This article addresses how the British Empire administered the discipline of space in nineteenth century Ireland. Space control is a part of modern disciplinary practices. I approach this issue in light of the two modern mapping of space: the geometric mapping of space and the Romantic mapping of space. The former, as seen in map-making, is characterized by imposing a standardized, stratified grid on space by eliminating local characteristics of nature. On the other hand, the latter, as shown in picturesque landscaping, aims to balance a close-up observation of nature and a far-sighted view of it, with the result of creating an ironic tension of local diversity and perspectival totality. These modern disciplinary projects of space repeat themselves in the British management of the colonized Irish territory. As the British conquer other lands, they put to good use both geometric and Romantic disciplinary methods of space. Supervising the Ordnance Survey of Ireland from 1824 to 1846, Thomas Frederick Colby, British Director of Ordnance Survey, made a mathematically strict and scientific mapping of Ireland as a scale of six inches to one mile. Parallelled to this geometric colonization of space, the Romantic colonization of space is efficiently used for the Empire's management of Ireland as well. British tourists and pro-unionist Anglo-Irish landed gentries transform it into the nature of picturesque beauty; Ireland's wild boglands turn aesthetically into desolate but beautiful scenery. Picturesque landscape in England is reborn as an aesthetics of desolation in Ireland.
We investigate the number of the solutions for the elliptic boundary value problem. We obtain a theorem which shows the existence of six weak solutions for the elliptic problem with jumping nonlinearity crossing three eigenvalues. We get this result by using the geometric mapping defined on the finite dimensional subspace. We use the contraction mapping principle to reduce the problem on the infinite dimensional space to that on the finite dimensional subspace. We construct a three dimensional subspace with three axis spanned by three eigenvalues and a mapping from the finite dimensional subspace to the one dimensional subspace.
As a former level of MSC(Multi Spectral Camera) telescope of the KOMPSA T2satellite, the several performance tests of EOS(Electro Optical Subsystem) were performed in the EOS level. By these tests, not only the design requirement of payload can be verified but also the test result can be the important criterion to estimate the performance of payload in the launch and space orbit environment. The EOS Geometric Mapping test is to verify the accuracy of the alignment & assembly on the Subsystem of the MSC by measurement like these; LOS(Line of Sight), LOD(Line of Detector), Band to Band Registration, Optical Distortion and Reference Cube. This paper describes the test results and the analysis for the EOS Geometric Mapping.
We get a theorem which shows the existence of at least six solutions for the semilinear wave equation with nonlinearity crossing three eigenvalues. We obtain this result by the variational reduction method and the geometric mapping defined on the finite dimensional subspace. We use a contraction mapping principle to reduce the problem on the infinite dimensional space to that on the finite dimensional subspace. We construct a three-dimensional subspace with three axes spanned by three eigenvalues and a mapping from the finite dimensional subspace to the one-dimensional subspace.
Spatially referenced mobile mapping (MM) images contain rich information of man-made objects , e.g. road centerlines, buildings, light poles, traffic signs ,billboards and line trees etc. Therefore, the applications in transportation, urban 3D reconstruction, utility management are implemented increasingly. It’s a fundamental issue lies in MM image process that how to orient this image in the object space including interior orientation of camera and the exterior orientation of image. In this paper, the algorithm of automatic acquirement of DC (Digital Camera) parameters based on MM images is illustrated. And then, the mapping between image space and object space for MM images is described.
Recently several methods have been developed for the virtual space construction. Generally, most of the methods are geometric-based rendering technic, but they are difficult to construct real-time rendering because of large data. In this paper, we present a three dimension image-based rendering method that enable a constant speed of real-time rendering regardless of object complexity in virtual space. The Proposed method shows good performance for the virtual space construction with high complexity.

3D buildings are the most prominent feature comprising urban scene. A few of mega-cities in the globe are virtually reconstructed in photo-realistic 3D models, which becomes accessible by the public through the state-of-the-art online mapping services. A lot of research efforts have been made to develop automatic reconstruction technique of large-scale 3D building models from remotely sensed data. However, existing methods still produce irregular building polygons due to errors induced partly by uncalibrated sensor system, scene complexity and partly inappropriate sensor resolution to observed object scales. Thus, a geometric regularization technique is urgently required to rectify such irregular building polygons that are quickly captured from low sensory data. This paper aims to develop a new method for regularizing noise building outlines extracted from airborne LiDAR data, and to evaluate its performance in comparison with existing methods. These include Douglas-Peucker's polyline simplication, total least-squared adjustment, model hypothesis-verification, and rule-based rectification. Based on Minimum Description Length (MDL) principal, a new objective function, Geometric Minimum Description Length (GMDL), to regularize geometric noises is introduced to enhance the repetition of identical line directionality, regular angle transition and to minimize the number of vertices used. After generating hypothetical regularized models, a global optimum of the geometric regularity is achieved by verifying the entire solution space. A comparative evaluation of the proposed geometric regulator is conducted using both simulated and real building vectors with various levels of noise. The results show that the GMDL outperforms the selected existing algorithms at the most of noise levels.
The disjoint union of mapping class groups of surfaces forms a braided monoidal category $\mathcal{M}$, as the disjoint union of the braid groups $\mathcal{B}$ does. We give a concrete and geometric meaning of the braidings ${\beta}_{r,s}$ in $\mathcal{M}$. Moreover, we find a set of elements in the mapping class groups which correspond to the standard generators of the braid groups. Using this, we can define an obvious map ${\phi}\;:\;B_g{\rightarrow}{\Gamma}_{g,1}$. We show that this map ${\phi}$ is injective and nongeometric in the sense of Wajnryb. Since this map extends to a braided monoidal functor ${\Phi}\;:\;\mathcal{B}{\rightarrow}\mathcal{M}$, the integral homology homomorphism induced by ${\phi}$ is trivial in the stable range.

If the topology changes in the re-generation step of the history-based and feature-based CAD systems, it is difficult to identify an entity in the old model and find the same entity in the new model. This problem is known as 'persistent naming problem'. To exchange parametric CAD models, the persistent naming problem and the naming mapping problem must be solved among different CAD system, which use different naming scheme. For CAD model exchange the persistent naming has its own characteristics compare to that for CAD system development. This paper analyses previous researches and proposes a solution to the persistent naming problem for CAD model exchanges and to the naming mapping problem among different naming schemes.
In this paper, we propose a method for generating a realistic object panorama by considering geometric transformations of camera views in a general photographing environment. In the proposed method, we first model a trumpet-shape panorama space based on geometric transformations of camera, such as vertical rotation and horizontal rotation movement around a target model. We then generate an object panorama by mapping model images to the trumpet-shape panorama space. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, experiments were conducted on a large size model, which is quite difficult for us to generate the object panorama without special equipments in general. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively generate an object panorama, which is usually generated in a special photographing environment, regardless of the size of target model.
