  • In this paper, we give an algorithm to construct a space curve in Euclidean 3-space ${\mathbb{E}}^3$ from a plane curve which is called PDP-helix of order d. The notion of the PDP-helices is a generalization of a general helix and a slant helix in ${\mathbb{E}}^3$. It is naturally shown that the PDP-helix of order 1 and order 2 are the same as the general helix and the slant helix, respectively. We give a characterization of the PDP-helix of order d. Moreover, we study some geometric properties of that of order 3.

  • In this paper, we study null helices, null slant helices and Cartan slant helices in $\mathb{E}^3_1$. Using some associated curves, we characterize the null helices and the Cartan slant helices and construct them. Also, we study a space-like curve with the principal normal vector field which is a degenerate plane curve.

  • The conformational transition of oligopeptide multimer,-(HPPHPPP)n-, is studied (H:hydrophobic amino acid, P:hydrophilic amino acid). The helix/coil transitions are detected in the multimer. The transition depends on the number of amino acid in the sequence, the concentration of the oligopeptide, and temperature which affects helix stability constant (${\xi}$) and hydrophobic interaction parameter (wj). In the thermodynamic equilibrium system jA${\rightarrow}$Aj (where A stands for oligopeptide monomer), Skolnick et al., explained helix/coil transition of dimer by the matrix method using Zimm-Bragg parameters ${\xi}$ and $\sigma$ (helix initiation constant). But the matrix method do not fully explain dangling H-bond effects which are important in oligopeptide systems. In this study we propose a general theory of conformational transitions of oligopeptides in which dimer, trimer, or higher multimer coexists. The partition of trimer is derived by using zipper model which account for dangling H-bond effects. The transitions of multimers which have cross-linked S-S bonds or long chains do not occur, because they keep always helical structures. The transitions due to the concentration of the oligopeptides are steeper than those due to the chain length or temperature.

  • This paper defines the role of the Science Park and makes policy recommendations for the "Era of $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution" from a Triple Helix viewpoint. The role of traditional science parks, and theory of Triple Helix and the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution are reviewed, and strategies to cope with the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution in a few advanced countries are analyzed. This paper finishes by suggesting strategies such as acceleration of networking, education to foster creative and innovative manpower and initiating capacity building projects for the advancement of Science Parks in the $4^{th}$ Industrial Revolution.

  • In this article, we show that a pseudo-Hermitian magnetic curve in a normal almost contact metric 3-manifold equipped with the canonical affine connection ${\hat{\nabla}}^t$ is a slant helix with pseudo-Hermitian curvature ${\hat{\kappa}}={\mid}q{\mid}\;sin\;{\theta}$ and pseudo-Hermitian torsion ${\hat{\tau}}=q\;cos\;{\theta}$. Moreover, we prove that every pseudo-Hermitian magnetic curve in normal almost contact metric 3-manifolds except quasi-Sasakian 3-manifolds is a slant helix as a Riemannian geometric sense. On the other hand we will show that a pseudo-Hermitian magnetic curve γ in a quasi-Sasakian 3-manifold M is a slant curve with curvature κ = |(t - α) cos θ + q| sin θ and torsion τ = α + {(t - α) cos θ + q} cos θ. These curves are not helices, in general. Note that if the ambient space M is an α-Sasakian 3-manifold, then γ is a slant helix.

  • High mobility group protein B1 (HMGB1) is a highly conserved, non-histone, chromatin associated nuclear protein encoded by HMGB1 gene. HMGB1 proteins may be general co-factors in Hox-mediated transcriptional activation that facilitate the access of Hox proteins to specific DNA targets. It is unclear that the exact binding interface of Hoxc9DBD and HMGB1. To identify the interface and binding affinity of Hoxc9DBD and HMGB1 A-box, the paramagnetic probe, MTSL was used in NMR titration experiment. It is attached to the N-terminal end of HMGB1 A-box by reaction with thiol groups. The backbone assignment of HMGB1 A-box was achieved with 3D NMR techinques. The 15N-labeled HMGB1 A-box was titrated with MTSL-labeled Hoxc9DBD respectively. Based on the chemical shift changes we can identify the interacting residues and further map out the binding sites on the protein structure. The NMR titration result showed that the binding interface of HMGB1 A-box is around loop-1 between helix-1 and helix-2. In addition, the additional contacts were found in N- and C-terminus. The N-terminal arm region of Hoxc9DBD is the major binding region and the loop between helix1 and helix2 is the minor binding region.

  • The Optimal solutions of the design variables in internally finned tubes have been obtained for three-dimensional periodically fully developed turbulent flow and heat transfer. For a trapezoidal fin profile, performances of the heat exchanger are determined by considering the heat transfer rate and pressure drop, simultaneously, that are interdependent quantities. Therefore, Pareto frontier sets of a heat exchanger can be acquired by integrating CFD and a multi-objective optimization technique. The optimal values of fin widths $(d_1,\;d_2)$, fin height(h) and helix angle$(\gamma)$ are numerical1y obtained by minimizing the pressure loss and maximizing the heat transfer rate within ranges of $d_1=0.5\sim1.5mm$, $d_2=0.5\sim1.5mm$, $h=0.5\sim1.5mm$, and $\gamma=0\sim20^{\circ}$. For this, a general CFD code and a global genetic algorithm(GA) are used. The Pareto sets of the optimal solutions can be acquired after $30^{th}$ generation.

  • In this paper we consider the security of recently proposed software-orienred stram cipher HELIX, SCREAM, MUGI, and PANAMA against algebraic attacks. Algebraic attack is a key recovery attack by solving an over-defined system of multi-variate equations with input-output pairs of an algorithm. The attack was firstly applied to block ciphers with some algebraic properties and then it has been mon usefully applied to stream ciphers. However it is difficult to obtain over-defined algebraic equations for a given cryptosystem in general. Here we analyze recently proposed software-oriented stream ciphers by constructing a system of equations for each cipher. furthermore we propose three design considerations of software-oriented stream ciphers.
