The demand of LNG as a cheap and clean energy which does not cause an environmental problem has sharply been increased in Korea. In general LNG is stored in a cargo tank specially designed as a liquid state below $-162^{\circ}C$. The main engine of a LNG carrier is generally a steam boiler because LNG is a highly flammable fluid with the possibility of explosion. The main engine of a cargo ship has to be capable of the propulsion load and various auxiliary loads for the safe navigation since it is the primary energy source. Therefore the evaluation of a main boiler's energy capacity is a key design point in the planning of LNG carrier's construction. This research is to develop the computational program for the analysis of steam boiler Heat balance for LNG carrier.

The steel cargoes as the core raw materials for the manufacturing industry have important roles for increasing the handling volume of the port. In particular, steel cargoes are fundamental to vitalize Port of Incheon because they have recognized as the primary key cargo items among the bulk cargoes. In this respect, the IPA(Incheon Port Authority) ambitiously developed the port complex facilities including dedicated terminals and its hinterland in northern part of Incheon. However, these complex area has suffered from low cargo handling records and has faced operational difficulties due to decreased net profits. In general, the import and export steel cargo volumes are sensitively fluctuated followed by internal and external economy index. There is a scant of research for forecasting the steel cargo volume in Incheon port which used in various economy index. To fill the research gap, the aim of this research is to predict the steel cargoes of Port of Incheon using the well established methodology i.e. System Dynamics. As a result, steel cargoes volume dealt with in Incheon port is forecasted from about 8 million tons to about 10 million tons during simulation duration (2011-2020). The Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) is measured as 0.0013 which verifies the model's accuracy.

Cargo securing safety, which is one factor for the safe operation of car ferry ships, has been applied since 2015 and evaluated by comparing the hull motion and securing load capacity generated by waves. To ensure the safe operation of the 3700 ton class car ferry, it is important to analyze the hull acceleration motion based on the sea wave information of the navigation area to determine the cargo securing load that can prevent the movement of cargo. In this study, the meteorological information of three wave buoys installed in Busan and Jeju area was analyzed for the past 5 years. In addition, the hull acceleration was measured in actual sea conditions and compared to that of numerical simulations. Under the condition of a significant wave height of 2.5 m from Feb to Mar, except typhoon seasons, the lateral acceleration was observed to be 1.5 m/s2 in real ship measuring and 1.8 m/s2 in numerical calculation. It was analyzed to be less than 40% under general weather conditions compared to the high wave warning using an approximate formula for estimating the hull motion by wave height. The cargo securing safety proposed in this study will be widely used based on the actual measuring acceleration with the sea wave height.
The dynamic nature of mechanization and automation to improve productivity and safety within logistics centers, has necessitated various studies to support efficient and safe working conditions for workers. However, accidents in the loading dock occur frequently as workers and forklift trucks operate within the same space. This research introduces cargo batch loading and unloading systems, which enable increasing productivity and safety through the use of mechanization and automation in the loading dock. To assist efficient operation of this new system, four pieces of general-purpose equipment or three pieces of dedicated equipment are deemed to be essential. Moreover, the floor area of the loading dock is designed to accommodate $256.28m^2$ and $207.00m^2$ for the general-purpose and dedicated systems respectively, in addition to the space allocated for equipment and additional space. The design of the loading dock considers the area of the loading dock as well as the cargo batch loading and unloading systems. Economic analysis, such as NPV, IRR, and PBT, were conducted in addition to sensitivity analysis on key variables.
With the goal of eradicating overwork, overload, and speeding of general freight cars(cargo) by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Infrastructure and Transport, the "The Fare of safe transportation for freight cars System" has been enforced since 2020. 'The Fare of safe transportation for freight cars' rate for each item is being applied and supplemented, but the 'The Cost of safe transportation for freight cars' of general freight cars (cargo) and steel items is under discussion. The purpose of this study was to estimate the willingness to pay( WTP) for cargo. A survey was conducted on shippers, transportation companies (arrangers, carriers), and cargo drivers (using direct questioning among contingent valuation method (CVM) and the Tobit Regression analysis was conducted, and the average and median values of freight rates were derived using the estimated results, and the willingness to pay by tonnage of freight cars was confirmed. It is expected that the results of this study can be used as a reference to the "The Fare of safe transportation for freight cars Committee" an organization for deliberation and resolution of the 'The Cost of safe transportation for freight cars'.

The Consultative Meeting of the Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by Dumping of Wastes and other matter, 1972 (London Convention 1972) has requested to International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environmental Protection Committee to collaborate and help clarify a boundary issue between International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Shops, 1973 as modified by the Protocol of 1978 (MARPOL) and the London Convention concerning 'dumping' versus 'discharges' during normal operations of ships in 2004, and subsequently established a Joint London Convention/MEPC Correspondence Group. The Contracting Parties to London Convention expressed their environmental concerns on the broad interpretation of the "cargo-associated wastes" by the States, which could be discharged by ships under MARPOL. Regulatory regimes for the cargo residues appear to vary among states. Some countries require fur ships to discharge their cargo wastes into the port reception facility and IMO also recommends doing so. This paper examines the related current national and international legal texts for the regulation of disposal of wastes from ships in order to analyze the current global concern on the marine pollution associated with waste discharge during operations of ships. In particular, we attempt to evaluate the likely marine environmental consequences arising from the disposal of cargo residue using an hypothetical case for the coal cargo residue among bulk cargos in this paper, since location, magnitude and frequency of the discharge of coal cargo residues into the sea adjacent to Korean Peninsula are not readily available. The cargo residues may be discharged to the sea according to MARPOL 73/78; however, its marine environmental consequences can be significant depending upon the characteristics and amounts of wastes to be discharged. Also the public tolerance of the environmental consequences would be widely different among nations. Multilateral environmental agreements, in general, more strictly apply their rules if there are other options to disposal at sea, i.e. port reception facility in this case. Therefore, port reception facilities for the wastes generated by ships are recommended to be further constructed in major national ports in order to reduce the risk of environmental damages during the operations of ships.
Over the past years, the role of ports in the global network of supply chains has becoming increasingly important, not merely as a physical location for loading and unloading goods, but also as an essential center of economic activity where additional value is added to cargo. Due to the overall growing importance of ports, each country has chosen to adopt hub growth as a primary economic strategy. Northeast Asia in particular, due to its high population density, experiences intense competition between its ports. Busan's port, as a result, has used the establishment of Distripark in order to attract high and stable trade volume, and compete more effectively with other ports in the region. This study estimates the unit cost of the logistic process for the all principal cargos handled at Busan New Port, with the findings revealing that unit cost increases gradually starting with chemical products, LME bulk goods, automobile parts, LME containers, general cargoes, and LME inland transportation goods coming in last. Future research will look more closely at all all categories of cargo handled in the Distrpark of Busan New Port, thereby enabling us to better understand the value created by the port, and how to best implement effective trade volume-attraction strategy.

Bulk cargo loaded into ship can be damaged by various kinds reasons. This paper aims to analyze about cargo damage of coil carrier ship due to condensation. Condensation is the formation of liquid drops of water from water vapor. Condensation consists of small drops of water which form when warm water vapour or steam touches a cold surface such as a window. In general, condensation have occurred by temperature difference at large building and ship's tank. It is phenomenon that can occur often to oceangoing vessel moving temperature difference places in similar time. This paper proposes a new method using dehumidification device and fan heater to prevent bulk cargo damage of coil carrier ship from condensation.
The purpose of this paper is to show a way for measuring the rankings of efficient seaports in Korea by using DEA(data envelopment analysis) and model suggested by Jahanshahloo et al(2006). Two inputs(birthing capacity, and cargo handling capacity) and three outputs(export cargo handling amount, import cargo handling amount, and number of ship calls), and one cross sectional data(2004) for 26 Korean seaports are considered for measuring the efficiencies. An empirical main result indicates that ranking order of efficient seaports are Okpo, Samcheok Ulsan, Daesan, Busan, Gohyun Ports. Samcheok Port is classified as the most strong efficient port among 16 general ports except 10 container ports. The Korean seaport authority can adopt the new measurement way introduced in this paper for measuring the exact ranking order of efficient seaports when it decides the development and investment to each efficient seaport.
