. Therefore, I provide needed data in instructing students. For the data set, academic high school students in second grade in a town for rural and Su-Seung gu, Dal-Sugu, chung gu in Dae-gu for urban were chosen. The data were analyzed with the frequency, percentage, factor analysis Mean, S.D, reliability, t-test, regression in use of Spss PC+ Program. The main results are as follow. First, for rural students, stress level is displayed studies, future0affair, life-attitude, companions, self-assurance and home life in order by lower sphere. For urban students, it is displayed future-affair, studies, life-attitude, companions, self-assurance and home life in order by lower shpere. In case of rural "I don't know effective study method" is highly displayed by factors. In case of urban. "I am tired of a competitive life" is highly displayed. The mean of stress level is 3.22 for rural and 3.07 for urban. The differences between rural and urban are showed in self-assurance, studies and companions. Finally when we see the stress generally the stress level is higher in rural high school students than in urban high school students. Second, rural students are lower displayed than urban students in inner control and communication with parents. There is no difference urban students in inner control and communication with parents. There is no difference in communication with a mother. third, influential variables on stress level are inner control, communication with parents, satisfaction with companions and school life as environmental variables in sides of rural and urban. Physical condition is added for rural and sex for urban Finally we get the result that stress level is high in low inner control, poor communication with parents, bad companions and unsatisfied school life for both rural and urban. Bad physical condition for rural and female for urban are added.
This study of purpose was to define the relationship between the stress and climacteric symptoms of middle-aged women in order to provide basic data for the development of women's health care program as nursing intervention. The research tools used were a Soon-Young Park's stress questionnaire (4 points scale) and a self diagnostic MENSI scale (3 points scale) developed by a research team of Ill-Yang Pharmacy Co. This research was conducted in Korea in Muan-Gun. Chonnam province, from 22th November to 20th December 1999. The research used a survey design. Seven hundred eleven healthy middle-aged women, aged 40 to 64, and were a convenience sample by stratified ratio using the matching fixed residential and aging blocks. The data were analyzed by GLM. Pearson correlation coefficient and Scheffe test using SAS/ PC+. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The percentage of psychological stress with the following items was: fatigue and enervation, 70.0%; nervous, 61.8%; weakness, 58.5%; The percentage of physical stress with the following items were ; fatigue of eye. 82.3%; backache, 78.0%; headache, 73.8%. 2. The level of psychological stress was 40% of below average level (0-5 points), 31.7 of average level (6-12points), 20.8% of precaution level (13-19 points), and 7.5% of warning level (over 20points). The level of physical stress were 20.1% of below average level (0-5 points), 34.8 of average level (6-12 points), 29.4 of precaution level (13-19 points), and 15.7% of warning level (over 20 points). There were higher physical stress level than psychological stress level of the subjects. 3. The percentage of climacteric symptoms with the following items were : numbness, 75.3%; forgetfulness, 71.0%; pain of joints, 71.0%. The level of climacteric symptoms were 61.8% of mild level 1(10-15 points), 33.0% of moderate level (16-30 points), 5.2% of severe level (over 31 points). 4. There were high positive correlations significantly between the climacteric symptoms and the psychological stress (r=.564. P<0.000), and between the climacteric symptoms and the physical stress of the subjects(r=.678, P<0.000). 5. There were significant differences in the climacteric symptoms of the subjects among below average level, average level, precaution level, and warning level of the psychological stress (F=74.108. P<0.000. Scheffe test). 6. There were significant differences in the climacteric symptoms of the subjects among below average level, average level and precaution level, and warning level of the physical stress ((F=128.181, P<0.000, Scheffe test). In summary, climacteric symptoms complained by middle-aged women are high positive correlated to the level of the stress. Also climacteric symptoms were affected by stress.
Air traffic controllers often experience fatigue and stress on the job due to work-related factors. Performance impairment resulting from fatigue and stress is an important concern for aviation safety. The goal of this research was to investigate fatigue and stress factors for air traffic controllers. The research involved an extensive literature review of fatigue and stress in the air traffic control environment and surveyed fatigue and job stress level of Korean air traffic controllers compared to other occupation groups. Results of survey showed that fatigue and stress levels of air traffic controllers were significantly higher than other occupation groups. Specially air traffic controllers reported that night work created high level of fatigue and perceived that physical environment and job demand induced high level of stress. In addition, implications for fatigue and stress management were discussed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate how much students stress have, how they cope with this stress, differences between problem behaviors and personality changes based on stress, and stress differing levels when coping with the situation either actively or passively The hypotheses were stated as follows. 1. There will be differences between problem behaviors and personality problems based on sex. 2 There will be differences between problem behaviors and personality problems based on grade. 3. There will be differences between problem behaviors and personality problems based on stress level. 4. There will be differences between problem behaviors and personality problems based on a student's ability to cope with stress. 5. Upper level students under lower stress and lower level students under higher stress will have more problems behaviors and more personality problems. 300 male/female high school students throughout the Seoul area were randomly selected. Of the 300 subjects that were sampled, 294 (Male=145, Female=149) actually participated in this study. The Stress Scale developed by Lazarus & Folkman (1984) Problem Behavior Scale, Personality Problem Scale, and Checklist were used and the conclusions are stated as follows. First, male students have more anti-social behavior and higher anti-social tendencies than female students and female students have more self-depreciation than male students. Second, upper level students have more anti-social behavior, self-ego, fabrication, and higher personality problems than lower level students. Third, students having too much stress have more anti-social behavior, self-ego, and fabrication and personality problems than students having less stress. Fourth, students coping with stress actively showed less self-ego and fabrication and less thought disturbance, anti-social tendencies, and self-depreciation than students coping with stress passively. Finally, upper level students under lower stress and lower level students under higher stress have more fabrication behaviors and more thought disturbance and self-depreciation.
Objectives: This study was conducted to analyze the stress level of teachers and their management measures, the school environments affecting on the characteristics of teachers and how the health status of school teachers have effect on the stress level of school teachers in our nation. Methods: The study conducted to 900 high school teachers in Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Kwangju and Daejeon. The investigation was carried out for 5 months from March 10 to July 10, 2007. Results: The stress level of test subjects was $15.55{\pm}3.14$ in 30 point scale (51.8 in 100 point scale). The overall level scored 3.71 in 8 point scale (46.4 in 100 point scale), and the average of stress management methods was 15.51 in 36 point scale (55.8 in 100 point scale). Therefore, stress management methods should be developed to solve stress and to reduce the causes of stress variables of high school teachers to teach students healthily in good health status without stress, which can allow us to have healthy families and society though the ripple effects. In addition, the related governments, organizations, related experts and teachers should take effort by paying more attention to increase the life quality of teachers to enjoy healthy life.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of academic stress and self-control ability on temporomandibular disorder (TMD) of adolescents. Methods: Participants were 1,112 teenagers who were 1st grade students of middle and high school. After checking their academic stress and self-control ability through a self-administrated questionnaire, the students were examined their TMD by two trained dentists. We drew a comparison the level of their academic stress and self-control ability between the students with and without TMD. We divided them to four groups according to the level of academic stress and self-control. And we checked prevalence of TMD in each level. Results: The group of students with TMD was higher academic stress score level than the students without TMD (p<0.05). And they had lower self-control score level than the students without TMD (p<0.05). Even if they were under the same academic stress, the group of students with higher self-control score was less TMD prevalence than the students with lower score. Conclusions: Academic stress makes adolescents to increase TMD and high ability of self-control makes them to decrease it. And these tendencies are seemed to have a great influence on young male student.

This paper presents a study investigating the relationship between stress level and reworks for construction professionals. As employees' work-life balance (WLB) becomes more important nowadays, controlling the level of stress in the workplace becomes more important as occupational stress has negative impacts on WLB. Reworks can be one severe occupational stressor as people suffer from stress when they need to redo their works. This study hypothesizes that there is a positive correlation between reworks and level of stress, meaning that people tend to show high level of stress when they need to redo their works. The hypothesis will be tested by checking the stress level when engineers redo their works because of changes or errors. An electroencephalography (EEG) sensor will be used to measure the stress level of engineers when they redo their works. For more accurate measure of stress, the stress level will also be measured by the galvanic skin response (GSR). This experiment is expected to prove that rework process is a severe stressor for construction professionals, which will contribute to lower productivity and poorer WLB. The finding will emphasize the importance of managing reworks in the construction industry, which will eventually help construction managers to control the level of employees' stress successfully.
In rocky intertidal habitats, abiotic stress due to desiccation and thermal extremes increases with elevation because of tides. A study in Atlantic Canada showed that, at low elevations where conditions are benign due to the brief low tides, fucoid algal canopies (Ascophyllum nodosum and Fucus spp.) do not affect the structure of benthic communities. However, at middle and high elevations, where low tides last longer, fucoid canopies limit abiotic extremes and increase the richness (number of invertebrate and algal species, except fucoids) of benthic communities. Using the data from that study, this paper compares the intensity of facilitation and its importance (relative to all other sources of variation in richness) between middle and high elevations, which represent intermediate and high stress, respectively. Facilitation intensity was calculated as the percent increase in benthic richness between quadrats with low and high canopy cover, while the importance of facilitation was calculated as the percentage of variation in richness explained by canopy cover. Data for 689 quadrats spanning 350 km of coastline were used. Both the intensity and importance of facilitation were greater at middle elevations than at high elevations. As canopies do not affect benthic communities at low elevations, this study suggests that the facilitation-stress relationship at the community level is unimodal for this marine system. Such a pattern was found for some terrestrial systems dominated by canopy-forming plants. Thus, it might be ubiquitous in nature and, as further studies refine it, it might help to predict community-level facilitation depending on environmental stress.
The purpose of this study is to understand the relationship between female college students' stress level and premenstrual syndrome so that it can provide baseline data on how to cope with the syndrome. The study subjects are 250 female college students in Gyungbook area. This study chose 199 appropriate subjects and collected data. As per general menstrual phases, this study investigated the age when one had her first period, regularity and duration of period, and amount of bleeding. It used a measurement tool to measure stress level and premenstrual syndrome. Most of the subjects experienced their first period before the age of 13. The menstrual period was irregular with the duration of less than 7 days. 123 subjects had normal amount of bleeding. 121 subjects were experiencing high level of stress over 2.4. The correlation between the level of stress and premenstrual syndrome factors showed significant static correlation for each factor. Especially, the correlation between digestive system and response of autonomic nervous system was .996 and negative emotion and behavioral change was .635, and negative emotion and pain was .614 which were relatively high. The regression analysis of factors of premenstrual syndrome depending on the subjects' stress level indicated that response of autonomic nervous system had the biggest effect in the low stress group while behavioral change, negative emotion, pain, decreased concentration, water congestion, response of autonomic nervous system, and skin change had the biggest effect in the high stress group with statistical significance. Based on the result, it can be said that higher premenstrual stress is closely related to the premenstrual syndrome one experiences for some female college students.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the level of subjective stress recognition and oral symptom experiences including toothache, gum diseases, and oral soft tissue diseases in the Korean adolescents. Methods: The subjects were 68,043 adolescents recruited using a web-based survey, National Korean Youth Risk Behavior in 2015 by the Korean Center for Disease Control. For statistical analysis, SPSS 21.0 for Windows was used. Descriptive analysis and a Chi-square test were conducted to determine the factors associated with general characteristics, health behaviors, oral health behaviors, and level of subjective stress recognition. Finally, to investigate the relationship between the level of subjective stress recognition and oral symptom experiences, logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: Toothache related subjective stress recognition level was significantly higher in the moderate group with the score of 1.59 (95% CI; 1.49-1.68), and was greater in the high group with 2.38 (95% CI; 2.24-2.53) compared to the low group. Gum disease related subjective stress recognition level was significantly higher in the moderate group with 1.41 (95% CI; 1.32-1.51), and was greater in the high group with 1.99 (95% CI; 1.86-2.13). Oral soft tissue disease related subjective stress recognition level was significantly higher in the moderate group with 1.59 (95% CI; 1.45-1.74), and was greater in the high group with 2.55 (95% CI; 2.33-2.79). Bad breath related subjective stress recognition level was significantly higher in the moderate group with 1.48 (95% CI; 1.39-1.57), and was greater in the high group with 2.10 (95% CI; 1.97-2.25). Conclusions: Higher subjective stress recognition level was found to affect the oral symptoms experienced. Therefore, the stress management plan should be prepared through the cause identification of the main stress in the adolescents. Practical and systematic education is needed for oral health management in the schools.
