  • A nutrition survey of elementary school children in urban areas was undertaken in December of 1986, to investigate nutritional status in relation to school lunch programs. A total of 284 children in the grades from the 4th to the 6th of Myongsudai elementary school, consisting of three groups ; 1) children taking school lunch every day, 2) children taking school lunch intermittently, 3) children not taking at all, were studied. The group of children taking school lunch every day showed higher values of dietary intake, anthropometric measurements and biochemical findings, compared to those of the other groups, in general. These data underscore the necessity of nation wide school lunch programs for whole school children of Korea.

  • A method of missing value estimation for a general design is descrived. In particular, the cases of missing value estimation for $2^k$ and $3^k$ design are explored and discussed. Some examples are illustrated to show the missing value estimation and the nonestimatimable cases.

  • Evolutionary Algorithm is the general method that can search the optimum value for the various problems. Evolutionary method consists of random selection, crossover, mutation, etc. Since the next generation is selected based on the fitness values, the crossover between chromosomes does not have any restrictions. Not only normal marriage but also consanguineous marriage will take place. In human world, consanguineous marriage was reported to cause various genetic defects, such as poor immunity about new diseases and new environment disaster, These problems translate into searching for the local optimum, not the global optimum. So, a new evolutionary algorithm is needed that prevents traps to...

  • In this paper, robust adaptive control algorithms which can be applied to unknown uncertain systems are suggested. Transform matrix for dividing states into "uncontrolled" states and "controlled" states and general searching procedure for the transform matrix which assign arbitrary n-1 eigen values for the uncontrolled subsystem of n-th orther single-input single-output systems of which state variables can be observable are also studied and utilized for the design of new-type controllers. We drived new-type control laws by using adaptive control theory and variable structure system and its stability is proved by using Lyapunov stability theory.

  • A method for optimal route planning is presented with the assumption that the overall defended area is known in terms of threat potential function. This approach employes tangent plane to reduce the dimension of the state space for optimal programming problems with a state equality constraint. One-dimensional search algorithm is used to select the optimal route among the extermal fields which are obtained by integrating three differential equations from the initial values. In addition to being useful for the route planning through threat potential area, the trajectory planning will be suitable for general two-dimensional searching problems.

  • In order to estimate strength of concrete, many attempts have been made. However, it is difficult to estimate concrete strength with ages. In this study, the factors influencing the strength of concrete such as w/c ratio and curing temperature, were investigated and results predicted by the established strength models were compared to measured strength data. It is found that in general the estimated values are approximate to the test results. In order to accurately predict the concrete strength curing temperature factor should be employed in the strength models.

  • Most discussions of single imputation methods and the EM algorithm concern point estimation of population quantities with missing values. A second concern is how to get standard errors of the point estimates obtained from the filled-in data by single imputation methods and EM algorithm. Now we focus on how to estimate standard errors with incorporating the additional uncertainty due to nonresponse. There are some approaches to account for the additional uncertainty. The general two possible approaches are considered. One is the jackknife method of resampling methods. The other is multiple imputation(MI). These two approaches are reviewed and compared through simulation studies.

  • Conflict resolution methodology is discussed with fuzzified Pareto frontier. Four solution concepts namely the Nash solution the generalized nash solution the kalai-Smorodinsky concept and a solution method based on a special bargaining process are examined. The solutions are also fuzzy, the corresponding payoff values are fyzzy numbers the membership functions of which are determined. Three particular cases are considered in the paper. Linear quadratic, and general nonlinear pareto frontiers with known shape are examined.

  • In this paper, we establish two types of strong law of large numbers for fuzzy random variables taking values on the space of normal and upper-semicontinuous fuzzy sets with compact support in a separable Banach space. The first result is SLLN for strong-compactly uniformly integrable fuzzy random variables, and the other is the case of that the averages of its expectations converges.

  • This paper deals with the study of solutions for the elliptic system with jumping nonlineartity and growth nonlinearity and Dirichlet boundary condition. We apply the two critical point theorem when proving the existence of nontrivial solutions for the elliptic system. We define the energy functional associated to the elliptic system and prove that the functional has two critical values.
