An investigation was made of the effect of carrot variety and harvest time (DAP) on the composition of carotenoids and the Retinol Equivalent value by column chromatography, and of the relation of the total carotenoid content to the Retinol Equivalent by regression analysis. The results are summarized as follows : 1. There were very significant differences of total carotenoid, ${\alpha}-carotene,\;and\;{\beta}-carotene$ contents among carrot varieties and between two harvest times(90 DAP, 99 DAP). Especially, each component of carotenoids in carrots harvested at 99 DAP attained higher concentrations than 90 DAP. 2. Retinol Equivalent value showed the tendency to increase as the numbers of DAP incr The Shindaehyung-Ochon and Hongshim-Ochon varieties had the highest RE. value. 3. In the composition of carotenoids and Retinol Equivalent value, the Shamgae-Ochon variety had the nearest value to the mean of all variety. Therefore, it is most reasonable to use the Shamgae-Ochon variety for the analysis of vitamin A value in carrots. 4. The regression of the totel carotenoid (x) to the Retinol Equivalent (y) was y = 0.074 + 0.12x $(r^2$ = 0.91). So, if total carotenoid content is determined, R.E. value can be predicted by this regression equations, saving time and labor.
This study was conducted to obtain the basic informations on the selection for the early and high-yielding lines in $F_2$ populations of wheat. Two combinations such as Olmil-Saemil cross and Naphal-Cheonggemil cross and their eight populations were used and genetic parameters of genetic variances and path-coefficients for agronomic traits mainly in $F_2$ populations were analyzed. Genetic coefficient of variability in Olmil-Saemil cross was higher in harvest index, grain number, grain yield and plant height in decreasing order, but in Naphal-Cheonggemil cross harvest index, plant height, and 1,000-grain weight were higher in order. Heading and maturing dates, plant height, and harvest index showed high hertability (0.525-0.808) in both crosses, but very low heritabilities were observed in grain numbers per panicle and yield. In both crosses, genetic advances(%) was higher in heading and maturing stage, but lowest in yield. High genetic advance was obtained in 1,000-grain weight of Naphal-Cheonggemil cross. The highly significant correlations between yield and panicle number, yield and grain number per panicle were obtained, and the highest direct effect on yield was obtained in panicle number followed by grain number per panicle number.

This study investigated the physicochemical characteristics and antioxidant activities of Daehak waxy corns harvested at different times. Daehak waxy corns were harvested at 4 days before suitable time (BST), suitable time (ST) and 4 days after suitable time (AST). As harvest time was delayed, weight, length and width of kernel, the crude ash, lipid and protein contents significantly increased. Fructose, glucose and sucrose contents of BST were higher than those of ST and AST. Copper, sodium, calcium and potassium contents of BST in Daehak waxy corns increased on different times, and contents of ferrous and zinc did not show any significantly difference. The major fatty acids were oleic acid (48.58~49.96%), palmitic acid (19.50~20.64%) and palmitoleic acid (18.70~23.77%) in Daehak waxy corns with different harvest times. The highest total polyphenol content and total antioxidant capacity of EtOH extracts from AST were 104.45 mg/100 g and 20.53 mg AA eq/100 g, respectively. There was a high correlation between total polyphenol content and $IC_{50}$ value of electron donating ability of EtOH extracts from Daehak waxy corns harvested at different times, or total antioxidant capacity (p<0.01).

Autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) has been used as a major treatment strategy for hematological malignancies. The number of CD34 positive cells in the harvested product is a very important factor for achieving successful transplantation. We studied the factors that can predict the number of CD34 positive cells in the harvested product of acute myelocytic leukemia (AML), multiple myeloma (MM) and Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) patients after mobilizing them with chemotherapy plus G-CSF. A total of 73 patients (AML 19 patients, MM 28 patients, NHL 26 patients) with hematological malignancies had been mobilized with chemotherapy and granulocyte colony-stimulating growth factor from April, 2000 to February, 2012. Group's characteristics, checkup opinion of pre-peripheral blood on the day of harvest & outcome of PBSC were analyzed and evaluated using SPSS statistics program after grouping patients as below; group 1: CD34 cell counts < $2{\times}10^6/kg$ (n=16); group 2: $2{\times}10^6/kg{\leq}CD34$ cell counts < $6{\times}10^6/kg$ (n=32); group 3: CD34 cell counts ${\geq}6{\times}10^6/kg$ (n=25). We analyzed the clinical characteristics, the peripheral blood (PB) parameters and the number of CD34 positive cells in the PB and their correlation with the yield of CD34 positive cells collected from the mobilized patients. The total number of leukapheresis sessions was 263 (mean: 3.55 session per patient), and the mean number of harvested CD34 positive cells per patient was $7.37{\times}10^6/kg$. The number of CD34 positive cells in product was significantly correlated with the number of platelet and CD34 positive cells in peripheral blood (P<0.05). The number of PB CD34 positive cells was the best significant factor for the quantity of harvested CD34 positive cells on the linear regression analysis (P<0.05). Many factors could influence the mobilization of peripheral blood stem cells. Platelet count and PB CD34 positive cells count were the two variables which remained to be significant in multivariate analysis. Therefore, the number of platelet and CD34 positive cells in peripheral blood on the day of harvest can be used as an accurate predictor for successful peripheral blood stem cell collection.
Two red pepper(Capsicum annuum L.) cultivars, 'Geumtap' and 'Bugang', were cultivated at main producing areas in Korea and harvested four times in 1998 and 1999. Length, weight, dry matter ratio and color of red peppers were measured at each harvest. The relations between external characteristics with regional climatic elements such as total accumulated air temperature, total amount of precipitation and duration of sunshine during the fruit growing periods were compared. Length and fruit weight decreased by delayed harvest. These characteristics were shown significant difference according to cultivars, but not to growing year. Dry matter ratio had a tendency to increase at the 3rd and 4th harvest. The red color as measured a${\times}$L values of pepper powder, increased with being later in harvesting, but the trend was uncertain. In fruit growth, fruit length showed a positive correlation with total accumulated air temperature in later growth period of fruits(from 1st to 20th day before harvesting), and fruit weight had relationships with accumulated air temperature and total amount of precipitation in later growth period of fruit. There was no relation between dry matter ratio and climate elements. The red color was shown high correlations with total amount of precipitation and duration of sunshine. There was highest coefficient of determination($r^2$) in all external characteristics.
For daily supply of rotifers to feed juvenile fish and/or larval crustaceans such as shrimp in their seedling culture procedures, the maximum daily increase of cultured rotifers in relations with the inoculation densities of rotifers and the concentrations of food organism, Chlorella sp. were initially investigated in an experimental culture unit. The best results were obtained from the 10 inds./ml of the rotifer inoculation density with $3\times10^6\;cells/ml$ of Chlorella showing the maximum daily increase of 73.0 inds./ml/day on the 7th day. Based on the best results of the initial experiments a trial was made for continuous daily harvests of rotifers. As in the initial experiments, the maximum daily increase of rotifer was observed on the 7th day, when the daily harvest was initiated and continued once a day for 6days. For the 6 days, the amount of the mean daily harvest was $1.42\times10^5$ individuals per culture flask ($3{\iota}\;filled\;with\;2{\iota}$culture water) shelving a possibility of continuous daily harvests.

The solvent extraction and clean up processes for the gas chromatographic determination of muarimol pesticide residues in apples were investigated and examined the changes of residual concentration with the passage of time. The extracted pesticide with methanol were partitioned with dichloromethane after adding sodium chloride solution. The separated solutions were concentrated and transfered to the alumina column for clean up, and eluated with 1-chlorobutane : methanol solution. As a results their recovering for 0.200 and 1.00ppm muarimol spiked on apples have shown 79~95%. Residual amounts of nuarimol in apple was 0.0830ppm when the fungicide was treated eight times until 3 days before its harvest. It seems to be safely used when nuarimol is treated six times until 7 days before harvest of apple.

This study was carried out to examine the effect of harvest stage of corn on nutritive values and quality of round baled corn silage manufactured with corn grown in paddy land of Department of Animal Resources Development, National Institute of Animal Science, RDA from 2009 to 2010. Corn "Kwangpyungok" was harvested at three different growth times (milk, yellow ripen and ripen stage) and ensiled at each harvest stages. Crude protein (CP) and TDN (total digestible nutrient) contents of round baled corn silage was decreased and in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) was not changed with delayed harvest maturity. However, contents of ADF (acid detergent fiber) and NDF(neutral detergent fiber) decreased with delayed harvest maturity. The pH at three different harvest stages ranged from 3.8 to 4.0. The content of lactic acid increased with delayed harvest maturity, but the content of acetic acid decreased. And then, flieg's score reveals that there is an increase in order, ripen stage > yellow ripen stage > milk stage. Therefore, this study suggest that round baled corn silage manufactured at yellow ripen stage can improve the silage quality.
In order to study on suitable harvest time of adlay utilizing self-feeding combine harvester with four rows, which is originally designed for rice harvest, harvesting were carried out at four different times (40, 50, 60 and 70 days after anthesis) . For efficient operation, appropriate working rows were 2 rows at 50 days after anthesis and working speed was 0.26m/sec at 60 days after anthesis. Theoretical working capability was 11.23a/hr at 60 days after anthesis. As the harvesting was delayed, water content of adlay decreased. Water content of culm+leaf was $69.7{\sim}55.3%$ and water content of grain was 34.2% at 60 days after anthesis. The later adlay was harvested. the higher the percent of ripened grain was. But the immature grain was decreased. Remnants was less than 1.8% at 60 days after anthesis. The later adlay was harvested, the heavier volume weight was. Yield was the highest at 60 days after anthesis. When utilizing self-feeding combine harvester with four rows, which was originally designed for rice harvest, suitable harvesting time was 60 days after anthesis. Therefore, theoretically suitable harvest time was 68 days after anthesis.
In order to breed a new Pleurotus eryngii cultivar exhibiting intermediate size and rapid growth, single crosses between $24{\times}46$ and KNR2539 were performed. The resulting new cultivar, $17{\times}15$, was chosen based on the required days to harvest (15.4 days), quality (7.5), and yield (81.5 g/850 cc bottle) obtained in a preliminary test. The strain was named Aeryni 6 and cultivated at mushroom farms on a large scale for comparison with the reference cultivar Kenneutari No. 2. The yield of Aeryni 6 (76.0 g) was 113.0% compared with the reference cultivar, Kenneutari No. 2, and its quality was 6.8, while that of the reference strain was 5.7. An independent t-test revealed significant differences between the days for harvest, yield, and quality of the two cultivars. The new and reference cultivars were discriminated by PCR amplification of URP2 and URP11 and a confrontation cultivation.
